Expecting to come here and find your usual pub which serves cheap and cheerful food, I was surprised to find a very well presented, almost posh looking pub with a huge beer garden, medium sized pond which is home to some ducks and inside was just as good. The interior of the pub is quite charming with the wooden beams exposed and the place felt cosy and warm. It isn't huge on the inside but felt that it was laid out well and wasn't over-crowded and it's nice that the furnishings are quite modern. I had difficulty deciding what to have from the menu, although there isn't a great deal of choice on it, what was there sounded nice. I settled with calamari for starters as it's one of my favourites and chicken skewers for the main course. Calamari was okay, it wasn't the best I've had. I felt that the pieces were a bit small and there wasn't many pieces. My fella had the hot wings for starters but said that they weren't hot at all and didn't live up to the name or expectations, if anything, he said that they may have been a bit overcooked. My chicken skewers, on the other hand, were delicious! The main courses all came out big and thus, made up for the tiny portions for our starters. The chicken, courgette and peppers were cooked perfectly but I don't remember there being courgette mentioned on the menu when I ordered it, I think it was supposed to be onions instead. It doesn't really matter to me as I like both. On the side was some coleslaw and sweet chilli dip. It come with a lot of chips and pita bread. Needless to say, it was far too much and even though I was stuffed I just wanted to carry on eating because it was so nice. Two others on the table had the lamb shank and said that it tasted amazing, the other person had the fillet of steak and chips but everyone liked their mains and commented that they were presented well too. For dessert, I ordered the creme brulee which came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and red berry compote and can't grumble at all, it was decent. Two others had dessert and said that the dessert tasted good but they could have done with having a bit more of it as the portion came up quite small. The waitress was friendly and the place wasn't loud, so it was a relaxed atmosphere. Cocktails were also yummy and fairly cheap too! I got two of the strawberry daiquiri's (which I can never properly pronounce). They went down far too smoothly and easily and actually tasted more like those Munch Bunch drinky yoghurts. Overall, a good experience and would like to come here on a warm sunny day to enjoy the garden.

It was the last dinner we had during our most recent trip to London, two weeks ago! It was a great way to end the trip We placed a reservation for dinner and ate there before seeing play that night. We would have stayed longer if the play wasn't starting soon after. The place has a great ambience. We quickly noticed how Ffiona treats her guest with care and kindness upon arrival. I let Ffiona know about not having dairy in my meals and she was clear on what could be adapted to not have dairy and which items to avoid completely. We truly enjoyed everything we ate, and had to be careful not to stuff ourselves. We had the sheppards pie, fish and chips, aubergine fritters, a tasty salad with some vegan cheese and a couple of desserts. They some great drink options too! We had a mocktail. Ffiona communicated that there was optional service charge that could be removed upon request before we even presented our card for payment. We did not have it removed due to the great service we recieved. Next time we are in London, we will surely make a visit here.

You have to climb up the stairs to go to the toilet - not ideal once you've had a few cocktails. The music isn't great, there's no room to move as it gets so overcrowded and after waiting 15 minutes to be served the cocktails are mediocre. You can rent the upstairs for private functions but me and my friends recently accidentally crashed in on a 40th birthday function so if you do this, make sure the member of staff standing at the door is doing their job properly. This isn't much of a place for young people either, most people here seem to be middle-aged. Give this one a miss and go to that Firkin instead!

the poor rating has to do with the rude staff at this location. i'm not sure if he was the owner or…read morea staff member, but there was an older man who was very rude to us when we arrived. we entered the establishment, as that is what you typically do when you want to dine at a restaurant, and he came up the stairs and didn't even offer a greeting. i mentioned that we had a reservation for that time and he immediately just kept repeating that our table was outside. we went outside to their small patio dining area, and saw that there was a table with a "reserved" sign on it, so we sat down. i thought it was incredibly rude that he spoke to us in that manner, and it seemed like he expected us to somehow know that that table was ours before we had even spoken to any staff. i was seriously considering getting up and leaving but i decided to give this place one more chance. it then took a while, but we were eventually served by a much more pleasant and friendly younger server, who helped make this experience better. i would give this place a lower rating, however i must admit that the food was delicious. as an american tentatively wanting to try british bangers and mash, this exceeded my expectations. we all spoke about how the sausage was plump, snappy, and delicious, definitely one of the best we've ever had. the mashed potatoes were also amazing- cheesy and heavenly, and i'm not even usually a mashed potatoes kinda person. i am glad that we stayed solely for the delicious food, but i would not come back because of our experience with the staff here. the place already was one of the emptier spots on this very busy soho street anyway.

A lovely place to take the family for a meal out when you can't be bothered to cook…read more The menu is simply really. Steaks, Spitroast Chicken, Fish and so on. The Earlybird option is really good. You save 1/3 on most menu items if you get there before 6pm Monday-Satuday. Which makes it a great place to take the family, just make sure you arrive at around 5pm! Just incase it gets busy. The building itself is really nice, like a converted home, it has a really cosy feel to the place. More recently they have altered the menu and added some new items which may be of interest. With this menu change has come a portion size change. Last time I visited the portion sizes had got slightly smaller. The service is very good and the staff are really happy and polite.
