The staff rushed through my exam, the lady that explained my options for lenses was very rude. She also didn't explain all my options to me . The prescription doesn't seem to really be helping that much. Making my vision a little worse. They told me I was all paid up and then I randomly get a bill in the mail from them. I called them and they say "oh well we forgot to tell you you owe us more money" I also talked to the manager about the issues I'm having she just basically blamed my age for the fact that the exam wasn't done correctly and instead of taking accountability and saying oh hey maybe we should re-examine your eyes,she said oh no it's just cause you're old!!! I was in town visiting friends and family when I developed a swollen eyelid. Since I'm not from the area I wasn't really sure where to go, but a friend recommended Auburn Eye Care Associates and I was really pleased with my experience. The front office staff was very welcoming and even though I made the appointment last minute they were able to squeeze me in. I saw Dr. Paragas and she did an excellent job of assessing my issue, answering my questions and making me feel at ease. She prescribed me antibiotic eye drops which helped the swelling to go down and cleared up the issue in a few days. It's always tough when you have a medical issue while you're traveling and have to find a doctor who can treat you, but Dr. Paragas made the whole process easy and I'm so glad I was able to get in to see her. read more

Recently moved to the area and was looking for a new optometrist. I was referred by a co-worker to see Dr. Paragas and she was just who I was looking for. Thorough, attentive, pleasant and very informative. I have really high astigmatism and have been considering getting lasix, but have been so nervous to get it done. I had been a patient of Dr Norcotts for 30 years. When he left due to unknown issues, I saw a replacement optometrist. I gave the person 2 chances to give me an appropriate correction to which they failed. My opthamologist told me to tell the "doctor " what the issue was, and the person did not follow that suggestion. Also, every year with Dr Norcott, I had a computer test for peripheral vision. This year they tried to skip it. I asked why we weren't doing it, and they replied "oh, do you want that?". Of course I do!!!Unfortunately, now I will have to pay out of pocket for a correct exam and replacement lenses as I wasted my vision benefits on this practice. read more

Dr Hines needs to find a practice that finds his bedside manner acceptable and it saddens me that this practice tolerates it. He is rude, dismissive and obviously doesn't like women as he downplayed the questions my mother and I had regarding her surgery. As soon as we told him we weren't interested in the upgrade that would be $3k out of pocket for both eyes he hurried up to finish the visit. Our entire family had been patients for many years. The staff was friendly. However, things took a turn for the worst. Our eldest son is a glasses kid and often needs his screws tightened. The pair he had was fairly new and NOT scratched the least bit. We took him into the office for a quick adjustment, per the norm. While waiting, we could see the side profile of the lady wrenching on the frames with no cloth, towel or protection around the lenses. It was concerning, but we gave them the benefit that they were the professionals and knew what they were doing. After getting home, our son informs us that there is a large scratch on one of the lenses in the inside. The scratch was so deep you could feel the groove with you finger. This was no normal Scratch, but a groove that could have only been done with a metal tool. We immediately called the office and explained the situation. They said to bring the frames back in to assess. We told the staff that this happened while in the office, we were told that there was "no way" they would have or could have done that damage and that what they could do is order us new lenses, at our expense. We left and took our business elsewhere. Not good customer service, it is a shame. read more

