My dealings with Dr Leaming were not to be believed. Not only did he misdiagnosed my problem but also totally missed calculated my prescription for my glasses. My experience was sooooo much different than what other reviewers had I wonder if I was in the same place! We were visiting from out of town and somehow got something in my eye that was causing me great discomfort and my eye tearing like a faucet. My parents recommended The Vision Professionals. Fortunately I was able to get a same day appointment on the day before a holiday. Unfortunately I made the mistake of not confirming the location. So of course I was about an hour late to the Palm Springs location. When we arrived I was courteously greeted and explained my mistake. There was no yelling, no fuss, no rude response. The staff was eager to slip me in very late in the afternoon. Dr Lemming saw me as his last patient on the day. He was very thorough in his examination, not hurried, all the while being professional, caring and polite. He prescribed two medications, one which they had in the office. He provide this no charge saving me over $100. I could not have had a better experience. In fact I wish my eye Dr was as kind and caring as the staff and Dr from The Vision Professionals. I had an 8.20 a.m appointment, waited 25 minutes in the waiting room. That was a bot disconcerting. The young lady who is the tech did a great job. Was asked to wait again after another 35 minutes I was called by a Dr. Davis, HE WAS A MESS. He hastily directed me to a room from down the hall, he seemed more concerned about finishing a conversation with some other people. Upon entering the exam room 5 minutes later, he said 'good morning" I said "good afternoon" he noticed that I was upset at the delay and waiting. His response was as follows" You're lucky you weren't here yesterday, the 10.30 appointment didn't get seen until noon. Okay so my response is you all are so unprofessional that tardiness is common. Here's the kicker, Dr. Davis then went on to ask me what type of coverage did I have, and then he said to me depending on insurance coverage determines how patients are seen. I so feel sorry for the wonderful lady who has to monitor the yelp reviews, I am confident that her and other employees don't desire such feedback, but as I read the other reviews it is apparent that there is systematic breakdown of business integrity and professionalism at Vision Professionals. read more

Bad experience with the two ladies at the front desk of The Vision Professionals. Both women are unkind and unprofessional. Clearly both women dislike the business office supervisor, Rita Tindell who is the one who helped me because they didn't. I went to my appointment and proceeded to check in. I was asked for my Medicare card. I was in the Paradise Fire of Nov. 08, 2018 and lost everything including my Medicare card. Called into Medicare to inquire about getting another ID card. I was told use my social security number. Learned at The Vision Professionals that I needed a new card or billing would kick it back. After leaving I called The Vision Professionals again and reached Rita Tindell. I told her what happened at the front desk. She told me front desk could have called Medicare and gotten the number right then and there. I expressed wonderment as to why the front desk woman didn't do that instead of letting money for an appointment walk out the door. Not a fiscally sound decision I think nor professionnal. Rita kindly set up another appointment for the very next day. I explained my situation, that I was in dire need of glasses since mine burned in that terrible fire. And that I needed an appointment asap. She heard me and carefully spent the time (they were booked up she said) getting me an appointment right away. I was so grateful! I went to my appointment the next day that Rita set up for me. I walked in. The place was empty so I sat down. A gentleman walked in and asked me if I'd been helped. I said no. All of a sudden a younger woman jumped up from behind the counter and abruptly began asking me different questions regarding identification. I mentioned to her what had happened the day before with the other lady. I told her I had spoken with a woman the night before who said the front desk could have called Medicare and gotten the number very easily and I could have kept my appointment. I was not surprised to hear this because I felt as though I had been getting the run-around from the front desk women the day before. The younger front desk woman rolled her eyes and said that was Rita and that they were too busy to do that yesterday. I had called Medicare the day before this new appointment and received my new Medicare ID # but left it at home. I explained this to the younger, rather terse woman, who said I could call with it later. I saw the doctor Dr. Ribeiro and I like her. She was kind and professional unlike her front desk staff. Went back to front desk to finish up. The other front desk woman worked with me. She handed me Rita's Tindell's card which said on it Business Office Supervisor and said I could call Rita with my Medicare ID# on Monday. Her attitude towards me at that time was dismissive and cold. She seemed irritated that Rita had shared that detail with me and seemed to want revenge. I asked if I could call her after I get home. She answered with a double message. Her words said yes I can call her when I get home but her eyes and her mood said get out of here and don't come back. Didn't feel very good to me. I won't go back! Life can be hard and since I've moved to Palm Springs I've met so many kind, interesting people. I always wonder why people like the front staff two women feel they need to make life harder on others. My partner went in January and they ordered new contact lenses (he has the wear very strong hard lenses). I picked them up on Jan 17 and they charged my card. The lenses did not work. - fit was off and irritated his eyes. They said to bring them back and they would reorder. Which he did. Then everything went wonky due to Covid and they couldn't see patients. I called to learn they closed PS office, Dr retired and Yucca office operates very limited hours. But they had a voicemail system so I asked for an update... no reply. Sent an email through the website. No reply. Now I have left a