The doctor only sees you once a year which may be normal some places but was a change from every dentist I've been to in the past. Beware of this place. They will send a bill from 3-4 years ago with overdue balances. I was there in 2021, 2022 and 2023. I got a text message (with no details on why) last week saying I owe something. I was puzzled since I haven't been there in at least 6 months. When I inquired about it, they aid they switched over to some new system and they are going back and collecting balances. This is supposedly from 2021! Why wasn't I told I had a balance when I visited in 2022 and 2023? Why was there no mail sent out for years? Who is to say another 3 years from now, I won't get another text? Shady practice, poor customer service (still haven't got a call back from the person who can explain this bill)...way too many choices to put up with this sort of shenanigans. read more

It took us 8 months to get my daughter in for a cleaning that could take place after 3 pm. We were then surprised to find out (a week before her appointment) that they no longer accept our insurance. They said they've been sending emails out since May about the insurance change but I checked my inbox and I've received none. Dr Stuart and Staff are WONDERFUL! After a long tainted tooth past, I've begun a complete oral restoration. I compared 3 dental offices estimates and treatment plans and was well informed. The long process terrified me and I've put it off causing more issues. I went in for a routine dental visit and I don't feel I received good care. I was aspirating and I ended up in the emergency room afterward with fever, uncontrollable shivering, and aspiration pneumonia. At the end of the day, my routine dental visit and ER fees ended up costing me $800. I would strongly advise others to seek another dentist. read more

The front desk is absolutely horrible...rude....HIPAA violations left and right. The dentist were nice so we overlooked the rude front desk. My wife and I both had work there. Almost 9 months later we get a bill for and it doesn't state what it's for? So we call and it ends up being one bill for both my wife and myself and for the work we had 9 months ago. I guess not everything was covered by our insurance but we were made to pay the difference before we got the work done? So I don't understand why we got a second bill so much later. Today (7-21-20), I had a horrible experience at BLVD Dental Rice Village. Sophia was the first time and the last time she will be my dental hygienist. I told her I could not hear her, every time I had to tell her to repeat herself. I had the worst painful oral service with Sophia. My previous visits have never been a issue until today. Sophia was dismissive, and does not listen to the patients. Sophia was not friendly and not affable. I asked what was my measurements, with disposition she said "I have to finish measuring before I can tell you"... Sophia was unprofessional. Her demeanor and exchange was limited and credulous. Y'all. Dr. Christenson received an after hours message from me when I was in the middle of a dental crisis (stress-eating gummi bears due to MIL issues and crown popped off). She got me in the next morning and fixed me right up! Keep in mind that this was in December - the busiest time of year for her with everyone using up their FSA/HSA dollars and benefits. She was not about to let one of her patients go through a day of discomfort or risk getting any bacteria into my tooth. Love her!!!!! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I had a root canal with crown done here, went in for a deep cleaning, and came home to a throbbing tooth. This root canal was done in July and here we are in October. Instead of addressing the problems, Dr. Christenson referred me to Gulf Coast. They were adamant about a 3D scan, which showed the tooth was fractured. It was fine up until the deep cleaning (too deep maybe?). They failed to refund me for their mistake, strike one. I later had a cavity, which the Dr. told me I just needed a crown. Crown are expensive just an FYI. After getting the procedure done, I noticed a throbbing pain. Went back, and again was referred out.... I decided that this pattern was consistent in my treatment here. I ended up finding switching dentist office and finding my own endodontic who told me a root canal was needed all along, not a crown. Felt very much scammed from this place, there are better options. Save yourself your time, money, frustration and decrease your chance of being misdiagnosed and having to pay more to treat the actual problem. All I endured was being treated for a problem that wasn't actually the end all be all problem and having to go elsewhere and try to fix what they failed to. I stopped coming here for treatment back in November. My insurance was maxed out due to their misdiagnosis. Paid upfront for all my dental procedures because of insurance, and here we are in April with them contacting me for more payment. Save your pocket and find a better dental places! read more

I went to BLVD dentistry for tooth pain as a first time patient as I normally see a dentist out of state. I reported a head cold at the time but otherwise was well. The pain was there for a week or so and worse at night. After examining the tooth and trying to reproduce the pain the dentist was unable to cause the pain again. She recommended a root canal and sent to to the front desk who offered me a same day appointment with another dentist across town for my root canal. First of all: she found no evidence of a problem and she sends me for oral surgery! That makes no sense. Second: I told her I had a cold and this is often a cause of tooth pain. I called my long term dentist back home and he was shocked this was what happened. He told when the head cold goes away the pain will likely too. IT DID! Stay away for this place! I was able to book my bi-annual cleaning easily and within a week from the day I called. The appointment was at 7am which was super convenient for me as my work day starts at 9am. Upon my arrival, there was little wait even with the new patient forms I signed. Dr. Laredo conducted my cleaning and went through the areas of concern. I had similar feedback on my visit to another dentist 6 months prior, however, due to appt availability I was not able to get the treatment scheduled. Dr Laredo assured me the 2 fillings I had that needed replacing would not be time consuming and could be done immediately. I'm so happy we went through with the treatment as I had a major cavity underneath my filing! It wasn't visible on the X-ray! I am very happy with my visit to BLVD, especially with the quality of service of the entire staff and the convenience of being able to have my cleaning and treatment completed before the start of my workday! read more