I had a prescription for glasses filled that did not work at all. It was blurry before and it is only worst with the new prescription. I went to Costco for the glasses, since they are so much cheaper. I returned for the second eye exam, only to walk out of there with a new and different prescription. To my surprise, they would not cover their mistake and I am forced to pay for glasses again. If they made the wrong prescription with my glasses, they ought to man up, admit it and then cover the new glasses. I asked for the office manager, a very rude woman, that basically chased me out of their facility. Myself and mt wife, have both cancelled all future appointments. Dr Norcott, is a cocky and arrogant dotor, that would not even great me as he came in the office. There are too many eye centers to go, to put up with this arrogance. Never again. I went to Auburn Eye Care for a cosult. It was determined that I have cataracts. It was decided to do one at a time. I opted for a lens at the same time, $3500 per eye, my cost. After the procedure it was determined that it didn't go as planned and a fix was needed. The fix was to take place at Invision in Roseville. Of the many forms to fill out i did not sign............. 1. The payment policy, ( i was told it was covered). 2. Arbitration Agreement. ( this was never indicated in the lens option sales form). With that I was told if I don't sign they won't do the rework. So here I am, bad left eye and cataracts in the right eye, and out $3500. My advise, Stay away from Invision, Stay away from Dr. Hines. Was looking for a new eye doctor when we relocated to Grass Valley. I was referred here by my primary doctor for an eye problem. I absolutely love Dr. Belajic! Not only was I scheduled right away, the staff was very professional and courteous. The doctor was very kind and explained everything very thoroughly. Excellent experience here. Office staff friendly and also well trained in the ins and outs of insurance, and what is being provided. The office is very clean and up to date. Appreciated the thoroughness of the exam and also greatly appreciated not having to have my eyes dilated (they said it was not needed in my case.) The technician, Valerie, was very friendly and efficient. Many of the initial tests were performed by her. I am impressed by the technology of the office which includes some tests my long term former eye care office in Cupertino did not offer (and I consider them to be a good business). Dr. David Norcott was very personable, professional and efficient. He offered excellent answers to all questions. I am at the age where my vision changes at least once every year or two (long term near sighted), and I also have a furry friend with eye issues so I am well versed in eye care on a consumer level. Not very professional. They would not allow me to buy or even schedule an appointment to fill a prescription because I wasn't examined by one of their doctors. Not sure what has changed, I've filled Oakley eyeglass prescriptions there before without a problem. I ended up finding another optometrist in town who was far more welcoming and friendly and who required no appoint and didn't care where my prescription came from. In a way I'm kind of glad Auburn Eye Care Associates were as unfriendly as they were, otherwise I wouldn't have found a much nicer and way more professional optometrist. Perhaps VSP should re-examine their doctor network credentials if "in-network" doctors can simply deny member services arbitrarily. read more

I am reviewing the location instead of the doctors because over the years I've been to two different doctors and worked with a lot of different staff here. I really like this place. I wear glasses and can have a hard time figuring out what frames would be good to get. The ladies that help you here are fantastic though - friendly, fun, and with a keen eye to guide you to the right frames. They have quite a selection to choose from too, so odds are you'll find more than one pair to meet your needs. The eye doctors are good too - I've seen Robert Belajic and Dan Belajic (father and son, I believe) and both are smart and professional without being standoffish or hard to talk to. Just good people who happen to be optometrists. They gave me some good advice that actually helped me take care of an eye issue, so I value their opinion. Hey, this is your eyesight, right? I can see why they have 5 stars! I was in the market for a new optometrist and decided to give them a try based off of the reviews. Glad I did. The staff is so pleasant and friendly. You can tell they enjoy their job. I saw Dr. Norcott, he was funny, knowledgeable and very kind. I have suffered from severe eye irritation my entire life and he gave me news things to try that no other doctor has suggested and came up with a game plan to help me get some much needed relief. (And it doesn't involve a bunch of meds and crazy routines.) I also love that he educated me and explained everything instead of just handing me a prescription and expensive eye drops then shoving me out the door. Dr. Belajic at Auburn Eye Care has been my eye doctor for many years, since I was 7 years old. He is great! Love him, his staff and their selection of glasses! The office is beautiful and conveniently located, however has the oddest smell that hits me whenever I first walk in that I cannot quite place (I think it might be a musty smell from a water fountain). I recently moved here from the Bay Area and needed a new eye doctor. I found these guys online. My first visit was a smooth experience. The front reception staff were incredibly kind and efficient. They were stellar to work with. They made my check in process super quick and welcoming. The doctor I saw was thorough and efficient. He listened to my requests and catered to what I needed- I really only came in for an updated glasses prescription. The only thing that was not pleasant was how much I felt pushed and pressured to do the glaucoma exam. I have trepidation about anything touching my eyes and since I knew that I was only there for a new Rx, I didn't feel it necessary to do any preventative care exams st the time. I understand wanting to be thorough but, as a patient, I have the right to decline any exam and want to be able to do that without feeling like I have to fight a medical assistant or doctor on it. I felt like the M.A. was really irritated with me and the doctor kind of pushy about it specifically. However, he did honor my request and did his best to understand my reasoning. Overall, it was a good appointment. When I went back for a frame fitting, I had the best experience! Lisa is incredibly skilled at what she does. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and what would be most cost effective for me. She found frames that looked great on my face type and made them feel really comfortable. She even fixed my old frames that had been crooked and uncomfortable for years. I know I picked the right office and will be happy to return. read more

