There is truly something for everyone here. We met my husband's family for lunch, as we have at various locations around the Bay Area, and this was universally the best option. Easy, free parking. Accessible by train and ferry, besides car. Many different delicious food choices from delis to Greek to fancier fare, and The Rustic Bakery, which is where we ate. There is ample outdoor dining in sun and shade, besides indoor dining. Since we arrived at different times, everyone enjoyed browsing through the bookstore, and window shopping around the center. The center is very kid and dog friendly and there are lots of areas and activities for kids to explore and enjoy. It is also clean. The reason for one star off: there is a vibe that all of us felt, and others have said the same thing about the shopkeepers and some staff. I was wearing a top from one of the stores and jeans from another shop there. I popped into each store and was ignored by everyone in the first place and watched as if I might shoplift in the other store. I had only my phone in my pocket and no bag at all. It was uncomfortable-making and I left both stores, which were understandably empty. The place is delightful as a location for walking around with kids and dogs. Lots of food options. But the stores are not as friendly as other locations of the same brands. read more

What a great way to spend a Saturday! Such a beautiful location near the water with a wide variety of booths. Of course this girl went straight to the "baked goods!" I could not resist the lemon cake and the cookies! It took me 3 days to finish them:) They had fresh produce, beauty products, candles, food, clothing, accessories and more. We recently came to the Marin Country Mart for Father's Day and it was such a treat. It seems like they've been growing their community events over the years and being so close to the East Bay, we don't mind the short trip for an awesome destination. To note, they have a great Farmers Market on Saturdays and truly fun scene for foodies offering a little something for everyone. The Mart is kid-friendly and also a great place to meet with friends or stop by on the way to North Bay. Highly recommend checking the website for upcoming events! The Father's Day event had BBQ food and bev for sale, live music/seating, pony rides/animal petting area for the kiddos, and more. Def a nice afternoon out of the house and outside with the family. Personal favorite spots in the Mart: Souvla (fast-casual Greek spot), Sugar Paper for stationary/cards, Poppy Store (for baby/kiddo clothes), Birkenstock (never thought I would be such a fun growing older of their shoes), Rustic Bakery (for a quick savory or sweet), and more. Parking is ample, although the Mart does get busy on weekends/prime event time/and I'm sure now that we're into the summer months ahead. There's a few new spots I noticed over the weekend including Loveski Deli and Frankie & Jo's (plant-based ice cream). It's a great place to bring the kids. There's so many kids around and there's a play area for them to climb on. Love going here on Saturdays where there's a farmers market in the back. There's a lady who usually does an arts & craft with the kids using recycled materials. Yesterday they made a sort of "robot" doll using buttons, pipe cleaners, etc with a hot glue gun. It's for 3 and up. They have a water station near the back with bathrooms. The bathrooms are moderately clean. Stores are interesting to browse through and shop, though some of it can be quite pricey. There's a good amount of food places to go to and sit with the fam or friends. In the middle there's lots of outdoor seating. Love how there's a bookstore and toy store too! read more

High end stores, a variety of eats, a ton of community programming and family friendly makes this spot a win. While maybe not everyone's cup of tea, it's a great outdoor mall. Located right off the highway, facing the Larkspur ferry terminal this spot is a little oasis of retail and food. Some restaurant highlights: Shake Shack, Hog Island, Farmshop and a bougie donut shop, to name a few! Retail includes Jenni Kayne, Intermix, a bookstore, a few home goods store and so much more. Oh, and for those looking to workout, a Soul Cycle. There is a space with climbing logs and turf for kiddos to run around surrounded by picnic benches. We met friends on a Saturday early evening and ordered pizzas and margaritas to go from Farmshop, parked it at the large outdoor tables and watched while our kids climbed and we ate. I spied ads for their family Easter egg hunt and weekly Thursday toddler story time. Saturdays include a weekly farmers market with food trucks adding even more options. This mart is very nice but this is for the pony rides in the weekend. It looked like it was the end of their day and there was a kid with the pony folks. The ponies were tied up and maybe getting ready to go- the kid with them (I believe the pony company) was walking between the ponies and poking them in the eyes and the face. I told him to stop poking them in the eye and that it's mean and the women working there just looked at me. I hope these animals are treated humanely because this was really off putting and sad to see. read more

