We stayed at The George Hotel after receiving many recommendations from friends, so we arrived with high expectations. Unfortunately, our experience fell short. Shortly after checking into our first room, we began hearing repeated loud thuds from the room above us. It sounded as though someone was repeatedly dropping a heavy object or riding a skateboard across the floor. The noise continued until around 11:00 p.m. and started again around 6:00 a.m., making it difficult to relax and get a good night's sleep. I called the front desk to ask if our room was located beneath the gym and requested a room change. The staff accommodated our request and moved us to another floor. Unfortunately, as soon as we opened the door to the second room, we were met with a strong musty, moldy odor. Upon closer inspection, we noticed what appeared to be mold growth around the air vent located directly above the bed. When I called the front desk, the clerk immediately asked if the room smelled "humid," which surprised me because it suggested they were already aware of the issue. Since we were staying for four nights, I asked if another room was available. Thankfully, the staff was eventually able to relocate us again. One additional inconvenience was the lack of places to hang wet towels or swimsuits to dry. As a result, nothing dried properly, and we had to request fresh towels each day. While I appreciate that the staff ultimately worked to address our concerns by moving us to different rooms, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the hotel's excellent reputation and the many positive recommendations we had received. The hotel is attractive with a lot of fun, unique design touches. Everyone on staff was very kind. Things get a little messy in the details, when you look closely. Bathroom tile desperately needed a good scrub. The black grout hides the fact that it's covered in mold when you touch it. Whole bathroom needed a serious deep clean. Sheets had holes in them. Crazy to me that housekeeping had to see that and just went on! Coffee maker not working. Waters not restocked in room. A few housekeeping tweeks and this could be awesome. read more

The George hotel in college station was hosting our Beef Team Retreat. The Texas Flag book wall is an amazing sight when you first walk into the hotel. We checked in for our retreat in the hotel lobby. The hotel is located in an area with lots of retail shops and restaurants. The parking was not ideal and most of the garage spots were filled. The hotel pool is out in the center of a communal area with all the restaurants so not a lot of privacy there. The hotel did an amazing job at hosting our retreat. We used the Statesman room that had many tables and chairs to accommodate our group of 100+. We had breakfast in this area as well as our Roaring 20s evening where I had the best prime rib spread that I had ever experienced. The prime rib was prepared to perfection and served buffet style with au jus and horseradish sauce. There were also fresh veggies served including carrots, green beans and broccoli and they were prepared Al dente style just how I like them. There was a potato bar where you could build your own loaded mashed potatoes. We received 2 drink tickets where we could choose from a variety of beverages including beer, wine or cocktails. I had two pineapple margaritas. There were also many flavors of cupcakes served for dessert. The best part of the hotel were these ceramic sheep decorations that the Beef Team enjoyed posing with and moving them to various locations around the hotel for photo purposes. The location of this hotel is very convenient as it is walking distance from A&M campus is central to many eateries and shops. The hotel itself is chic and clean. The service, however, needs work. My partner and I opted for late check out (3pm) but when I came back to my room after grabbing lunch at 1:30, the key didn't work. I went down to the front desk in the lobby to let the conceirge know of my situation and he told me our late check out was only until 2pm which didn't make sense to me because my key would still have worked. I guess the person who checked us in completely forgot to put "late check out" in our reservation. After getting my new keys, I returned to my room and was enjoying my lunch in my bralette and shorts and had housekeeping open the door on me. Apparently, they weren't notified of our late check out. If you choose to stay here, double check to ensure that there's a late check out note in your reservation so this doesn't happen to you too. read more

Quirky boutique hotel where my brother was staying for just one night. It's modern and a little fancy. Definitely a step above the usual Hampton or Courtyard. It is not aligned with any of the huge hotel chains. Entrance and registration desk was very difficult to find, both driving around and then on foot. It's here, somewhere! Clean room, really nice shower and a self-service mini bar in the room that was not too expensive at all. Fitness room had enough equipment and a nice view. Very comfortable hotel. We used it as home base for our 3 days at Round Top. The sheep (IYKYK) are the most fun part whether it started as a branding opportunity or organically they delighted and surprised me everywhere. Valet, Front Desk team, Bar service all outstanding. Meh. Tried it because of the good ratings and figured the higher price point would mean it was better. Not really. Just an average room. Noisy and some foul odor that I couldn't recognize. Parking was a bear since you're placed into a retail public lot. Have valet option, but my legs work so wanted to save some $. Probably won't return and will avoid Century Square altogether. Many other options in the area that are nicer without all the noise and traffic. read more

