My last dentist experience with a different office was so unpleasant I quickly avoided any dentist as a whole. But my teeth couldn't be neglected anymore, and I was aware I needed a few things worked on. Last week I search and read SO MANY REVIEWS, and naturally I pay close attention for the bad one, but Dr. Herbst office had nothing but great reviews. So I reach out to them and I instantly felt an ease with them, and made an appointment. I had my first appointment this morning, and before walking in I already knew how much I would be expected to pay. The transparency of serving and pricing was so comforting. The Staff is just all around welcoming, and professional. They knew what they were doing and they definitely enjoyed their job - I could tell by their energy at 8:30am in the morning! Dr. Walding was great and walked me through everything he was doing and what he would want to do next. I truly left his office understanding both the treatment and also the financial responsibility I have. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone, and even more to those that value costumer service from not only the staff but the Dentist. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews and always focus on the positive but this was a Very disappointing experience. James Herbst provided a recommendation on my teeth to get a filling that was not at all necessary as I got two other opinions from prominent dentists who rejected the need. Thank goodness for the additional opinions!! Also what bothered me greatly was he kept touching my shoulder. Probably 3-4 times! I just wanted to run away! He didn't even review the xrays with me which I have never seen happen in all my years of going to the dentist in various states. I have never felt so uncomfortable. read more

I went to Dr. Herbst DDS (Dr. H. ) for the first time because he was on my dental plan and his proximity to my residence. Dr. Herbst Informed me that I needed two crowns on my upper left molars. The reason I went to him was that I was experiencing pain and pustules of pus on one of the two molar crowns in question. Several days later, I informed Dr. H. that I was still in pain subsequent to the prescription antibiotic mouth wash he prescribed for me. He informed me that the pain would go away once the new crown arrived. The new crown arrived and I informed him that I had to re-order additional antibiotic mouthwash and my tooth was still in pain. He insisted that everything will be fine once He inserted the new crown. I was very reluctant to have the new crown place over my aching tooth. I wanted him to realize that I absolutely did not want the new crown without further investigation. I informed him that I requested a second opinion from my doctor at MD Anderson. I was confident that he would stop with my request. Dr. H proceeded to Informed me in a manner of authority that I did not have cancer and placed the new crown over my infected root canal. After a Short time, my new crown was seeping puss. When I returned to see him he became very nervous and started to call other dental specialists. I walked out informing him that I would not trust anyone he recommended. Needless to say, my new crown and root canal had to be extracted at great cost. I am very disappointed in this dentist. I could have filed a complaint with the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. I just hope that this negative experience will make Dr. H realize that he must have more respect in listening to his female patients, in lieu of focusing on the remuneration he will receive by inserting a new crown. read more

