We've stayed here for the weekend twice now and have really enjoyed ourselves. With the stay, you get breakfast, one wine tasting & tour each, and a glass of wine and cheese plate in the bar each night you stay. The Innkeeper and staff are great. The walls are a bit thin, but it doesn't seem to be a loud, party crowd. We have stayed in the Messina Room (2nd floor) and Romeo & Juliet Room (1st floor). Both were large rooms with large bathrooms and king beds. We were very happy in both, but the bed is a bit hard for me. Also, the rooms have beautiful stained glass windows over the door, but they let light in at night, which can be annoying. The breakfast has a nice spread of cheese, fruit & muffins, and an entree-there is only one choice for entree, so if you don't like what they are serving you must make do with the continental offerings. They also have coffee, juices, and mimosas. This place is beautiful and really feels like a getaway. I'm sure we will be back.

The view from our balcony. Very pleasant and peaceful.

We had a wonderful time at the Villa, as well as taking the tour of the winery. It was a wonderful weekend!

What really makes this place special is the heart behind it. Beth and Rick are absolutely amazing--genuine, passionate, and the kind of people who make you feel like family the moment you walk in. You can tell they've poured everything into creating not just great wine, but an experience people want to come back to again and again. It's rare to find a place that feels this personal and inviting. From the atmosphere to the conversation to the quality of the wine, everything just clicks. I hate to see them moving out of state--it's a huge loss for the local community. This is one of those spots you don't just visit... you remember. Wishing Beth and Rick nothing but success in their next chapter. They've truly built something special.

This has some seating indoors and some outdoors, so going during the fall is probably ideal. Not a huge space, but when I arrived on a 100-degree day, there were plenty of seats to choose from. I did two different flights- the sparkling and the tasting. I'm more of a red lover, but the Blanc Du Bois semi-sweet is one of the only whites I've REALLY enjoyed (I received a tasting of this at the rodeo and wanted to check out more options here since I loved it so much). There are only two sparkling options at the moment, so I tried both. The real star was the Belle for me. I can definitely see myself taking this to brunch or enjoying while cooking a meal. It is light and refreshing and you can totally taste the fruity guava notes in it. The Blanc Du Bois regular is not sweet enough for me which is probably why I enjoy the Semi Sweet so much. Of course, I left with a bottle of this as well. I'd like to come back and try their Reds- but definitely something I'll have to do in the future. If you're already out this way, you can taste some wine and then book a Bee-Keeping class which I really enjoyed.

I HIGHLY recommend going out and giving this local family some business. You'll have a great time…read moreand taste some delicious wines as well. This place is SO ADORABLE!!! It is a small, local winery run by a family. You meet all of them - the mom, dad and their grown children (sometimes all, sometimes only a few) as well as even an uncle. They have set times for wine tastings. When you get there, you get your own table for your party (they have inside & outside tables) and they introduce you to the wines and which they grow at their vineyard & give you a history of the place. They also have snack trays that you can order with grapes, cheese and meats. Those are also all super yummy. Normally, I'm not a fan of drier wines. But I liked EVERY wine they had us try. I also tried a the sangria (I think it was) that was not part of the tasting wines, and I was not a fan of that because it tasted far too much like champagne. They are small, so they only make 3-5 different wines every year. But each one is such high quality. Their son, who is the mastermind winemaker, and he is very sweet (and super smart) and will answer all your questions about his process and what's upcoming. Just like the inside, the outside is very cute & quaint. They have a patio with some tables and then some acres with their vines. Unfortunately, we did not come when there were grapes on the vine, so everything we saw was bare. But that's just a reason to come back! Since it's such a small operation, the dad also gave us a you're of when they barrel and do wine science! And since I studied architecture, he also asked for my opinion on their thoughts of expanding their building because they are running out of room!

Nate was very knowledgeable and offered some interesting insight into just how much goes into making a bottle of wine, as well as some of the specific things they face in this specific region. Similar to the experience, the wine was fantastic. We got to try a few different kinds that were all very good. I was very impressed with the quality. From the Blanc Du Bois to the Vin du Soleil, they had wonderful tasting notes and an equally pleasant aroma. If you've got a free day, consider paying them a visit! Very well worth the time to stop on in. A great place to be whether you simply want a glass with a friend, or you'd like to learn more about the art of vinification.

I brought my friend to Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery & Kitchen to celebrate his 34th birthday…read more He asked me to create a wine tasting event for him. I quickly searched on Google and found several options. Messina Hof grabbed my attention. First, it's out in the country, not in the busy Houston region. Second, it has food to pair with wine. Third, I love driving to Richmond Texas. I thought this city has a lot of charms. So, I made a reservation online. While that was not a requirement, but I would like to be reminded. We arrived at the restaurant late because I under estimated the traffic from Southwest Houston. My reservation was moved with my request, nice. The parking lot is huge and wheelchair accessible spots are on both sides of the entrance. We were one of 2 parties at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The wait staff was very cordial. She introduced us the wine tasting menu: White Wine, Red Wine, Mixed Wines, Premium, Library and Sweet Wines. My friend likes to try their sweet collection, $28. I don't drink. So, I just looked at him enjoying the wines. It started with something weak to something strong like a Port and ended with something delicious that he really liked. Each pour is 3 oz, except 1 oz of port due to high alcohol content. We bought a bottle of Orange Muscat Mistella, $25. I don't think we can find this elsewhere for this price. For people like me who don't drink, I asked for a glass of sparkling red grape juice. We also paired our drinks with a wood-fired pizza and I ordered a Burrata Salad. They are quite delightful. I was surprised as the wines are travelled from Bryan/College Station and Fredericksburg of Texas. Umm... So, this huge facility doesn't produce wines. Although, there is a grapevines out on the front. As we've been told that those grape trees will produce grapes next year. The only winery tour is at those 2 locations. There is nothing to see here. Hehe. We swore to come back with friends and family again.

This restaurant is a hit or miss, with the recent visits being just okay. Kind of unfortunate,…read moregiven the fact that the restaurant is actually very nice with a very cool patio. I'll start by saying that the food is mid. Some items are better than others. Starters: Mama Rosa meatballs - 7/10 - flavorful and rich Spinach dip - 5/10 - just okay Baked goat cheese - 5/10 - okay Fritto Misto - 7/10 - tasty They recently changed their menu and took away the lunch menu, which I actually enjoyed. Mains: Roasted Chicken Gnocchi- 7/10 - this was my go-to entree, but the last 2 times it has not been good. The last time I went the chicken was shredded and tasted off. Chicken Parmesan - 6/10 - just okay, pretty bland Spinach Bacon Alfredo - 7/10 - again, not bad and not great Pizza - I hate to say this, but they have some of the worst pizza. We have tried the pepperoni, the Douglas, the fig and pig, and they were all bad. Reminds me of school cafeteria pizza. Overall, this place could really be a hit, but the food is just mid and it seems to be getting worse every time I go. Service is the same, sometimes terrible and our waiter is nowhere to be found, and sometimes good. I do enjoy their wine. Their Sparkling Almond is amazing! They have some other great wines too. All of their Premium Dry Reds are great! and I also love their semi-sweets. So maybe just go for their wines and skip the food.
