Peace on earth and good will toward your fellows...unless you happen to be an employee of one of the retailers at this mall! Yes, here we are once again in full swing of the holiday shopping season and the mall, owned by a supposed Christian company, Macerich, (why the mall is closed on Easter) has their impotent security harassing and intimidating the retail employees. Yes, you read that right. A female employee of one of the retailers was called out, in her place of employment, given a "citation" (nothing more than a useless piece of intimidation with no legal weight) by mall security. She was shown a print of a still from a security camera of her exiting her vehicle (creepy!) where it was NOT parked in employee parking. There were corroborating witnesses to this incident. Residents of Marin County, as well as any other patrons of this mall, be aware that Macerich, the owner and management of this mall, treats your sons, daughters and mothers, who are employees of the retail tenants (who pay very high rents) of this mall, worse than second class citizens. They are harassed and intimidated by the inept and rude mall security. They are followed, having their license plate numbers recorded, threatened with being "written up", or having their vehicles towed, or being complained about to their managers. This harassment begins Black Friday and continues throughout the holiday season. When I first heard of this treatment from a friend's son who works at one of the stores in the mall I was a bit skeptical but after witnessing first hand the draconian behavior of mall security I started doing some research. I have personally interviewed a number of the retail employees and heard the same upsetting story recounted multiple times. Did you know there have been multiple break-ins to the vehicles parked in the overflow lot? Thieves know that is where employees of retail tenants are required to park. They know there is little or no security in that lot and that tenant employee cars will be there for up to nine hours. Don't take my word for it, I got my information from the Central Marin Police. At this time of year employees of the retail tenants, no matter their age or infirmity, are forced to park in the offsite overflow lot and walk to their places of employment regardless of the weather or darkness of night. All by the orders and dictates of Macerich, the managers/owners of this mall. Walking from that lot to Macy's is quite a long walk, especially in the cold and/or heavy rain, not to mention not very safe in the dark at night. The heinous behavior of security, by order of Macerich, has only increased. In the morning all traffic entering the mall has to stop at a checkpoint - much like those at a hostile, authoritarian, foreign border - where interrogated before being deemed a "customer" and worthy of parking in the lot. Most, if not all, of the employees of the tenants make daily purchases at the mall. Meals, coffee, clothing, etc - are being purchased on a regular basis by these employees, legally defining them as "customers". The hard working, low paid employees are probably more loyal and frequent customers than any other that patronizes this property. And for this consistent and daily patronage as "customers" their treatment is AT BEST condescending, demeaning and poor. Marin County, is this how you want your mothers, daughters and sons treated? Having their persons and property put at risk? Having undue stress from security put on them just for going to work? If it weren't for these employees there would be no one to provide the cheerful, professional service you desire during your shopping experience at this mall. read more

Hoity-toity Open-Air Mall [Corte Madera CA] The only reason we were here was to pass time between beach time at Muir Beach and a restaurant that we were waiting to open at 4:30p in Larkspur. We had 2 hours to spare. Shopping is no longer my favorite thing to do... at my age I'd rather spend my hard earned money collecting memories (traveling) instead of material things. Unfortunately, there was not one store here that I like (anymore). I used to love shopping at Macy's, Gap, Banana Republic and Pottery Barn. I was looking for specialty stores like a chocolate shop or dessert shop or something... nothing! but we did indulge in some drinks at Joe & The Juice. Some of the stores here I've never heard of: Gorjana, Madison Reed, Tumi, Splendid, Bonobos, Madewell, Vinfast, Faherty, Johnny Was (??). It was my first time seeing an Amazon 4-Star store. Anchor stores are Macy's and Nordstrom. This is an open air outdoor mall. It's similar to our Fountains in Roseville. I do like that this mall has lots of outdoor furnitures especially in the promenade where people can relax and chill and take a break from shopping. Your Santa expect is appalling. We will never be back. We made a reservation for Santa photos at 1:15. We waited 35 minutes to take our photo because the line was out the door, everyone in line had a reservation. We finally made it to the front and we were rushed through by the awful manager who refused to tell me his name. HE WAS VERBALLY abusive to me in front of my two small children and told me that "This is retail. Don't want to wait? THEN DON'T COME ON A SUNDAY." My husband had to intervene and my two children were crying. THIS WAS AWFUL. He should be ashamed as should you. Thanks for ruining this Christmas memory for my family. read more

