after they took out the dippin dots, the only thing this mall has going for it is the pet store and maybe sees candy. i feel so bad for the caged dogs. =/ although they made some major changes, it's still a crappy mall. they have leather chairs surrounding a fireplace in the middle of the mall. its trying to follow in the foot steps of south coast plaza. it fails in so many ways. -.- I would rather go to brea or main place in santa ana to shop. the only pro, is the convenience of its location. the stores inside are slim pickings, and they are usually smaller in size compared to other malls. the parking lot sucks for this place, which makes no sense because i do not see why people go here in the first place. Some of the shops are good some are blah. The edge of the parking lot shops are all pretty good. Personally my favorite places here are Oggi's Old Navy and Jamba Juice. None the less the sears has some good deals on tools and household needs amongst other things. The couple of shoe wholesalers are great... I dont mind wandering/meandering through most of this mall and the food court is ok... love the samples and the see's samples as well... The walmart is the trashiest place just about ever though... the panera bread is tasty but the pasta pomodoro is better... so yeah its not a premium mall but a number of basics and decent shops in that group... read more

Ehhh, this is one of the smaller malls in the OC. It looks pretty nice from the outside, but on the inside, it's pretty rundown. I usually come here to buy some work shoes/boots just because all the Famous Footwears around me are closed down. Other than that, I would probably not come all the way to this location to shop. Hey I have lived in Orange since 1986 when I used to come here as a kid I used to think this mall was the greatest. Now I think they should just level the damn place and rebuild something way better than what is there. Hell you can leave the Sears and the Pennys, but this things biggest store is a Ross......yeah a Ross. If your a tourist visiting do yourself a favor don't waste your time. This is ONLY based on the Santa photos: Santa is an effing Scrooge. I went to The Village in Orange on 12/14/2011 at around 11:00 a.m. hoping that I could take pictures with my honey and dog. Now, I have taken Santa photos every year at The Village in Orange for 3 years but I will never, EVER, EVER go there again. The young woman who takes the pictures was extremely nice and said that even though the pet photos were on Thursdays, she would allow us to take pictures with Santa since they have had nobody all day. When she went to talk to Santa, he flatout said no. He said that he couldn't even have the dog close to him. I understand allergies and whatnot but we have been going there for 3 years and never had a problem. We would not get any dog hair on him as we would be holding our dog. Still no-what a jerk! Actually, the manager has given us huge bags of food and treats in the past-sooo nice. My issue is with Santa. He is an animal hating old grump. Puppy kicker and squasher of dreams. This Santa had no guts to tell us to our face and he went through the kind young woman to fight his battles. I hope he feels good for ruining a Christmas present and a holiday tradition. He's a holiday ruining, animal hater and a poor excuse for a Santa. read more

Oh, this poor, lonely mall. I often like to compare this mall to the Buena Park mall. They are equally sad. For me, the saving grace of this mall is Old Navy. I know a lot of people don't like ON, but they have cheap casual and work clothes, and for a girl on a budget that is perfect. I've been a customer of "The Orange Mall" for decades. Now named, The Village, it includes several large department stores and restaurants, and smaller shops inside, with a food court area. The mall has come such a long way. The inside is decorated very nice. It appears new flooring has been incorporated throughout. The mall gives a small, comfortable feel, rather than an extensive, overwhelming one. The outside is still under mass renovation, which is why I chose 4 stars for now. Once the exterior gets a facelift, this place will be a nice go-to, when the crowds fear heading to Brea. The parking is better here, and there's less side street traffic. read more

I'm not sure that I would consider The Village a mall, but I think that it's trying to be a mall. I had higher hopes for this place, but when I actually did a full walk through, I was a bit disappointed by the stores that are inside. However, it is a pretty small mall, so it can only have so much. Even though there isn't much inside The Village, I do come here occasionally if I'm in the area to quickly visit one or two stores. Even though it's not the most exciting mall, The Village is one of those places where you can go to escape from a hot day. You can walk around with a friend, chat, window shop, and enjoy the cool air of the mall. Especially in the summertime, it is great to have places like this in the community. read more