Went to the location on sacramento street and was told we would be seeing an opthomolagist, thank goodness I asked because my husband was being seem by a "medically trained" per the receptionist optometrist. I asked to use the phone to make a call and then only needed to make 1 more call, asked if it was ok and wad told no, that they needed there 1 of 2 phones back, while the other was not in use and no one was in the lobby. While I was on the phone the receptionist raised her voice at my son telling him to not do something, I am the parent, do not tell my child what to do! I left letting both receptionist know that it was clear that as we were not going to be spending any $ that we were not welcome. I have been seeing Dr Robert Belajic for about 9 years now. He cares about his patients and his staff is wonderful! I recently decided to go through with LASIK and everyone in his office made sure my nerves were put to rest and gave me the confidence boost I needed. They answered all of my silly questions and made sure I was aware that they were there to help me with anything I needed. Dr Belajic even gave me his personal cell phone # in case after the surgery I was uncomfortable or needed advice. He his truly dedicated to making sure his patients are comfortable. When I moved to Auburn in 2013, I chose Auburn Eye Care Associates from my insurer's list of providers. The first time I went in, I was concerned that being a large practice, I wouldn't get the personal attention I had gotten previously from smaller practices. But I needn't have worried. Even though Auburn Eye Care is a very busy facility, organization and processes are well thought out, and everything runs like clockwork. Each person I see when I visit knows my history and why I'm there and is friendly and efficient. In addition to using Auburn Eye Care for my annual checkups and frames/lenses, I recently had cataract operations in both eyes. Dr Dillinger did an excellent job advising me of my options and coordinating my surgery. I would definitely recommend Auburn Eye Care Associations. The doctors and the staff are excellent. read more

DO NOT GO TO AUBURN EYE CARE unless one wants to be abused by the staff if one has an issue with billing! The doctor NEVER returned my call. On Feb 16, 2016 I had the most unsavory / disturbing experience I have ever had with the front office of ANY professional establishment. Feb 12 I had an eye exam, though was not due for the "annual" until May. I wear contacts mostly, but needed new glasses as had lost mine. I specifically stated this at the start of the exam performed by an assistant and stated again to Dr. Dan Belajic before he began his exam. At departure, the front desk told me I owed for the VSP co-pay AND an additional charge of $42.50 for the contact lens fitting. I questioned this charge a bit at this time, then just paid. Note, I left with an RX for the glasses only. My contacts RX had not changed since last exam May 2015. After consideration over the weekend I decided to complain about this additional contacts exam charge on Tuesday, Feb 16 (Feb 15 was a Holiday... hang with me, this fact is relevant). In my 30 years of wearing contact lenses, I have ONLY been charged an additional fitting fee for the INITIAL visit to an ophthalmologist. Amber answered the call. I politely expressed my concern over the ADDITIONAL $42.50 charge. Amber immediately engaged in a snarky tone and explained the policy, which I had already heard on Friday. She then accused me of waiting a few days to complain! Huh? What difference does that make anyway? Amber did not allow me to explain that Monday was a Holiday... she interrupted and talked over me. She explained the policy yet again. I tried to speak only to be talked over again. I tried to get her to stop by saying "this is not a monologue". She then accused me of yelling at her, I said I was not, so she changed it to "raising your voice". I believe she made these accusations for the audience she had, the other staff and the patients in the waiting room! Amber told me I came in for contacts!! She NEVER allowed me to explain that I did no such thing she continued to talk over me in the RAISED VOICE, stated she was going to hang up on me and did! UNBELIEVABLE. I immediately phone back, Kylie answered, I asked for the office manager. AMBER IS THE OFFICE MANAGER!!! Upon stating my name, Kylie HUNG UP ON ME! Phoned the office again, Amber answered. I asked for Dr. Dan Belajic, not available, voice mail? No voice mail. So asked for him to return my call. He has NEVER returned my call. I am sure that Amber never told him how she and Kylie conducted themselves...... That is what I wanted to speak to him about. I did not care about the $42.50 any longer. My issues, in summary: This should not have been a TRAUMA for me! This was a simple issue. I am the customer to be listened to politely - pass on the complaint Not the staff's job to get defensive and SNARKY - not their money, nor their job The UNPROFESSIONAL behavior of the Office Manager The UNPROFESSIONAL behavior of Amber's staff ( NO SURPRISE) Comment re: how courteous the staff is by other reviewers.... the TRUE test of courtesy is how one handles dissatisfaction of a customer. Its similar to the abusive man.... all is well as long as one behaves "correctly". If express dissatisfaction, WATCH OUT. With Amber as the Office Manager, one will be treated with abuse and rudeness if one has a complaint. BUYER BEWARE. And remember, Dr. Dan Belajic NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. ZERO STARS for this business, in my opinion. Also, I believe the $42.50 add'l charge for contacts at EVERY visit is unethical. Obviously, the Dr. is not satisfied with VSP reimbursement and tacks on this charge. VSP covers annual contacts exams. The Dr. should not accept VSP if not satisfied with the reimbursement rate. But then he would lose access to a lot of patients, wouldn't he? read more
