Save your time and effort and do not choose the village bank. It's been nothing but horrible experiences since I chose them two years ago. Monday, I am changing to a credit union.
What put me over the edge:
On Friday, I found that my redecoration of my apartment had put me near my daily transaction limit. Fine, no problem, I understand those are in place in case your card is stolen, so I called in to raise it so I could make a plane ticket purchase. I had to call 6 times before someone picked up. He told me he'd have to check with the manager. After a hold for 7 min hold he came back and said that it would be lifted, for just the amount of the plane tickets, for 30 min. Excuse me? It's my account and also my money and my limit. In addition, I tried several times, and the manager had actually never executed the raise. (This is not the first time she has failed to help in a situation of mine.) Naturally, I inquired if I now couldn't use my card for a certain time. I was told that it would be 24 hrs until my card worked again. But being that they are closed on weekends, that meant Monday. So, cut off completely from my account for the entire weekend. I inquired if I could use ATM , and he said yes, I could use ATM. I went downstairs and the ATM rejected my card. I called back and was told it had to be a village bank ATM. Which of course is not convenient when I'm traveling for work. So, here I am, unable to use my credit card or an ATM at all. Oh, and they have started canceling all the orders I made on Friday, though they were below my limit.
So, please, save yourself the trouble, go get a DCU account. read more
