The Vineyard at Escondido is honestly very beautiful and a well kept secret. The course is in great shape and challenging. The front nine layout and the back nine layout are completely different which was super unexpected in the best possible way. I don't know what people are complaining about, this course is well kept and the greens are some of the best I've seen. The bar was also really nice and decorated for the World Cup. The customer service was great and I'll definitely be coming back. One of my top 4 courses in San Diego. read more

I've never felt so disrespected as a paying customer. I purchased a bucket of range balls and was never told the driving range closed at 4:30 p.m. There were no clear signs, and no one mentioned it before taking my money. If I had been told, I never would have bought a bucket in the first place. What happened next was honestly unbelievable. While I was in the middle of hitting, the employee working the range walked up, said, "The range closes at 4:30," and started taking my remaining balls away. Not after I finished my shot. Not after giving me a chance to wrap up. While I was actively hitting. I've never experienced anything like that at any golf course. When I went inside and asked for a refund or even a credit for the balls I wasn't allowed to use, I was simply told no. This isn't about a bucket of range balls. It's about basic honesty, respect, and customer service. Don't take someone's money if you're not going to let them use what they paid for. A simple heads up before the purchase would have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I left feeling like my business didn't matter the moment my payment went through. Losing a customer over a single bucket of balls is completely avoidable, yet that's exactly what happened. There are too many golf courses that treat customers with courtesy for me to spend another dollar here. I hope management takes this seriously, because this experience reflected a complete lack of respect for paying customers. At the very least, I should have been offered a refund or a credit for something I was never given the opportunity to finish using. read more

Pretty good golf. Had a 930 tee time so by the back 9 it was clear and sunny. Course was ok in the morning since, but it was still wet on the course so the greens were just rough to play in. Overall not a bad course. A couple par 3s to break it up, so have fun out there read more

Where do I start?.... Let me address the haters first.... Whether it's the range, the maintenance, the people... you all should just be happy you can come out here and golf. Unless you're part of the actual club here, what are you expecting? Just because it's golf doesn't mean it's going to be fancy or luxurious. Which by the way at this place is actually really nice!!! Just goes to show that you guys don't go south past the 94 or maybe even the 52. As for the price, do some research. Every golf course has peaks, lows and twilights and most give discounts, that how I come here. Military friendly courses are always a plus man! So many fancy bougey ass courses refuse military discounts and that's okay, that's their business motto. If you're looking for exclusivity, join a club, then come and complain, but I bet you won't because they'll figure out who it was. Now the field: The range is great!!! Trackman on most bays??!! What???!!! This is a game changer for anyone who uses them. Or come to play the trackman games with friends, just make sure you keep it down a bit. The practice areas are immaculate! Big enough for various players of all levels skills. The course, Pffft! This place is GREAT!!! If you're complaining about certain areas, it's because you hit your all there and couldn't get it out and mainly because you just suck. I suck, so I can say that. You're not a Pro Bro! Just pick it up like the rest of people and keep it moving. I've seen many reviews here who talk about the pace of play. Okay so the pace of play is really up to the people playing. If you want to complain, complain to them. All these people hitting 4X mulligans and breakfast balls and looking for their Pro V1's are the real criminals here. So basically, it's all of you!!! The Vineyard has gone downhill quite a bit. The greens are slower, the traps have no sand & haven't for years, I offered to install it myself year's ago but apparently no sand needed in the traps up to now. Overwatering & poor irrigation maintenance has created bogs on several holes. So to make up for this poor maintenance they have almost doubled green fees. Demand is high for the range - but they seem to be unconcerned with their golf operation. It's sad to see how fast it's going to the dogs. read more

I seldom rate a public golf course this high, but I think The Vineyard deserves it. Surrounded by grape vineyards, a wildlife preserve, and wetlands, The Vineyard has an idyllic setting for an 18-hole golf course. This Par 70 course has well-maintained fairways, many of which are rather close to each other. There's a practice area with a driving range, target greens, and a putting green, as well as a clubhouse with Golf Shop, full service 19th Hole, and function rooms. Quite a pleasure to visit and play. Easy access from San Pasqual Road, but take care exiting. read more