Here at BLVD, Dr. Ramsey is unremarkable! I searched for a dentistry close to home for 2 weeks and finally narrowed my results down to BLVD (best decision ever). I game them a call ASAP to schedule an appointment, and I was soo stunned that they were able to fit me in for the next day. When I arrived the next day, I was greeted warmly by the staff. I had to fill out paperwork (which was expected) and get registered in their system. When I was called back, I asked for the full workup; Exam, Deep cleaning, and Teeth Whitening. Personally, I've been wanted to try the teeth whitening procedure for a while now, but I've been waiting to go to the right dentist. I can say that they outperformed my expectations. My teeth were healthy and now whiter. Even my husbands loves how white they are. With that said, this is definitely a professional, homey, prestige dentist. I trust their work and I will definitely continue my 6 months visit with them. I highly recommend to anyone in the Houston Area!! read more

I arrive for my 8am appointment. Everything was easy up until I saw the Dental Hygienist (Sofia). She was a bit rude and had a very arrogant demeanor. She said my teeth and gums were not in good shape based on my brushing and flossing habits. She states that I need to have a deep cleaning service performed in order to ensure that I get the appropriate treatment for what she's seen. However, I am not about to agree to just any service that's being presented to me without seeing the actual Dentist, so I ask Sofia "do I have a choice if I have to do the deep cleaning?" and she responds that in order to fix the problem then I would need a deep cleaning. Waited about 15-20 mins before the Dentist came in, with Sofia standing nearby (I assume behind me, or near their working station). Dr. Stuart was warm, welcoming, and had EXCELLENT bedside manner. She pulled my x-rays up on the screen and began her exam. Dr. Stuart does a quick examination of my teeth, and begins to talk me through her thought process. She concluded that I was inbetween the "routine cleaning" and "deep cleaning" but my teeth and gums weren't absolutely requiring a deep cleaning. She added, "I can tell you take great care of your teeth and brush well" *RECALL HOW SOFIA STATED OTHERWISE IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH* "and the only issue would just be some very minor things that a routine cleaning and gingival irrigation would take care of. I do not think you should get a deep cleaning today." By this time, it's 9am. An hour into my visit and my routine cleaning hasn't started. After Dr. Stuart and Sofia leave, enters in the individual who handles billing and insurance. She misquotes me for the deep cleaning but I tell her we aren't doing that. The girl then says "we can see you back in at 2pm for your routine cleaning" ... what? I scheduled an appointment for 8am for my routine cleaning, and now I have to come back at 2pm? When a patient schedules a doctor visit, we allow about 2-3 hours depending on the service but I have never been asked to "come back later." I kindly ask her why I am not able to be seen, and she tells me that "the Dental Hygienist is not able to perform the routine cleaning at this time" Confused, I ask for some more clarification and she states "since Sofia recommended a deep cleaning, she is only able to do that and not a standard routine." What? The girl walks me back out to the front desk so that I can schedule my return visit. The office manager states that she will call me before 5pm that same day and see if she can squeeze my routine cleaning and gingival irrigation later that week. 5pm. No phone call. 5:30 I call them and the billing/insurance girl picks up. She remembers me from earlier and tries to squeeze me in, Dec 31st at 7am for... get this, A DEEP CLEANING. I remind her again, kindly, Dr. Stuart recommended a routine cleaning with gingival irrigation. The girl says that she will need to talk to Dr. Stuart tomorrow to confirm. I am still confused I seek further clarification and ask her again what happened earlier that morning and why I wasn't able to be seen. She explains that because Sofia recommended a different treatment plan (deep cleaning) than Dr. Stuart (routine cleaning plus gingival irrigation), Sofia would not be doing my routine cleaning because she doesn't believe that it would be an effective treatment. I asked, "so you're telling me that because a Dental Hygienist doesn't agree with the Dentist, the Dental Hygienist can just choose to not perform what the Dentist recommends?" The girl responded, "We respect each other's opinions and treat it the same way as if you would get a second opinion from a different doctor." I responded, "yes, I understand getting second opinions from two different doctors, however this is between Dr. Stuart and Sofia, and only one of them has been through dental school." I explained that not to be condescending or undermining the training and education required for a Dental Hygienist, however there is a clear distinction of professional practice between a Dentist (a doctor) and a Dental Hygienist (not a doctor). She replied, "we value each of our team member's opinions and if Sofia did not feel comfortable performing the routine cleaning without deep cleaning, that is why we recommended you come back later that day where Imelda, our other Dental Hygienist, could perform the routine cleaning and gingival irrigation. The next day I get a call from the office manager, who apologizes for the confusion and says she can squeeze me in the morning before Christmas Eve. Apparently they had scheduled someone else during my original appt, and Sofia was no longer available that morning, which is why they had to ask me to come back later to see Imelda, the other hygienist. All this to say, for my return appointment, Imelda was an incredible dental hygienist. In conclusion: DON'T LIE TO PATIENTS! If there was a miscommunication, why did the insurance/billing girl say all that? read more