Not my favorite mall. Parking kind of blows, especially during the lunch hours. *I think any mall that is anchored by a Wal-Mart automatically makes it more ghetto. Eventhough I do shop there. *The Hot Topic here is small. *I was afraid to walk into the As Seen On TV store because the store owner was standing behind the register staring out into the mall. He looked angry and was scary looking. *I used to eat at the Todai here. I haven't been there in about two and half years. *I always put a penny in the gravity vortex thing. It's mesmerizing. *I went in the pet store once and the hamsters were in full battle mode. There was blood and bodies everywhere and the girl employee was freaking out over it. *Ross Dress for Less is pretty crappy here. The village used to be a LOT worse years ago. Within the last 4 years (my time away from home) it has SIGNIFICANTLY gotten better! I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad. Good because a lot more normalized options for stores, good food, MUCH cleaner, upkeep is great, etc. etc. Bad because it is SLOWLY increasing in crowds and might attract a lot of attention. For now it is a great place to go! Crowds are definitely kept to a minimum, but the parking is still bad and difficult. They did open some new good food places that I am excited for such as BWW and Habit. I went during the weekday in the afternoon and it is as empty as ever. It would be nice if it was as lively as the parking lot is full, but I am kind of glad because it is a great place to go in and out and grab what you need. Props to that Walmart that is there too :p. Wow, I found a mall with fewer quality stores than the Puente Hills mall in my neighborhood. The mall is 1 story so it's just 1 long stretch of shops on both sides with couple deptartment stores (Sears and JC Penny, lol) and a Walmart (that says it all!) anchoring it. 3 stars for having a Todai that's much better than the Puente Hills one as well as being very clean and quiet. Yea, this mall is pretty much dead, which makes it a great mall to just chill at. read more

The parking here is a b*****!!! I completely dread coming to this place. I've been here for the Panera and Trader Joe's and if this shopping center didn't have either, I would not come here. The last time I came to Panera it took me 30 minutes to find parking. I wanted to pull my hair out! Although I haven't done much exploring, the center looks decent and well kept. It is a decent place to be at. I like that they have a Walmart a Ross and a couple fashion stores. The rent must be expensive because I see a lot of stores that open for a while and then close. They used to have a lot of variety of restaurants to choose from inside. But now the better places are outside such as, Panda Express, Olive Garden, Rubio's, and a couple more restaurants. I knew it well as The Orange Mall with a movie theater in the back (the last movie I saw there was Urban Cowboy). I move out of town for a few years (maybe 18 years or so) and come back. I head to The Orange Mall and am appalled at how horrible it is. Dirty and sad and old. sigh. I cannot bear it. (It even has a Wal Mart ... I begin to cry). Then it begins to morph into The Village at Orange. They chop off Wal Mart (it's still there but now you cannot enter directly from the Mall) and they add some cool restaurants (Chipotle, Panera Bread, Jamba Juice, and Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Co.) and they add some cool stores (Linens-N-Things, Cost Plus World Market, and Old Navy). They spruce it up a bit and make it all nice and shiny. Okay, there is still Wal Mart, Ross, and Todai (terrible place) but it is better. And it is close with LOTS and LOTS of parking. I always park in the back because everyone else likes to park in the front. I met my daughter there and we spent a nice time wandering through the little mall and shopping. We sat in front of the fire place in the center of the mall eating our Dippin Dots and just having a good old time. We actually found quite a bit to buy because the mall may be small but it is diverse. We can also get a manicure while we are there and that is always a plus. The mall is not over crowded but has lots of stores to chose from. This is not South Coast Plaza ... if it was I wouldn't shop there. read more

The Village of Orange is much like the Buena Park mall, with Wal-Mart most likely being it's highest money maker. How both of these retail venues still seem to exist is both a mystery and joy to me. Throw in a Pac Sun, Sears, Old Navy, Ross, Kay Jewelers, Claire's, Wet Seal, Payless, JC Penney, Todai, Sprouts, Mrs. Fields, Auntie Anne's, Dairy Queen, Bath & Body Works, Gamestop, Tokyo Lifestyle, Cost Plus, Hallmark, Subway, Verizon, Red Robin, Wal-Mart and smaller brand shops--shake it up--and this is the Village of Orange. Now I'm not saying I am not a fan because I am and I can rummage through Ross, Old Navy, Pac Sun, Tokyo Lifestyle and Sprouts like nobody's business; but as other reviewers have already mentioned, they need to add a few more stores to liven up the place. H&M would be Tilly's, other sneaker stores and a movie theater would be nice. Just don't think larger retailers are bold enough these days, to invest in such a lifeless mall, to be apart of a so-so store directory. Now as far as the outskirts of the mall, you can grab Chipotle, CB&TL, go to CVS, Trader Joe's, Olive Garden, Panda Express, Radio Shack, Panera Bread, Tuesday Morning or Party City. I have experienced better ... way better! The other day a friend called and during the conversation, mentions that he needed to go to a Sears. I look online and told him where Sears are around the area. Since he was driving, we decide to go to the Sears at The Village at Orange. I have been to this mall a few times sporadically over the years. If I was in the area, I would only go to this mall for either Old Navy, Red Robin or Oggi's. The last time my friend was here was when the mall was roofless. Once we were done looking through Sears, we decide to look at the rest of the mall. When we went, it was around 8:30 pm on a week night, 6 days before Christmas, and the mall was bare of patrons. The whole time we are walking, my friend comments how poor this mall is. And he was right. It did seem to be in a sad state. I mean, there was nothing really there that peaked our interest. With stores like JCPenny, Sears, and Old Navy, one would think this would be a nice mall to shop at. But other than those stores, not much else to shop at. Oh! They do have a Ross and a Wal*Mart. I kept telling him that we should have gone to another mall. But the reason we didn't was because with the time contraint he had, he didn't want to back track to much, which I could understand. read more