I've been going to this dental office for years. Best service hands down! The office is simply beautiful and the customer service is the best from the time you walk in until you leave. Dr. Herbst and his team are extremely experienced. If you have a dental problem they have a solution. They're so good my daughter currently lives in Atlanta, but she schedules her dental appointments to coincide when she comes to visit Houston. Emerson is my dental assistant who takes his time and explains what going on if there are any dental issues I'm experiencing. He's GREAT!!! This is a 5 star office hands down! Family.I've been going here for five years even after I moved all the way to the Woodlands. The staff is incredibly courteous and personable. Dr. Herbst is Very thorough and super friendly. It is a pretty safe assumption that no one likes to go to the dentist. I am no different. When I was a child, I had no choice but to obey the will of my parents and go to the dreaded chair. Part of the perks of being an adult is that I opted to NOT schedule a visit with any dentist for years, despite having beautiful dental insurance available. As I've grown older, I reconsidered and resumed my visits after referral to him by my physician*. The office is in the Galleria area and the quality of the staff and care is superb. The office manager, Kim, is always pleasant in setting up appointments and in providing solid estimates of what services will cost. There are three hygenists; I've worked primarily with Annette with Toni as backup if Annette is on vacation for the cleanings. Annette had been with Dr. Herbst's predecessor before he bought the practice. She was my hygenist in my reintroduction to "the" chair. Since she could hurt me on the next visit, let's just say that she looks great for all of her years of experience. Made the return to modern dentistry easy with her easy-going and funny personality. The doctor himself is quite a looker and, more importantly, highly personable. I won't go into more detail - you can find him online and see for yourself. Since its really hard to flirt with a man who has his gloved fingers in your mouth, a paper bib around your neck, and a bright light focused on your gums, let me tell you that the doc really cares about how you're feeling during the process and talks you through the steps that he'll be doing in order to assuage any fears. Great chairside manner. And, I'm there for the dentristry, not the dentist. 'Cause no one likes to see the dentist. *Sidebar: I love, love my physician visits. Even when I had to have an in-office abscess lanced and drained.** **Sidebar to sidebar: If you're one of those types that say "I want to experience everything at least once in my life", I suggest skipping "abscess lance and drain". Dr. Herbst has been taking care of my gorgeous smile for almost 10 years now. Every time I go for my check-up, I am reminded why his practice has kept my business. It's all about his and his team's service, attention and competence. New office renovated. Seems lots bigger and they've installed some new gadgets like ceiling mounted TVs with headphones to use while getting cleaning/procedures done, digital x-rays and an electronic dental record. Overall, nice change and the staff seem happy which definitely transfers to me feeling comfortable and well taken care of while "in the chair." As soon as I walked in the door the front desk girl, Kim, knew my name without having ever met me before, talk about customer service! I feel like I have been going here for years! The only opinions I had towards dentists is that they're bad news. I can't blame my mom for always picking some mean dentists, I mean after all, Yelp didn't exist when she decided I needed braces. At last! Another Yelper referred Dr. Herbst to me and I'm glad I checked them out. The front desk lady, Kim, is such a joy to talk to. She was very thorough with all my payments (yes, all because I had to make four visits in just a few months) and made sure that I understood how my insurance policy worked. This really helped because I hadn't had much experience with adulthood and using insurance on my own. I'm a big kid now. My first visit was for a cleaning and I had Kathy. She was BEYOND nice and if you like good stories, you should see her. The majority of the time I was so caught up with listening to her that I forgot she was scrubbing down my teeth. I don't know much about cleanings (yes, again, note my previous fear of visiting dentists), but I think she did a great job! She then referred me to Dr. Herbst who evaluated all the things I needed down to my teeth. Four visits later, I got all my yucky cavities filled and I will DEFINITELY start taking care of my teeth better. Awesome service! I had bad experience when I was a child and followed my mom to the dentist very often (especially when I was 6-10 years old). I'm the biggest chicken of the dentist. From what I hear many are. The Dr. Is one of my customers and I found out he was a dentist. Long story short he was told my story by me and actually stayed and talked through things with me. I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Walding. My daughter has been visiting him for a couple of years now and needed work done. He took excellent care of her and it was painless. I just visited Dr. Walding last month after not going to the dentist for awhile due to having a bad experience with a previous dentist, and I was petrified to attend my visit. However I knew my daughter had pleasant visits here, so that helped. Dr Walding is nonjudgmental, informative, and very thorough. My visit was painless and I even loosened up enough to watch TV during my cleaning:-). I walked out of the office having a great experience and felt silly for being such a worrier. The staff followed up with me after they saw my review. I appreciate them showing that they care about their patients. I went back today for the filling. It turned out that it was a piece of tooth near that filling that fell off, not the filling itself. Dr. Walding was great at explaining to me what he was going to do to fix it. Today was the second time I've seen Dr. Herbst for a cleaning. It's really quite unbelievable... He's booked about four weeks back, so you really have to plan ahead for just a cleaning. What is unbelievable is that you get there and you wait less than two minutes to go back and you're out the door in about 30 minutes. The girls in his office are super friendly and very gentle. Dr. Herbst's bedside manner is wonderful. He's extremely pleasant and friendly. This is one occasion I'd give more stars if I could!!! read more

My first visit was excellent. The dental hygienist was quick and painless. She took lots of x-rays for my file and I was consulted about the results by the doctor himself. I returned to have a crevice in one of my molars filled and Dr. Walding was conscientious enough to ask if I wanted to forgo anesthesia. He filled my tooth without it, I barely felt a thing, and I was out in less than 30 minutes. Also, the staff is extremely thoughtful and the office is clean and organized. I have been going to Dr. Herbst since he started work with Dr. Attra, the original owner of the place. I have been with Annette for as long as I can remember for my adult life. I was with Attra from the beginning and went to see Dr. Herbst when Dr. Attra retired. Dr. Herbst is pleasant and knowlegeable. My husband is now seeing him and Annette and he likes them very much. Kim is another long term member and she's absolutely great. She's very thorough with her job and makes you feel welcome as soon as you enter the door. I have been looking for a good dentist for a very very long time. I moved here from out of state, and was disappointed with the first dentist I had gone to. No one seemed to have met my expectations as good as my out-of-state doc. Finally, I read some reviews and decided to give Dr. Herbst a try, even if meant that I had to drive 30 minutes to get to his office. I had my second visit today, and I have to say, I am super happy about my choice! First off, the office is clean, and front desk ladies are pleasant and patient oriented! I didn't have to wait for long, as the appointment took place exactly at the scheduled time. I had the choice to listen to music or watch TV while the doc was working on my teeth. Unlike my previous dentist, Dr Herbst literally showed to me on the screen which teeth had problems and what was a recommended plan of action. Throughout the process he told me what he is going to do, so that I knew what to expect. He is super nice to his colleagues, and most of his team members have been working with him for more than 10 years! I value his ethics and I'm happy I got to meet him!! My husband will be going to him, and I am definitely recommending him to anyone I know. read more