When you give one (time) appointment for a family of three it is understood that they are going to get the cleaning done all at the same time, but instead, when they show up for their appointment you do one at a time leading to a collective waste of three hours. I've never felt the need to post reviews on Yelp before, but the suspect business practices at BLVD Rice Village motivated me to post my first review. I'm giving them 2 stars, as the dental care itself was good, and the staff is friendly, but they have a history of deceiving patients into thinking they need more work than they require and billing for unnecessary, expensive services (especially if you have insurance). There are other reviews on here that attest to this pattern of behavior, and I can confirm from experience. I was a patient here for a few years, and despite having few dental issues in the past, the dentists and staff consistently convinced me that I needed lots of dental work and that my teeth were in bad shape. I became wary when they said I required an extremely expensive dental cleaning ($400+) and other preventive work ($500+). Given the high cost of these services, I felt it wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion. The second opinion I received was from a highly reputed dentist consistently rated by Houstonia Magazine as a "Top Dentist." He checked my teeth thoroughly and confirmed that the issues the BLVD dentists identified were exaggerated, and the procedures they wanted me to pay for were completely unnecessary. I recently switched over to him--the service is much better and their business practices are much more ethical. Healthcare providers are in a position of power due to their knowledge and perceived authority, and it's important to have providers you trust and who have your best interests in mind. BLVD Rice Village's deceptive and unethical business practices show their disregard for patients' best interests; thus, I am no longer a patient here. read more

So I had to find a dentist and I decided to come here and I have no complaints. Everyone in the office were so nice and welcoming. It was so clean and peaceful in there. I really appreciate how they gave a tour of the facility before doing anything. Every step was explained thoroughly before anything was done to my teeth. They helped me understand my xrays and all. 5 for Dr. Abusada, 3 for the rest of the experience. Wanted to get the fullest of my insurance before hit that magical age where I am no longer on my parents health insurance. Went in to get quite a bit done. It's strange. I called them beforehand, having had a full cone CT scan done before. They kept insisting to get a new patient x-ray done, which honestly I don't think was necessary. I asked them a week in advance to get my information over as soon as possible from my endodontist, but they never got it. After some negotiation, they finally said that if my insurance does not cover the x-ray's, I won't be responsible for the cost. The assistant taking the x-ray's was good, but on occassion had to take and re-take the same position. The saving grace was Dr. Abusada, who explained to me what my options were and what kind I should get done. They also broke down how much I was expected to pay, which was quite nice, and I wouldn't have an unexpected bill. However, reading on the estimate of what I should be paying, BLVD's prices are really up there. Cleaning was done well by April, a great experience. Then it came to get some fillings re-done. Excellent work by Dr. Abusada. However, the assistant kept jamming the vacuum hard against my gums. I had to stop them mid-way through to just say ease off. TL:DR version, Pros: Excellent Dentists, Explain costs to you well. Cons: Assistants could be a bit more gentle, costs for treatment is pretty high, Still not sure if I would choose them as my dentist, but it's only because of the rather high cost. If it's not that much of a concern or if you have plenty of cash, then go ahead. read more

This location is nice and very clean. The office staff is friendly and responsive. I've never had to question how much something will cost or if it's covered because they always contact insurance and provide a written estimate before performing any service. I've seen Dr. Abusada and she is very friendly and has always done great work. Most times they were able to do all of my dental work same day even if it was unexpected. read more