Lovely outdoor shopping mall with high end retailers with the likes of Restoration hardware, Apple, Tesla, Talbots, Microsoft, Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, J Jill, lululemon, Gap, Banana Republic, Nordstrom and Macy's. There is a Peet's and Starbucks along with several restaurants. For the full deets, check out their website for the directory. Bring along the kids and the dogs. There is a child play area. For your fur babies, there are small tiny patches of lawn areas specifically for them to do their business with complimentary poop bags. Beautiful outdoor art decorated the center. The shopping center pays homage to the Marin marshlands by having whimsical art sculptures of frog and duck themed water fountains throughout the center. The esthetics was pleasing and adds to a relaxing shopping experience. Plus there is visible security adding to a secure environment. All this added to an overall pleasant shopping experience. But be aware of the hours of operation of most of the stores. Most open at 10am and close by 8pm during the M-F, 7pm on Saturday and 6pm on Sunday. read more

Open air shopping village with a variety of retail and food shops. Nordstrom is a large anchor store on one end with a Cheesecake Factory as a another large chain restaurant. There are a variety of retail shops, clothing stores, sunglasses shops, a BBQ place, a pizza joint, candy store and several open spaces empty. Close parking within short walking proximity to most every retailer in this center. Several locations even offer curbside service. The open air environment is very relaxed and laidback, with lots of very nice spaces throughout the center itself to sit and relax, people watch and visit with friends. This may have been a hot spot or is struggling to keep that spot, the amount of vacant spaces makes one wonder if it's still viable for brick and mortar businesses to compete with what is obviously a high rent center. 3 Stars - serves its purpose for the area, but there is lots of competition in the immediate neighborhood. 00549 read more

Upscale shopping area with a number of boutique brands and a couple mainstays. It seems as though this was once an older mall that modernized (store by store) over time. Clean, spaced well and has a nice flow to its layout. However, there are a few relics that could be demolished or gutted anew, like Macy's which could use a fresh update. It could be viewed as a more expensive (outdoors) shopping mall with the exception of a few names which usually offer deals. Such as The Gap or Macy's. On a recent jaunt to pickup last minute gifts, I was able to knock out 90% of my needs. I spent a bit more coin than I wanted but was able to acquire gifts that drew great smiles. Is it one-stop shopping? Naw but they're located in an area nearby to other name brands as well. read more

As far as malls goes, it's very small and does not compare to Broadway Plaza, Stanford Shopping Center, or Westfield Valley Fair. Those three aforementioned malls have way more shops (across all price points) and a lot more food/dining options. In contrast, The Village has very limited food options. Town Center across the freeway has more food options, including a weekly farmers market which the Village is sorely lacking. In terms of shopping options, it's mostly clothing stores, 3 home furnishings stores, and 3 automobile showrooms: Tesla, Polestar, and Vinfast. Anchor stores are Macy's and Nordstrom. Lots of stores have closed and their storefronts remain empty. Some stores that have left or have moved within the mall and have left behind empty storefronts: The North Face; Microsoft; Williams-Sonoma (moved to RH's old space); Solstice Sunglasses; and Amazon 4-Star. Fast dining options are 1) Starbucks (inside Macy's); 2) Joe & the Juice; 3) Stang's Hot Dogs; 3) Boudin's; 4) Peet's Coffee; and 5) E Bar (inside Nordstrom). Sit-down dining options are 1) Cafe Bazille (inside Nordstrom; 2) Cheesecake Factory; 3) Boca Pizzeria; and 4) RH Rooftop Restaurant (inside Restoration Hardware). Every time I go to the Broadway Plaza, Stanford, or Valley Fair, I can't help but compare them to The Village and wish it had what they have. They just have more of everything. Much nicer landscaping (especially Stanford). Better mix of stores. And way more food options (Valley Fair is tops in this category). On the plus side, it's dog-friendly, has a play area for little kids, and is an outdoor mall, which is safer option in this time of COVID-19. It's also the home of the flagship RH store, which is headquartered in Corte Madera. For the north bay, it's pretty much the only game in town, especially if you want to shop at Nordstrom or Macy's. No parking at this mall. I think they tried to be smart by painting the spaces smaller but now all these dumb Marin moms with huge SUVs can't park and end up taking two spaces which is worse than having large spaces. In addition to no parking there's construction happening literally in every area both in the parking lots and in the actual mall. Also heard through the grapevine they fired most of the housekeeping staff but who knows why. So they can pay for the insane amount of unnecessary construction? Why don't you fix all the air conditioning problems every store seems to have? Maybe fire the mall management and security guards that do nothing anyway? read more