message to refund my money since we had to go elsewhere. Stay away unless you don't value your time and enjoy being ignored. I went to a scheduled 10:00am appointment.....waited 45 minutes to be seen by a tech who seemed to do her job professionally and was then seated in a holding area to wait for the "doctor", a person whom I had not met but has apparently taken over the patients of my previous physician..... After no contact for another 45 minutes I asked what was happening and was passed to the office supervisor (why do medical Office Supervisors always seem to be authority-less bureaucrats sent out to shelter the real Authorities from dealing with issues?). She immediately showed me with a string of "explanations" hoping one would satisfy me - Doctor left, too few exam rooms, new software, even the "Affordable Care Act made us do it". I asked if that made everyone walk in slow-motion like zombies and got no answer. They don't deserve even 1 star. Dr. Davis is either incompetent, or unwilling to practice medicine by adherence to the standard of care, or both. He missed (or overlooked intentionally) the diagnosis of Blepheritis, while 3 other (separate) Ophtalmologists saw, diagnosed, and treated the pathology. Dr. Davis looks straight at eye pathology and does not diagnose/treat it. Thus, at Vision Professionals, diagnosis and treatment should NOT be expected. What should be expected is billing for services not rendered, or rendered by deviation from the standard of care. Vision Professionals in Palm Springs is the wrong clinic to go to with eye pathologies. Save yourself money & time and seek medical help for your eyes elsewhere. I am very disappointed in the service and quality of product I received from this business. I ordered and paid $450.00 for lens (alone) with premium features. When I received the glasses they had an obvious tint. They nor I was aware the features caused tint. As a medical professional, tint can alter color discrimination in my assesments. They removed ALL the special features.(@ no cost, ha ha ). Gave me plain lens. NO REFUND for the removed features. Told me it was an insurance issue. Insurance said they should refund me. VISION PROFESSIONALS gave me EXCUSES instead of trying to resolve the issue. I REFUSE to spend any more time, energy or money with this organization. I went to this clinic for the first time and saw Dr. Ribeiro. She was fabulous. Very professional and nice. She did a great job explaining to me what is going on with my eyes (I don't make tears anymore) and we came up with a treatment strategy that I think will work really well. The assistant was very good as well (I don't remember her name) and the clinic was well maintained and welcoming. If you are looking for a compassionate doctor who takes the time to really talk with her patients, I recommend Dr. Ribeiro. read more

My Mom has been going to Dr Gus for 25 years, so I needed to get right in since I am going on vacation next week. Not only was the office staff so very attentive to get me an appt, once I arrived my wait was only 5 minutes for Dr Keith Davis, what a pleasure to have him examine me I thought it would be grueling and expensive. Very unprofessionals. Patient suffers from advanced glaucoma. Staff never prepared. Paperwork never updated. Lost test exams. Seen 5 Opthamologist w/ no relief with his condition. Glaucoma out of control. completed lazer treatment that should have been done months ago. Laser was unsuccessful. Back to an incompetent doctor trying to refer us back to doctor that performed the unsucessful laser. They drag feet with procedures or referals all while patients eyesight worsens. We must be going to a different place than the other reviewers. We have a 15 year history with them with two different cataract operations and annual eye exams. We do have an occasional wait but nothing out of the ordinary. If you end up in the second waiting room it is usually because you had drops or some other procedure. Dr. Guss did both my and my wifes cataract operations. He was kind and professional. We have NEVER had any problems with Dr. Davis. If I had any criticism it would be for an older lady over in the dispensing side. She doesn't come across as real friendly but I think it is her natural demeanor. This review deals with the eyeglasses part of this business. I have nothing but praise for the courtesy and professionalism demonstrated by the staff here. I needed a new pair of non-prescription sun glasses. I had a pair of glass lenses from the pair of Ray Ban's that had broken. They tried everything they could think of to find a set of frames that would fit the lenses but to no avail. The sunglasses they suggested instead were even better than what I would have had. Their expertise in this matter was exceptional. I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

My friend, who cannot drive, had a second appointment with Dr. Shaden Sarafzadch at 9:30 on July 3, 2014. We received the usual confirmation call the day before. We live 85 miles away, so we left the house at 7:30 and arrived on time. When we arrived at The Visional Professionals, there was a woman who had been waiting 30 minutes for her appointment -- an omen of things to come. After waiting an entire hour, we were informed that Dr. Sarafzadch had "an emergency" and that it was unknown when she would arrive. We left, because we had another appointment to meet. The Vision Professionals could easily have called us to tell us of the "emergency," but they didn't bother to. We will not go back there, as we patients demand more respect than we were given. My father suffered a brain aneurism and had some vision problems so he got sent to see Dr. Robert Guss. He was incredibly RUDE and condescending to us. He made me feel like an idiot. After he was done with his diagnosis he just scribbled his findings and walked out. He didn't even bother to explain anything about his findings to me, he left me confused and worried for my dad. Skip to the all caps if don't want my long narrative. When I turned 18 in 2009 I went to this institute for an eye exam with the optometrist Dr. Wu. I had never needed glasses before but my vision was getting blurry and my mother had set up an appointment for me because she used this institute. I got the exam and then got some glasses in the prescription