I'm one of those strange people who loves going to the dentist, mostly because I've had a lifetime of great experiences with awesome dentists. (I went to the same one from childhood through grad school until I decided to grow up & stop driving back home for from Austin/Dallas for cleanings! lol) The staff is nice and courteous and Dr. Dara is very sweet and personable. Service is always quick (30 mins today for my 2 fillings!). I never feel pressured about scheduling or like I have to get everything done in one day. Dr. Dara is also pretty gentle (as much as you can be with drills and sharp objects right?) so I don't dread cleanings/fillings/etc because of her light touch. Anyway, check it out people. I had a very similar experience to the other 1 star reviews on here and wish I would have read these before going. I came in as a new patient after moving to the area and wanted a routine teeth cleaning. My first appointment, which I thought was a teeth cleaning, ended up being an hour and a half and all we accomplished were the x rays. I had to set a second appointment to do the actual cleaning. I am then told that the dentist recommends I get a deeper laser cleaning which costs an additional $250 that my insurance doesn't cover- SHOCKER! I told them I appreciate the recommendation but am just interested in getting a regular cleaning that is covered by my insurance. They refused!! HAHA- I have never experienced this before. They said they only perform services that they recommend which based on other reviews seems to be the name of the game for them- pushing for more expensive and potentially unnecessary services. This is the worst customer service I have ever had at a dentist and the receptionist Emily is incredibly rude- it is amazing they put her at the front to greet their clients. I would avoid this place and find a practice that treats their customers better, gives them choices, and then lets THEM choose what service to get. read more

If you have dental insurance and don't want to pay extra for the cleaning you already pay for DO NOT COME HERE. I read all the reviews and before each person got near my mouth I said do not do anything whatsoever that my insurance does not cover. And when I sat with the billing woman said the same thing as she suggested So out there costs for pain meds and numbering, if your insurance doesn't provide it there is a reason, you likely don't need it. Medical doesn't cover the heart transplant and make a patient pay out of pocket for the anesthesia. Everyone in the office thought I was rude because I asked multiple times are you sure my insurance covers this. And here I am few weeks post appointment and what do you know the fluoride they said up and down was covered by my insurance wasn't. It's moments like this I'm so thankful to have yelp elite status. Trust the other reviewers this place treats dental care like a low budget airline! Everything is an additional cost and they are incredibly cryptic when the folks from billing review your plan with you! I made the woman reprint the bill to show exactly what my insurance covered and they love this estimated game or hidden fees! You service delta dental, I highly doubt I'm the only delta dental patient you have had, your job as dental bill is to know what is covered and share that information with the provider and patient, if you are giving me a list of estimated costs what is your job then even? Never in my life had medical or dental said well we estimate the cost, that's the whole point of different layers of coverage plan you know what is covered and what's out of pocket expenses! When I sat with billing and voiced my concerns over the yelp reviews of people saying they were ripped off she proceeded to say that girl didn't pay attention, that person was crazy, that was a unique case, etc. Fellow yelpers get yourself another dentist! I started coming here a few years ago when it was Floss and saw Dr. Ramsey. The transition from Floss to BLVD was smooth for existing clients like myself. Since becoming BLVD, a few things have changed, but for the best. The front desk staff seems more helpful now, and communication with patients is clear and professional but casual enough to not be intimidating or overwhelming. I get reminded about upcoming dental appointments in at least 3 ways: A letter about 2 months before, a call the day before, and a text or email the day of. I believe there are communication preferences you can set up with the staff. They are pretty good about checking with my insurance about coverages before I come so they will give me the yearly x-rays I need or let me know that my insurance covers the fluoride treatment. I recently went for my cleaning and the hygienist was one I hadn't seen before, and she did an excellent job. She noted some issues I have with brushing and gave recommendations. After your cleaning, the staff goes over your "treatment plan" with you and makes sure you understand what is recommended to improve your dental health and opens a discussion about what, if anything else, you need to schedule appointments for. I like going to the dentist and am sure to get my cleanings every 6 months. Which is good for me, because since I consistently get my cleanings at BLVD, I get free teeth whitening once a year. I've been coming here for 3 years, and never have I had any trouble with redeeming my free whitening. On my most recent x-ray, a cavity was found and I needed my first filling since I was a kid. I scheduled an appointment later that week with Dr. Dara. She was kind and gentle and made sure all of my questions were answered. She took extra care in shaping the filling to make sure I could comfortably bite and floss. She even called me a few days later to check up and make sure that I had no pain or issues with my new filling. Overall, the space is clean, modern and comfortable, the staff is efficient and the doctors are friendly and professional. read more

This review is not about the actual dental care-- that part was fine and painless. However, their billing is questionable. Make sure you review your bill line by line because they behave as if they are going under financially. After my last cleaning, they attempted to charge me $15 for "explaining" the procedure to me. I politely told them I would not pay that and they subsequently removed it from my bill. How can you charge a patient for an explanation of the services they are going to receive? Does a surgeon ever cut open a body without SPEAKING TO THEM ABOUT THE PROCEDURE? They try to charge you for optional services and products (I didn't ask for an electric toothbrush-- remove that from my bill). This place is overly priced, honestly. They recommended a treatment much more invasive than I wanted and they refused to do the basic cleaning I asked for-- essentially mandating you get the expensive treatment, or nothing at all. They're pretty aggressive all around. If you want a clean, pretty dentist office, this is your place. Other than that, I'd advise you to go elsewhere. read more