We love going here. We head out here after our hikes because you know....WE ARE HUNGRY! They have different food trucks set up every weekend. So it's nice to have different variety of food to choose from. So far we have not been disappointed. Plenty of parking. Different shops to check out after you are done eating to work off all that food you just ate. Clean and fresh air to enjoy while you eat. My husband likes going when Senior Sisig is here. I live in LA and have been to the Malibu County Mart, Brentwood, and the Valley Mart - they're alll nice. Try the donuts here! I know this is a strange place to go for a donut, but they make them in-house here. We tried the cinnamon twist - so much cinnamon! We also tried the cronut with cream - very very rich. Save this one for after a lighter meal. Last but not least we tried the chocolate salty old fashioned - its really not that salty, but it is in fact quite chocolatey. The donuts are not cheap. They range from $4-$6 per donut. Parking is wonderfully easy. This place sits in a strip mall with lots of available parking. read more

I walked around and browsed a bit, but ultimately set up in the Starbucks to get some work done, grabbed lunch at Sushi Ko, a doughnut at Johnny's, and browsed the bookstore. The cutest stores in this mall. Pricey but unique. My favorite thing was the huge red balloons all of the kids had. You can get (buy???) them in the post office/bookstore. The kid in me wanted one but I don't think it would fit in my car to get it home. Loved the Trading Post. Unique books for travel and memorabilia of olden times. And a huge assortment of cards to start conversations. Copperfield Books not only had a huge selection of books but also puzzles and kid gifts. A gorgeous cushion storage. Piled high with cushions of all fabrics. And lots of cute but expensive boutiques. Worth browsing in if you are in the area. read more

It's Okay. If you are a Tourist, not a place you need to visit. It's kind of touristy here. I walked around for 30 minutes They do have a 24 hour fitness that is open 24/7. They have a Shake Shack which should tell you to stay away--not my favorite place. I guess this place is popular with commuters getting off the boat--have a drink and dinner I guess before going home? They have a very overpriced donuts shop. It just was not my scene--may be yours. Smart & sassy shopping center situated next to Corte Madera Creek, which leads out the San Francisco Bay. The Golden Gate Ferry lands here. We watched crowds of people disembark. In the distance, one can see Mt. Tam. Lovely to watch the sunset at this location. At Marin Country Mart there's candy shop, barbershop, children's playground, yoga business, brewery, men and women clothing boutiques, cycling store, upper-end restaurant, shoe vending & repair Johnny's doughnuts and much more. The perimeter of Marin Country Mart has a white railed fence encircling the property. Easy to walk about and find things of interest. If you wish to sit and people watch, while enjoying your Three Twins ice cream, you'll be able to locate many benches and seating for the taking. Great shopping center. They have speciality boutiques (clothing stores, doggy bakery and gift shop, kitchenware), restaurants with varying price points, Rustic Bakery, Bed Bath and Beyond, 24 hour fitness, SoulCycle, Togos, several business services (such as dentist, dry cleaners, optometrist, financial services), and so much more. They have a children's play area and plenty of benches and picnic tables throughout the center to rest a spell. They have custodians walking around keeping everything tidy including the restrooms. The center is within walking distance to the ferry terminal. For summer, the Country Mart provides complimentary events: Sunday farmers market 9-2, Sunday festival 12:30-2:30, Wednesday family friendly movie night 5:30 & 7:30, and Friday night concerts 6-9pm. Giant Log In Country Mart = FUN! SITREP There are so many things to like about the Marin Country Mart: the stores, such as Diesel and Rustic Bakery. The Larkspur 24 HR FITNESS. But what has captured my imagination in this moment is.... We spent a good 30 minutes just hamming it up in and around the log. SPECTACULAR VIEWS TOWARDS THE FERRY There were some really nice walkways adjacent to the Country Mart that allowed for some pretty beautiful views over the water. And being near Sunset, the afforded spectacular views of both light and shadows over the surrounding scenery. OTHER AMENITIES The Country Mart also serves as the primary steward for all its associated businesses. When asking a few of these different businesses if we could use the restroom, several of them - including Diesel & Rustic Bakery - directed us towards the central core of the Country Mart to access these facilities. [Though it should be noted the 24 HR Fitness had it's own rest room and shower facilities located inside their area, but were for members only.] ACCESSIBILITY * As is typical of the malls that I've accessed around Marin County communities, they are not the easiest to access by vehicle, nor are they indicated by the most direct routes by GPS. * Even more unfortunate, is the lack of signage on the outside and around the perimeter of the Country Mart, which would be helpful if just to direct you to the few "openings" from where you can get into the interior of the Country Mart. We would have spent less time looking lost on the outside if such signage had been present. Nor once inside on the ends did I see an area where there was a directory. It's as if only those who "know" what they want, and "know" how to get around, are really encouraged to browse, forage and snoop around. If anything, this is the main thing that me disappointed about this spot. * But at least in this instance, there was ample parking and we had no problem finding a spot. THE LOWDOWN Marin Country Mart makes for a fun stop, even more enjoyable once you're more familiar with it. read more

