This place is really cute! It's a historic winery tucked away in the back of a neighborhood in Escondido. Would have never even known it was there if someone didn't recommended it to us. The ambiance is really chill. Nice outdoor space with lots of quiet spots to enjoy your wine. I like their whites and roses. The rose on tap is actually really great with slight effervescence. Great for a nice summer day! What a wonderful local gem!

This is a beautiful winery in Escondido. It's easy to get to off the 15 freeway and tucked in a quiet residential area. Service was great. There was love music when we were there on a Sunday afternoon. We walked around exploring the winery grounds while enjoying their wines. We opted for the wine tasting and I appreciate the nice size pours. Some wineries do miniscule pours. Not here! No outside food allowed but they do have some pre-packaged meat and cheese options for purchase. Nice plates and utensils are provided. No paper plates and plastic utensils here.

    Great outdoor space

Love this winery! It's quaint and has some great varietal wines using local grapes, such as the Viognier I had, which the winemaker said was from grapes grown in valley center, which is nearby to San Diego and I love the space!

My daughter had her wedding here. I can't even express how amazing and perfect it turned out. Not one thing went wrong. It was beautiful. I keep getting texts from people telling me it was the best wedding with the best food that they've ever been to. My husband just told me that he doesn't even need to look at any photos because the memories are enough.

This lovely winery is a hidden gem, tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood in Escondido, they have several excellent wines to choose from. The service was good and they were very attentive, I really enjoyed the 5150 Cabernet and the dessert port. We also paired our wine with a nice Mediterranean charcuterie board that was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Hidden in Escondido, a great little winery. Good selection of wine, live music on Saturdays. Good vibes. The owners are so friendly and it was nice talking to them. It could benefit from having some food: bread and small charcuteries - it would make wine tasting better and definitely help.

Hey, Incase no one noticed but we are in a Pandemic. Yet, we need to get out for small social interaction, life enrichment and fresh air. This particular Saturday was World Mental Health Day, and yes, this applies to all of us. Forgotten Barrel came to mind as a local urban winery. They were only open for pick up for six hours out of the week and just opened up at reduced capacity on their quaint yet broad property. One can make a reservation for a table for $40 and the monies are applied to any bottle, glass or food purchases from the tasting room. When I worked in in wine education, sales and events for a local vineyard and winery we would taste at places at no cost. We came here when Ferrar Winery was in this residential neighborhood, it was strange and funny being in a residential neighborhood. But with a completely revamped plan, the Forgotten Barrel is a perfect wedding site, with lawn for ceremony, barn for reception. There is also ample outdoor space for workshops and events of all sorts in a covered space. And plenty of spaces on weekends to lounge for all. There are Adirondack chairs, tables that hold your wine glasses in slots spread around the property and perfect for 6 ft distancing. I first enjoyed their Pinot Noir at the New Village Arts Center in Carlsbad at a play. They source their grapes from the best places in the state. The soil where certain varietals grow matter. We came to celebrate World Mental Health Day and had to go with the area 5150 to celebrate life. We had to order a charcuterie, as this power combo is so fulfilling. Then a bottle to take home when the mood moves us. The service here is solid, the wine is some of our favorite for a San Diego winery and the grounds offer opportunity to explore some history. Did I mention, it is also dog friendly. Our wine server brought our fur babe water. There were about seven other parties enjoying the day. We are so happy that Forgotten Barrel is almost in our back yard and plan to spend more time with them, Pandemic or Not! Thanks for a perfect day out, I encourage adding small workshops on weekdays here too. There is so much potential. #Escondido #UrbanWinery #ForgottenBarrel #EventCenter #Area5150RedWine

It can take 10-15 minutes to get a refill, especially during trivia, which sometimes means missing the next question. It would be awesome if there were a separate line for guests who just want to order a glass of wine instead of doing a tasting. Overall, Orfila is a beautiful winery with a fun, welcoming atmosphere, great wine, and events that keep us coming back week after week. Highly recommend!

We easily found parking in their complimentary lot. Ambiance (4.5/5): This is one of the things that make wineries great... the scenic views. While they have a tasting room inside, your best option is to sit outside on the small yet charming patio. The best part is that you'll enjoy the mountains in the background as you sip on your vino. Service (4.5/5): We ordered a bottle of wine about 10 minutes before close. One of the owners was nice enough to allow us to stay outside on the patio way past closing time. He said we could stay as long as we wanted. That's the type of service you rarely see at drinking holes these days. Food (N/A): They had various snacks to purchase and you can also add chocolates with wine flights but we were on a liquid diet. Drinks (4/5): If you're interested in doing a wine tasting, they have both a red and white option. The prices are affordable (especially by California standards) for both flights and if you'd like to purchase bottles of wine for enjoying there or to take home. I did the red flight. They serve it to you on a cutting board of sorts with a piece of paper giving you a short description of each wine. From there, we had a bottle of sauvignon blanc. I didn't take any wine home, but you can get a discount if you buy in bulk. One last thing that made Belle Marie an awesome winery is that it was one of the few open on a Tuesday in the area. A lot of them are open on the weekends only or Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Sunday. Belle Marie delivered on the only day we could stop by. For that, I'm grateful!

Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.

Before lunch, the owner, Frank, welcomed our group into the wine cellar for an impromptu tasting and shared the story of how the winery came to be. Perched high above the valley, the property offers sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and distant mountains that seem to stretch on forever. The vine-covered terrace provides just enough shade to linger over a glass of wine while taking in the scenery. On a clear day, it feels like you've stumbled onto a little slice of Tuscany hidden in San Diego County. The food was equally enjoyable. We shared a variety of thin-crust pizzas, burrata salad, and charcuterie boards, all of which disappeared quickly. And then came the cannoli, the perfect sweet ending to an already wonderful meal.