The Village recently got a much-needed face-lift. And I'm pleased to report that the shopping center looks younger + more vibrant than ever! Don't get me wrong, it's still a mall. And a mall's a mall (you've got your Gap, Banana Republic, Macy's, Starbucks, Cheesecake Factory, etc.). But the new landscaping has certainly improved the look and feel of the place. There's plenty of outdoor seating, vendors, and even a children's playground. Folks have now have a wide variety of shopping options, everything from the recently refurbished Nordstrom's to Lululemon to the Apple Store and the Tesla showroom. Needless to say, the Village clearly caters to its Marin clientele. Parking is still plentiful. Food options are more abundant than ever (Boca Pizzeria, Boudin's, Stang's Hot Dogs & Sausages, Peet's Coffee, etc.). All in all, the Village has solidified itself as a premier shopping destination. It's definitely well worth a visit the next time you're in Marin. read more

I have been here a few times over the past few years. It has big department stores at each end of the village and many other smaller shops in the middle. Macy's and Nordstrom are the two big ones and there is an Apple Store, Microsoft store and Tesla showroom. There are tons of designer shops and a few home decorating / furniture shops. It's a relatively expensive mall and really good bargains are few and far between. I have never seen it jam packed and it's easy to get around. read more

Dog friendly: there are a number of stores that had water bowls for dogs outside. Outdoor mall, which is nice to get some fresh air while shopping. Thankfully it wasn't raining b/c there is nothing worse than having to shop while it's raining. Luckily for us it was a leisurely Sunday and we needed to walk off our lunch. Sooooooo many cute water fountains/ features with small sized Adirondack chairs around for the kids to sit and watch. At one end there is an awesome fire pit with adult sized and pint sized Adirondack chairs. Either it was really cold or the fire pit's "safety" size was preventing me from really feeling the heat. Love, love, loved the kids' play area. The size was just big enough and there were plenty of things for the kids to play on. I can see it getting to be a problem with space though if there had been more children in there. The selection of stores was very high end, but like others have said, "What do you expect for Marin?" read more

AWESOME play area. As a mother of two under three, this play area is a life saver. It is a small gated area outdoors with maybe 8 foam toys...canoe, bridge, rocks, frog, etc...they are small enough I can let the kids just run around on their own I am not constantly having to follow them around. (which can be hard at a play ground with two under three). The kids love it and mom loves it because I can just relax while they play. The only negative thing is that like any play ground the toys get hot in the sun. While they do have a shield above providing shade there are times when only half of the area is shaded. I wish they would have extended the shield, but other than that AWESOME area for little ones. As for the shopping I hear that they have a lot of great stores. The walkway is nice and they have some great fountains. The Cheesecake Factory here is nice for kids, while waiting for your entree they brought each child a plate with bread and banana slices. read more

I enjoyed the boutique outdoor mall experience and ambiance at The Village at Corte Madera. At either ends of the mall are your typical Macy's and Nordstrom department stores. In between are the typical stores you'd find at the mall such as Brookstone, Starbucks, Williams Sonoma, Apple, etc. Also, they also had some unique higher end stores such as Beta, Tesla, etc. This mall appeared to be pet friendly as I saw an abundance of dogs on a leash and water bowls outside some of the stores. Overall, the mall hosted a more upscale clientele which was refreshing. read more

Not a big mall fan, but this is a totally different shopping experience. Well behaved dogs are welcome in the commons areas and in many of the stores--they have a little sticker on the door and several have doggie water dishes. They also do some cool promos, including one I saw on a visit there yesterday. No through 8.13, they're having a drive to collect gently-worn denim items (jeans, jackets, denim accessories, etc.). When you donate your item, you'll receive a book with special offers good throughout the mall. All items will be donated to San Rafael's Ritter Center, a Marin multi-service agency that supports self-sufficiency for low-income families. Denim containers are located throughout the center and at the Concierge office by Starbucks (near Nordstrom). On 8.15, The Village is also sponsoring a Denim event with a dj, snacks, and other special events. read more

This place is okay. It's definitely more for the rich white people of Marin county than anybody else. It feels like an outlet mall, like the kind that you would find in Vacaville, but with none of the cheaper outlet prices. The cheapest store is probably the Macy's. And, when Macy's is your cheapest store, that gives you an idea of how pricey this place truly is. I have never personally been harassed at this location, but I have seen black people being harassed by the security guards here before. It really feels like this place was created just to get people to stop and spend their money in Marin, instead of going over the bridge and spending their money in SF. A majority of the stores here are the exact same stores that you will find in the malls in SF, except that they are smaller, and the service is slightly less good. At least as far as customer service goes. The Cheesecake Factory here has the same high prices as the SF location, but the service is a lot worse. As an example. read more

I really don't like shopping much, but The Village has been one of the places I could dash over to and find a few things when I absolutely had to bite the bullet and do some shopping. Lately it is a freaking nightmare to go to The Village- mostly due to the parking situation. I can't believe they shut down half the parking at a mall to build a new building, especially at a place that parking was already difficult. When I absolutely had to go there this last weekend, I had to park in the back and walk about 100 yards to get into the mall, only to find that there was almost nothing for me at any of the stores. There were a lot of sales but it seems like they weren't well stocked with choice goods, maybe because there is reduced customer traffic due to the parking situation. I plan to stay away until the parking issue is resolved. read more