Very cool farmers market here on Saturdays. Definitely worth a visit. Lots of vendors selling fresh produce and seafood. Good choice of food vendors also. We walked around the shopping center as well and there are lots of stores and restaurants. Bought doughnuts at Johnny Doughnuts. Will definitely come back to visit. read more

I've enjoyed coming here for 5 years now... I've watched the Country Mart bring in some serious big hitters on the way too (i.e. Farmshop, Rustic). The line-up is high-end, no doubt... but it's a fun outdoorsy way to get the vitamin D in, and satisfying for the foodie....especially when you come either on Saturday for the FM, or Sunday for the food trux. Either way, it's classy, family-oriented (not so much choice of shops, but the outside spaces), safe, and across the street from the ferry...which essentially connects to a trail. If you want to get really active, bring a bike to this area and exercise, or do what I did: walk a few blocks to the kayak place and rent one and get on the water in Larkspur. So much fun. read more

Other than the anchor store Bed & Bath, the Mart is definitely a commuter mall. You're either coming from/going to the Larkspur Ferry which is across from this shopping center. And the Marin Country Mart is so small. How small is it you ask?? It's so small you could hold your breath and count to ten and have walked down the center section of the mall from end to end. Two very hip clothing stores: Calypso (like St. Barts, Carribbean attire) and Malia Mills which has the most avant garde styles. There are about 4 places to eat during the day (Marin Brewing Company, Rustic Bakery, Belcampo Meat Co, and a thai restaurant) and add a sushi restaurant open at dinner time. Belcampo has a very interesting butcher-meets-cafe interior and the food is good - this is the most unique food store in the mall. For those of you who can't do without, yes, there is a Starbucks. Otherwise, go for dessert at the a frozen yogurt shop but I would highly recommend instead the Three Twins Ice Creamery (one of their few stores in the Bay Area). Plenty of outdoor seating but there is a mix of gravel walkways and concrete so you can kick up a bit of dust walking around. My Saturday morning visit coincided with seeing the farmer's market (FM) which is a joke compared to the Ferry Plaza FM in San Francisco. They had maybe 2 food stalls, same but fewer produce vendors as in SF, a smaller representation of cheese vendors than in SF's Sat FPFM. Having ferried over after enjoying a cool CUESA-sponsored cooking demo with famous chef Joyce Goldstein at the FPFM and seeing all the hustle bustle and crowds, the Marin Country Mart was a let down. On the upside, it's bright hot and sunny in Larkspur but other than that, I would say this place is a passing fancy. read more

I'm from SoCal and recently transplanted to the Bay Area, so we're kind of used to the "country mart" kind of deal. In Malibu it's a place where you can hang out, eat a $15 croissant and coffee under a tree in an amazing "rustic" landscaped space and chat with "friends". When you're finished the chat, you can shop in eclectic little boutiques that sell bohemian, soft as silk cotton clothing for a couple of boat bucks a blouse. (Brentwood, similar kind of deal, except it's next to a gas station they try to hide.) Larkspur has such a place, the Marin Country Mart. The other reviews tell of renovations, I suppose that's why there's a BB&B and a Togo's sandwich shoppe here, otherwise it would be more solidly in line with the SoCal cousins...LOL! Calypso St. Barth is here, so yes, you can get your fabulously expensive little cotton shift dress, skip across to the bookshoppe and get and art book or something, and then stop at one of the many restaurants and have some humanely raised meat dish. (Nothing against that practice, I think organic/humane is the A+ way to go.) I guess I'm sounding a little jaded, but when I was walking through today, I overheard a couple of women talking and it really just sounded like some Housewives episode or something...kind of turned me off. I did however have an awesome time at the bookstore and did get to the BB&B. ;) One of things I noticed is that a few of the shopkeeping folks are kind of, well, aloof. Life's too short for me to patronize such businesses, so I'll probably skip it next time 'round. I'm giving it 4 stars for location, since it's all about that. Right on the landing in Larkspur. Look out over the water and see some boats come and go...that's nice. The air is fresh, the breezes are blowing, and there's great light there, so try it out if you're in the mood for a croissant & a coffee! TIP: * Parking lot always seems full. Try to turn right when you come into the main entrance-not many people go that way. (over in front of the 24 Fitness) *If you want to make a day out of it, leave the car in the city and take the ferry out. It docks right on the other side of the MCM and there's a pedestrian foot bridge that takes you RIGHT into the MCM. :) *They have a doggy potty garden, so feel free to bring that along. *Quite a few kid-friendly areas for play and shopping, so if you've got 'em, they'll feel right at home. read more