Wu had given me. When I wore the glasses I knew my vision just wasn't right. There was still blur and I thought there might have been a mistake in the rx. I went back to Wu shortly after to see what happened. He re-did the exam and there was still blur in the best-corrected rx. Wu told me something to the effect of "you're vision will just be slightly blurry with the closest prescription." No mention of any possible eye diseases or that contacts might improve the vision enhancement or even a referral to be examined by one of their own ophthalmologists. No one should have to accept less-than-ideal vision in glasses without a referral and no eyecare professional should tell that to a patient--especially a first-time patient with no previous history of any eye issues. Like an idiot I didn't listen to my horsecrap-ometer going off the charts and didn't get a second opinion. After I moved out-of-state, I saw a different optometrist who told me that I could have keratoconus. For those of you who don't know, keratoconus is a degenerative eye disease that causes the cornea to become cone-shaped and thus significant vision loss and can even cause blindness. Had this been mentioned to me originally as a possibility, I probably wouldn't have made any long-term commitments or moved until I could get a handle on what my situation was. So I commit myself to four years of college on the other side of the country when I could've stayed in my hometown in southern California, just a stone's throw from Dr. Boxer Wachler's office in Beverly Hills. Anyway, after years of misery, squinting, no confidence in what I'm looking at in low light, distraction in the classroom, and significant vision loss, I move back to Palm Springs in 2013. Forgetting that Vision Professionals was the institute that employed the optometrist I originally saw, I make an appointment this time with one of their ophthalmologists to officially diagnose the keratoconus and get a corneal map. She seemed competent enough, but don't expect any compassion from Sarafzedeh. When I later saw my very first glasses prescription with that Vision Professionals logo on it and realized that I had actually gone back there; it was so violating. The language I want to use to condemn Vision Professionals would make George Carlin blush, so it's probably not allowed on this site. Bottom line: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Every day I wonder how things could've turned out differently if I had originally seen a better eye doctor/vision institute. I have since met with and had procedures done by another doctor to halt the progression of keratoconus. I am in the process of getting contact lenses, since my vision is at a point where glasses can't fully (or even comfortably) correct my vision anymore. Contacts were a last resort for me, but I have to see what I'm looking at. I don't know what to expect from recent procedures in the long term, but the record is good. I apologize for being long-winded, but I wanted to paint the whole picture of a single event that had significant outcomes; like branching universes. Vision Professionals will rob you blind. If you need a prescription for contacts, your first eye exam is for glasses only. They do not tell you this until you had the exam, even though you told the receptionist, and the doctor, and the person who made the appointment that you wanted contacts. You pay $85 for your eye glass prescription that you don't need. Then you pay another $50 for another exam for contacts and then pay more for your contacts. They rob you of your time also. They only give you one pair of contacts and you are suppose to come back in a week to see how your eyes adjusted to the pair, paying another exam fee before they actually give you your contact prescriptions that you wanted 2 weeks earlier and before you spent $250. My husband only went through the first step before we wasted our time and money here. When we tried to resolve this, the office manager, Brian was extremely rude. We are taking our business back to COSTCO were you pay one price for one visit and get all your contacts that you need right away. read more

Our ophthalmologist is Dr. David Leaming (we see him in Yucca Valley). Since he is on vacation and my son requires being seen weekly due to an eye infection, we had to go to the Palm Springs office in Dr. Leaming's absence. After reading the reviewson Yelp prior to our appointment, I was apprehensive. For nothing. We were taken back to see the dr. (female, Dr. "S"-don't have the spelling). She was prompt, professional and courteous, as was the staff. No, the staff isn't overly outgoing and friendly, but I'm not there to make friends. I just wanted to make sure my son's eyes were evaluated competently, and I felt confident in the doctor's findings. In closing, Dr. Leaming and his staff in Yucca Valley have been absolutely wonderful and on the ball with my son's (serious) eye concerns that began in January of this year. Let me first say, this is my first time writing a Yelp review. Unless an experience was really bad, I wouldn't take the time to warn others. This experience was bad enough that I feel like it deserves 5 minutes of my time so that others won't waste their time. The visit with the doctor was fine, but then I was told I had to come back for a contact fitting. I was confused as to why I couldn't get both done in the same visit, but I came back. I was given a pair of contacts to try that were not only uncomfortable, but not at all the right prescription. When I told the contact fitting woman, she explained that I had to "give them a try" and once I found the right pair that was comfortable enough, we would find the right prescription. I wore a pair of uncomfortable contacts that I couldn't see out of for two weeks. I mean, I couldn't see street signs. It was bad. I had to go back four times for "contact fittings", which really just consisted of waiting 20 minutes before being grumpily greeted by the same woman who seemed to hate her job (and life). By the fifth visit, I just didn't want to come back; so I ordered the contacts that I could tolerate the most, and they still didn't have them in my exact contact prescription, so I had to order the closest to mine. DON'T GO, ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED CONTACTS. read more