This place used to be SOOO DEAD! This is definitely one of the malls that have gone in the opposite direction with the economic situation. It used to have a Sears on one end, a Todai in the middle, and a Walmart on the other, and those 3 would literally hold the building together.. because everything in between was dead, boarded up, or just plain empty! Now with new funding and a complete remodel, it's a fantastic change of scenery. The stores that have opened up are bustling with customers and new merchandise. It's quite a sight now.. that is if you know what it used to be. However, it's not AMAZING, considering it's just a small little mall for the locals. This mall back in the day was bad as in they had very little stores but through the years they've tried to add more. The mall is still not up to par with the Brea Mall or Main place but if you're in a pinch I'm sure you can find what you're looking for. It has major department stores such as Sears, Jc Penney, Old Navy, also a See's Candies and a Bath and Body Works as well as the random smaller mall stores. I like that they also have stores on the outside such as Active or Verizon to shop at. I live closer to this mall now so I'm sure I'll frequent it more but I'd rather just make the drive to Brea or Main place and know I'll be able to get what I need all in one area. read more

We live close by and tried to check every now and then if there is something new. We go to the fast food area which is very close at the entrance of the mall. The food court is empty but with a few people hanging out. It is being renovated now but still as empty inside. Bath & Body works i believe is now closed. Tried to check in some goodies but ended up disappointed as it is not there anymore. Most of the establishments there are either jewelry shops or some boutiques that we are not familiar with. Kids section is also not as enthusiastic as it was. It is boring for the children. Though the surrounding areas are better off to hang out at. Check Walmart, Oggi's, Panera Bread, Chipotlé and others to be entertained. read more

I hate the BLOOMY store at the village, today I was shopping for work clothes there and they made me feel like a criminal! They were looking at my every move, I felt so uncomfortable that the owner (I think) and the worker were staring at me the whole time. I truly feel sad when I step into this "so-called mall". I live a mile away and frequent this mall regularly for my usual quick stops like Bath & Body Works, my nail salon, See's Candy, Cost Plus and previously, Old Navy. Old Navy recently closed down - but what I AM excited for is the HomeGoods store that is supposed be taking its place. Now the Hallmark store is closing down too but I did score some excellent items at 50% off during its closing sale. Every time I step into this mall, I find another store vacant. There must be at least 10 vacant spaces in there at any given time. Only giving it 3 stars due to the lack of quality retailers but it's convenient for my needs. Food court has limited options but I usually just do Auntie Anne's or the Filipino takeout place. I think I will be devastated if Bath & Body Works ever leaves this mall so please don't take that away ever! read more

What is happening with this mall? Stores are in and out of business.. they seemed to do renovations only to have the food court brought down to only 1 option for months. SCAM ALERT - If you choose to shop at The Village, be aware that the east parking lot is crawling with panhandlers and con artists. This is especially true after dark in front of Walmart. An example of this is the crazy lady with the floppy hat (it looks like a flying saucer on her head). She drives around in a Walmart electric shopping cart, looking for handouts. Tonight (1/7/15) her story was that she is "just in from New York, lost her purse and needs a hotel." However, I photographed her on 7/7/14 telling a completely different story. Plain and simple,The Village of Orange is awesome!A great sele of retailers and great customer service.The clientele at this mall is decent folks and I have never had any issues.I greatly enjoy coming here and always find what I am looking for.The parking lot is spacious and the mall is relatively safe.No bums,creepers or weirdos!My only complaint is that the mall closes at 9pm daily and The Old Navy just recently closed down.That store was soooo cool.The Village of Orange is super easily accessible via the 55 and 91 freeways.Definitely worth a visit. read more

Immediately we were welcomed with smiling faces and amazing customer service from the staff who had on festive fun outfits. They let us know it was buy 3 get 3 free and we just couldn't say no when we saw there awesome outfits and festive gear! They were very engaging and so nice! Mario was exceptionally helpful and made it very fun for my sister and I. Even being in our late 20's and older than most consumers we were blown away by his friendliness and he really made our shopping experience positive and one to remember! We really had no intention of going in and buying all the items we did but we loved it! He was so full of energy and life!