Nice shopping center with boutiques and restaurants. Some of the stores are on the more expensive side. There is also a Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I recommend eating at rustic bakery for lunch. Palo Alto Shopping Center: The Mini Version. This place was really pretty and nice, but also, it felt a little dystopian in that everything was a little bit too perfect-- the fake grass, the pristine stores, the friendly shopkeepers in their respective boutiques...it just felt like something you'd built in the Sims come to life. There were tons of people sitting outside Rustic Bakery at lunch given the business park across the way. It's also right across the street from the ferry from SF (about an hour ride), which is super convenient. read more

Lovely surprise to see this on my way to Muir Woods. My friends and I stopped by and were wide-eyed by the different bakeries, and farms showing off their products. I ordered an onion quiche from one of the tents, and I was so distracted by the yumminess, that I totally forgot the name of the place I got it from! Marin Country Mart's face-lift is finally complete... and I'm happy to report that she's a beauty. The last time I reviewed this shopping center, it was still a work in progress. It wasn't quite ready for prime-time. But now that all the landscape work is complete, the area now boasts a sunny courtyard area with plenty of trees & plants, picnic tables, new shops, etc. It's a real delight to stroll thru this shopping oasis. Clearly, I'm not the only one who has noticed the improvements. I couldn't believe how crowded this place was on a Saturday morning. Lines were out the door at Rustic Bakery and Starbucks; weekend warriors were filing out of Sol Cycle and Yoga Tree classes; yuppy families were strolling their babies with big smiles on their faces; and folks were nursing beers & burgers at Marin Brewing Company's patio. Also, I was surprised to see so many people with dogs (which, as a dog owner, I really appreciated). Everyone just looked happy to be here! This is not your average shopping center. This place is a total destination. After all, how many malls do you know in the suburbs that have valet parking?! So if you're looking to quickly park & shop, then this is probably not the mall for you. But if you're looking for a leisurely day to catch up with friends over coffee & lunch in a lovely setting and maybe do some shopping, then I'd highly recommend paying a visit to the Marin Country Mart. read more

It used to be called "Larkspur Landing" then they gussied it up, added stylish outdoor seating, moved in some overpriced retail - and voila! Marin Country Mart was born! Don't get me wrong, in addition to the farmers market, there are a few restaurants (Farmshop, Rustic Bakery, Tha Siam) and shops (George, Diesel) that I like, but overall the retail is so expensive that this is a place where I rarely shop. The parking lot here is big, but if it's a beautiful weekend with the farmers market going, parking can be tough. If you have kids, this is the spot for you - lots of kids running around and parents hanging out. If you're looking for a quiet spot to sit outside and enjoy a coffee, sans kids, this probably isn't the place for you, esp on weekends. I waver between 3 and 4 stars for MCM. 3 because the stores are so expensive and the clientele can be irritatingly "me-centric." 4 because there are some great eateries and the outdoor areas are really nice and well kept..... read more

I have no complaints about the Restaurant the parking lot or the gym, the real problem is the security guard on the gulf car. If you're brown or dark skin get ready to get proffield. Hes proffield me 3 times I have seen him call the cops on African American for talking on the phone in the parking. I have seen the devil, and she's wearing yoga pants and pushing a Bugaboo double-wide stroller right into my shins while she obliviously yaks with her girlfriend on her phone about how faaaabulous the Marin County Mart is. Seriously. One bonus star for the food trucks on Sunday. But this place is such a nauseating stereotype. I say this as someone who generally likes upscale malls, but the good ones in that category, like the Westfield in SF, bring together at least something of a cross-section of people. This one seems custom-designed to appeal almost solely to a crowd of rich annoying Marin soccer moms and their entitled little hellions. The overly-precious pink-awninged retail mix seems designed to mimic the Malibu and Brentwood "Country Marts" in L.A. - which were created by the same developer to appeal to the same pretentious crowd down south. Too bad Britney Spears and her kids don't live in Marin. I remember the old Larkspur Landing. And I miss it. read more

Whoever acquired this location has turned it in to a disaster zone. It is beginning to look like a SoCal theme park instead of a cohesive part of the Marin environment. White, corral-type fencing, lots of wood chips, stupid areas of dirt along the pedestrian walkways, ridiculous branding - when will this atrocity end? If a SoCal organization is going to try to expand in to other areas, to be successful they need to appreciate the environment that they are buying in to, and not try to impose a poorly fitting pastiche of what local shopping should be about. read more