Where do I start, check in was actually fun, the young lady Giselle made me feel at home and actually joked with me making me feel both at home and comfortable at the same time. This hotel is very cool and is in a great little area. The lobby has a rustic feel with many of the interior decorations being leather and raw wood. Third time staying at The George over the last five years. I enjoyed this visit as much as the other two. Stayed for three nights on this trip. Rooms are well appointed, clean, quiet and spacious. Lobby is well thought out and all the associates I encountered have been very friendly, accommodating and helpful. Enjoyed the grounds of the complex - water features, campfires, etc. Didn't try either of the pools, but they looked relaxing. Ate breakfast at The Canteen two of the mornings and enjoyed the food and service. Had a few breaks and one lunch provided by the hotel services, as part of the meeting I was attending and the food was all top notch, well presented, served on time and with appropriate accruements. The 1791 Bar had a good selection of various options for alcohol, including some special drinks. Absolutely love that I can walk within the complex to any number of very good restaurants, of various types. Irish pub, steak, pizza, crepes, poke, breakfast, Mexican, candy shop, etc. I like that there is a movie theatre in the complex as well. I think the second time I visited, I enjoyed a movie as well. The Valencia Group seems to have it going on! I need to check out their other hotel locations and what amenities they have in other cities. read more

This is the best hotel in College Station, hands down. I wasn't even sure that I was still in College Station; it's so glamorous and artistic. A welcomed space, I'm sure! The rooms are so nice; perfect decor, good ambiance, comfy bed, extremely clean, strong water pressure. Staff is friendly and helpful. Pool is beautiful. Restaurants on site are delicious. Free parking in the adjacent parking garage. Conference room space is perfect. There are life size sheep statues around the property that get moved around. One morning I opened the door into the hallway and a sheep greeted me at my doorstep :D Just go, even if you're just walking around to see it. So fun! read more

I stayed here by myself for two nights and have to say as a female felt a little strange with the very dark setting. You get off the elevator and the walls and carpet are black with very dim lighting and a huge screen playing creepy black and white films on a loop. My room was on the complete opposite side of the one elevator bank which was quite a walk through a dark creepy hallway. The front desk was very accommodating and moved me to a room next to the elevator as I didn't want to make that trek to my room at night alone. The rooms are very nice and I felt very safe once inside for the night. I would probably have felt much better about the whole ordeal if I were not there alone. The valet parking is nice and convenient, the attendants are awesome. but I asked the price and was told $29. I missed that it was $29 per night, so can get a little pricey. They will give you free parking in the garage that is located nearby. The atmosphere around the hotel is great. Lots of shopping and a few great restaurants! Juanita's was delicious for dinner. The pool is located in the main courtyard literally right outside of the wall of windows of Juanita's and the hotel bar/lobby. Very much on display for everyone dining at Juanita's. This may not bother some people, but I prefer a tad more privacy. The hotel has a distinct smell. It is their "signature " scent. It does not smell bad, but it is very very strong. It's a very deep earthy, cedar, smoky, sweet smell. Not my favorite, but I could get past that. All in all, a quirky boutique hotel in a great area! read more

We only had the briefest of stays due to a family emergency that compelled our return before staying the night. This hotel is centrally located and well appointed. The lobby features a Texas Flag mural made out of book jackets in honor of the much beloved Barbara Bush's love of literacy. Rooms were nice and rustically themed in the still one might expect would make an Aggie smile. My only beef is the utter lack of parking, for an upscale location with two boutique hotels owned by the same hospitality group one would think a parking garage shared by both facilities would have been part of the design. While paid parking and limited reserved spots are available, it's totally inadequate in area that features upscale bars, restaurants and tony little shops. What a fun hotel!!! We were at a baseball a game and decided to give this cool hotel a try!! First off... it smells awesome, there is a cool Texas book flag when you walk in! So fun!! The rooms were well appointed except...there are no rooms that seemed to accommodate 3 people! 2 full size, or a king and no fold out couch.. there was a rollaway, but it was very uncomfortable. Overall a cool hotel and only 2 gripes. 1) sleeping arrangement/bed situation 2) the pool is right outside a restaurant winDow so if you want to swim you have to be on display for the people eating. 3) no breakfast onsite, but there is breakfast at several places nearby. I joined the Valencia Hotel group and seems there are many other cool hotels I will check out. read more

My husband and I spent the weekend at The George for a Aggie football game. The hotel is very nice. They go out of their way to take care of you! We used the valet parking. They didn't tell you up front that there was a coat for valet parking but I would have done it anyway. The front guest was extremely accommodating! We had a Hospitality event to go to and the shuttle wasn't running to Kyle Field yet. Tristen called us a Uber and took care of it himself to make sure we got there in time. We enjoyed a one night stay at this property. We parked out front and were able to quickly check in. They have valet parking available for about $30 per night, however the parking garage is less then twenty yards away and parking there is free with a hanging tag they can provide you at the front desk. There's is no restaurant inside the hotel, however there are several restaurants steps away, as well as one directly behind the infinity pool, so walking to a nice place to eat is easily accessible. They hotel was very stylishly decorated and they also have a sister property working a short walking distance that offers a free breakfast and also has in home dining, The Calvert House. The hotel staff was excellent and very friendly and accommodating. They have a lovely bar near the pool and a nice seating area in front of the pool with fire pits so you could watch your kids swim and have a drink. The only complaint was that the double room beds are actual doubles...so the size of a twin and a half. I was expecting queen sized beds, so it was a little disappointed about that, but other then that we really enjoyed this stylish hip little boutique hotel.
