They should have that info on file. They're either using new people for billing, or just don't know what their doing. Be careful. We have always been told NOT to give away medical numbers on the phone, but they asked, which we thought unusual. Will take the info over in person, let them make the copies, and sign for the info today. *************************** UPDATE: The Dr called and he knew exactly how to bill, and knew we were correct in questioning the billing issue, so "all's well that ends well"! We hope that he supports his front end staff in some additional training, because they are the people that can cause a problem in keeping their customers happy.

I was scheduled with Dr. Paragas but was told she was off for a doctor's appointment so I was seen by the senior partner. Nice guy; did my exam and gave me an Rx for new lenses. I had Costco make the glasses and when I put them on my vision was significantly worse than w/o glasses. I told the Costco eye glass staff and they said I should have the RX verified and possibly get my vision exam redone. I called Auburn Eye Care and was scheduled in to see the senior partner again. I told the receptionist my issue and requested they redo my vision examination. The senior doctor met with me and I explained the situation. He told me my cataracts were the problem. Just 1 month prior he told me I had a small cataract but nothing to worry about at this time; maybe in a few years removal would be necessary. He did not redo my vision exam. Disappointed, I returned to Costco and scheduled an eye examination with one of their doctors. I took in my recent Rx and they did my exam and told me the Rx I needed was significantly different than what had been prescribed by Auburn Eye Care. They remade my glasses and as soon as I put them on I could see much better. I returned to Auburn Eye Care and explained what I had been through and the outcome. I requested they refund the cost of my eye examination as somehow the Rx ended up being incorrect. I received a call from Auburn Eye Care office staff advising me they would refund me $50. I asked them to just place it on my account as a credit for my next appointment in October. I was then told the doctor decided I would no longer be a patient and they cancelled my upcoming appointment. I asked why they did that and was told the doctor decided they no longer wanted me as a patient. So, the end result is apparently, somehow, my vision exam resulted in an incorrect Rx for glasses. They refused to recheck my eyes and blamed it on cataracts which just one month prior were not considered problematic. When I had my eyes examined and a correct Rx proved their Rx was incorrect, they "cancelled" me as a patient. I have never been treated so poorly. I did noting wrong and was more than professional and polite in all dealings with Auburn Eye Care. Poor, poor patient care and a complete failure to accept responsibility for their mistake. Instead of acknowledging their mistake in quoting the cost, they simply expected me to cover the difference in full. Now I have to try to find that money to make up the difference. Otherwise, what all the money I've spent so far is a waste? I understand that errors happen, but a business should take responsibility when they misquote a price rather than passing the cost onto the customer. This was frustrating and left me feeling like they value payment over patient care. I won't be returning.

My experience is he does not give a discontinued penny about his patients. Honestly-yuk! I will not be going back for my refraction appointment. The thought of being in his presence gives me the creeps. I only give his office one star because I feel sorry for his staff.

So, after waiting until the last day, I decided I'd better get my eyes examined since my present glasses weren't doing it for me any more. On checking Google for a local optometrist, I found "America's Best". How could I do better than the best place in America? I like the best of anything whenever I can find it. So, I gave them a call. It was already 5:30 on Wednesday afternoon. They answered on the first ring, and I was already happy to hear this young lady's pleasant voice. I asked her if they do the exam and make the glasses. She told me that they did, and she had an opening on Friday morning, but it was too late for me to come in right now. I told her Friday morning would be fine. I didn't really expect to get in anywhere on such short notice. My appointment was set for 10:am the day after tomorrow. Great, I said. I'll be there. 9:30 Friday morning, I was greeted right away when I entered their large reception area. I'm impressed. The place was spotless and pleasantly decorated. Three pretty ladies doing their optometrist stuff while I filled out the normal questionnaire that new patients are required to fill out. Not even a minute later, another pretty lady escorted me to an exam room where I told her one thing looked better than another and another thing looked betterthan another. Then Dr. Toy came to lead me to her examining room, where I told her one thing looked better than another thing, and another thing looked better than the last thing. That was about twenty to thirty minutes of Dr. Toy's extensive exam. There was more to it, but with her pleasant and engaging conversation, I wasn't even noticing the time. I was happy to hear that I didn't have any real eye problems, and she wrote out a prescription for new specs and led me to Katielyn's desk, a nice lady who actually helped me select glasses from a wall with hundreds of choices to pick from..She told me that I could choose two pairs for $89.00 or one pair for $39.00. I thought, "Okay, what's the catch here?". Well, there was no catch. They were giving me two pairs of glasses of my choice, and the exam was included at that price. Wow! I paid over $400.00 for the glasses I got from the guys up the street two years ago. Dr Toy is very pleasant to work with. She is engaging and speaks regular English like I do. The rest of the crew, including Katielyn, who placed my order, and the receptionist, whose name I forgot, were very accommodating. It's so nice to have America's Best right here in Auburn. All I needed was an EKG she failed to send the paperwork over for the EKG, so the day before the surgery everything had to be canceled. Then had the nerve to tell me I could wait another two or three months as they were all booked up. I will be going elsewhere.!
