I figured a photographer would be sufficient and I couldn't really wrap my mind around the added expense especially given how uncomfortable I anticipated being the center of attention. I loathed the idea of being filmed, assuming each shot would be of me looking strained and awkward every time I saw the camera. Also, most wedding videos look so forced and "wedding-y" that they just seem insincere. Suffice it to say, I have never been happier to be wrong in my life. Aside from being a gifted videographer, Evan Olman is an extraordinary individual. He has the best temperament, no bull-shit, and he just exudes positivity. By being so chill and awesome himself, Evan reminded everyone to just enjoy the weekend in all its glory! He was forthcoming from the very beginning in getting an idea of what we wanted and how we operated so that he could do his best to make us comfortable. He also ran all over the place to multiple locations with his equipment in tow, smiling all the while with joyful reassurances. Without a doubt, Evan was our favorite guest! And then on new year's day, the highlight video arrived. I'm still reeling from how incredible it turned out. Evan captured the most incredible moments that still take my breath away. I can't get over how much time he must have spent editing the video. He created a piece that truly reflects us and our "formality be damned, devil may care" attitude so that, in my sisters words, there's nothing douchey or trite about it. Per our loved ones, watching it makes you feel just as spectacular as we did in the moment. It is a treasure. This video is the greatest gift. I'll never be able to thank Evan for all of his hard work and creativity! Honestly he could charge double/triple and it would still be well worth it all. So don't be stupid. Hire Evan! Vinney was recommended by a mutual friend for my wedding. This is more about his videography skills…read morethan the photography. About a month before our wedding date the videographer we had booked almost a year in advance decided that he was going to cancel on us for personal reasons. I asked our photographer if he had any recommendations and asked my friend in the music industry if he had any friends that we would even consider flying in. Our friend told us Vinney has some background in Videography. On his site he had more engagements than weddings I think but I liked what I saw and with about a month away I was willing to take anyone whose content looked good. The introduction was over a phone call. He asked a few questions, we asked a few questions--also knowing we were willing to fly him from SoCal and pay for his room. He sent us the proposal and contract. Vinney's communication is superb! It was very nice and he was easy to work with. He already had a pretty easy electronic payment process. Oh and the video product itself... AH-MAZING! He recommended pouring glasses of wine and sitting and watching it together, just me and my husband. Early on in the planning I asked if he could incorporate my friend's saxophone playing into the video. I had no idea when he would get it to start playing and just let him do his magic. He started the video with (I think) pretty generic music that goes with the frames. Vinney's magic came when he used the Matron of Honor's speech where she started to talk about how kind and caring my husband is and THAT was when you could hear my friend playing You'll Be in My Heart. I lost it at that moment. Like it was so epically good that the waterworks started! We've showed our family and a few friends and they rave about how well done it is. Vinney is VERY talented with his videography. His style is fun, smooth and matched our personalities. I would recommend his videography any day.