Is it me, or does this mall really suck! The mall looks cool, but its purpose is useless. Whenever I come here, there is nothing to buy or browse. My fav stores have very very small selections to choose from and the rest of the stores just sell over-priced junk! Nothing beats Union Sq in SF, the Stanford Mall or the Valley Fair Mall in SJ. This is one of those malls where people will look you up and down and judge to see whether you're one of their own. All of the shops are more on the upscale side including Nordstroms, BR, etc. This is an outdoor mall so it's not easy to trek around when the weather is cold. I been shopping here for over two decades and I can tell you that this mall gets prettier and prettier every year. They've added a lot of really cute outdoor vignettes including the children's play area, frog fountain, and my personal favorite, the fire pit. It's an outdoor mall that is (some what) dog friendly. There are signs through out that remind dog owners to curb their dogs, not to leave their dogs unattended and to ask the individual shops prior to entering with your pet. There are dog bag stations, but I found that they were all empty on today's visit. Nordstrom has recently changed their dog policy to allow only service dogs but I've noticed that most none of the (well behaved) dogs that were shopping were turned away. Other shops in this mall that welcomed my little pug today were: Macy's (but they are not allowed on the escalators), Kate Spade, White House/Black Market, Lulemon, J Crew, Pottery Barn and the Cheesecake Factory (outdoor patio only). Only thing that I miss from the mall of yesteryear is the Hotdog on a Stick that used to be in food court that no longer exist. read more

Super dog friendly outdoor mall, it reminds me of the Palo Alto shopping center. Parking is getting harder as there is some construction and there is currently no parking structure. I typically love this mall, but they made a horrible choice in the company that managed the photos with Santa. You can make a reservation, but only if you pay the $39.99 fee and be forced into buying a photo package that we weren't going to use, or you could stand in line for more than two hours while they make their way through their reservations and walk in line. If you need to cancel the reservation a week in advance...$10 cancellation fee. Just seems like an opportunistic thing to do for the time of year. We went across the freeway to the TOWNE CENTER shopping center and walked right up to a FREE visit with Santa that came with a few prints. The first time I came to this mall, I thought it was really awesome. It was outdoors, the weather was nice, and everything just seemed fresh. It's been a few years since then. And the Village has lost its magic. First, there's the $5 toll going across the Golden Gate Bridge. Second, the mall is pretty small. Third, sadly, I'd rather go to Stanford Shopping Center, they've got more selection, it's also outdoors, and you don't have to pay a toll. Unless there's a store that you'll only find here (West Elm, for instance), or you live in the North Bay, there really isn't much to see here. read more

This is a very pleasant place to shop. It's outdoors so you don't feel like you're enclosed, it's more of a pleasant stroll. There is a unique mix of shops, many that I've only seen at this mall. They allow pets which is nice. There's always a collection of handsome dogs strolling around looking for adoring pets. Recently, this shopping Center has become as welcoming and pleasant as a door knob. There is some effort to put seats around, but absolutely no shade, and no umbrellas. The center of the mall has become completely dead, with Schwab taking over the major building there. Schwab??? What is it doing there? How exciting for shoppers! And there is not enough food choices. A hot dog stand in the middle, a coffee shop, Boudin. That's it if you want to stay away from sit-down restaurants. Where is the ice-cream? pizza? Oh well. Small, yet stoppable. I went here to check out the North bay / Marin County area. As some of you may know, I'm moving out of San Francisco to somewhere suburbish and warm. Don't get me wrong, SF is great but to live, it's the lifestyles that changes. I live in the Inner Sunset now, it's a wee out there from all the great spots, yet drivable and muni-able to get to places. It's kinda suburdanish but not really. It's quiet and away from the city. The last couple of weeks has been rather hard on me, lost my job, looking for a new one, can't afford my rent b/c no job. Looking for a place that is large enough for my things and my car. Been all over the Peninsula, South Bay area, and venturing out to the North Bay / Marin area. I think the next few days, I'm going over to the East Bay, which I don't have any clue about. About this mall, it's small but it has BR, True Religion, AnF ( not that I shop here ), Coach, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Macy's, Nordstroms, Peet's, Starbuck's, Gap, and Puma. Both this mall and Stanford mall are almost similar except I like Stanford a tad more. The drive here wasn't too bar unless you go back to SF during traffic, that's when it's chaotic. I like the 280 traffic better. 101 not so much. Did I mention Cheesecake Factory is here. It's great! read more