The driving range is one of the better ones in San Diego Country. Has a good number of mats, some are covered and it is lighted. The greens were in pretty good shape but slow and very bumpy most likely from heavy play. The day I golfed there it was in the mid 90's. The sign in the pro shop said no cart girl today, again. The course lacks cold water stations throughout the course. There is only one on the front 9 and one on the back 9. Note you must have your own bottle or cup as the course does not supply them, nor do they check to see if there is water in them. One had water in it, front 9 the one on the back 9 did not. No water in the ball washers either. There has been a lot done to improve the course and the clubhouse over the last few years. The staff is nice. read more

They are working hard to get this course into the shape it needs to be in to be considered a 'must try' spot in SD county - amongst a lot of other places. The greens are almost always in great shape and at a decent speed - not too slow, not crazy fast. The bar was totally remodeled in the past year and the food is always decent. First time playing The Vineyards, upon driving up to the course the entrance was landscaped nicely with a small road leading up the clubhouse. After parking in the lot which was a short walk to the pro shop I arrived to practice early. Range is off a mat and fairly wide open as well. Started my round on time, appreciate the starter keeping things organized from the start. However, as a single golfer, I roll the dice on who my playing partners will be. On this day, I got a Mom (who drove the cart) and her 12 year old son (not that there is anything wrong with that). I played from the White tees and so did the Son and the other two-some. After the 3 adults teed off all down the middle, the youngster either jitters or not ready to play 18 hooked the drive left and Mom in her native language yelled at her son, which he then yelled back and that's when I knew it was a long day. After a 6 hour round, of mom & son yelling at each other, it tainted the scenery, course conditions, and momentum of play which ruined my day, even though I tried to play my own game. I hope to make it back out with a different experience. read more

my friend and i started the day on the green working on chipping. We were shortly approached by a tempered short man, who i believe to be the golf pro of this establishment. He yelled at us saying chipping was not allowed on the green, despite there being no sign. Fine We finish our round and found a stray ball at the range. I hit the ball into the fully lit up range. Shortly after the same man ridiculed me, asking if i was gonna go pick up the ball i just hit. saying it was a hazard. i was a little suprised but went to get my ball anyway. upon finding a seemingly infinite amount of balls in the range. This course is solid for the price, but the pro here showed me he is truly unprofessional and does not treat customers with respect. the vineyard i am asking you to please make this right as i am truly disappointed in my experience. read more

This was, hands down, the worst golfing experience I've ever had. We showed up an hour early to check in and get a proper warm-up in. Not once were we told the course was severely backed up or that tee times were running behind. We teed off nearly 40 minutes late and by the time we reached the 3rd hole two hours had already passed. No explanation, no apology--just chaos on the tee box. To make matters worse, we were nearly struck by an out-of-control drive from someone behind us. No "fore," no courtesy, just pure recklessness. And the kicker? The guy actually blamed us for the slow play--clearly no accountability and zero class. When we made the turn, we asked the pro shop staff if they'd consider a rain check or voucher--seeing as their men's club had clearly clogged up the course and ruined any hope of pace. We were met with eye-rolls and indifference. Not even an ounce of ownership. Let's talk about the course itself: * The greens were in awful condition, with holes that looked like they were cut with a butter knife. * No cart girl on the front 9, zero water stations, and not a single staff member checked in with us during the round. * The food at the turn was as bland as it gets--microwaved, flavorless, and overpriced. * And every single person we interacted with at the clubhouse acted like they were doing us a favor just by being there. Unbelievable. This place is a masterclass in how not to run a golf course. Can't beat the price. Seems like an easy enough course but good luck not losing a ball or two out of bounds. No GPS in cart, but if you don't have one on your phone by now just download one for free. Greens can be a little bumpy but for half the cost of other courses it works. This course serves its purpose for your better than average golfer that makes an average salary. A beautiful course but needs a little work. A few holes need attention. Possibly missed due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, there are a few spots that have bad looking spots. Areas where weeds have been pulled but not removed, areas where weeds need to be pulled or trimmed. The clubhouse is doing a good job enforcing safety measures under the current social distancing. There are x marks throughout the place. Overall, the Vineyards is a bargain. The place is clean and I didn't see any overfilled trash reciprocals. Had a good time with my friends and will probably be back again. If you're looking for a good place with exceptional views, this is worth considering. I'm sure once able, they'll spruce up the course. Remember to maintain proper etiquette while playing! I can't stress this enough. Some people need to learn. read more
