I went in for a YAG procedure in follow up to my cataract procedure 3 years ago. I was told it was…read moreall laser done, 100% painless, and they would do both eyes at the same time if I asked them to. Damn straight I asked them to LOL!! So it began with a dilation of both my pupils, quite a bit of numbing agent, and was led into the procedure room where I sat down facing one of those lovely machines with the head strap for your forehead. I'm sure you all know which chairs and machine I mean. With admonitions from the doctor don't move don't move, the procedure began, and was literally complete--both eyes--before I even had time to begin to feel anxious. Because my pupils were still highly dilated when complete, my vision was pretty awful. As the anesthetic and the dilation agent wore off, I was gifted with the results of this wonderful, completely non-invasive procedure with wonderful vision. And I have to say that I've been wearing corrective lenses since I was 6 years old, so it's not as if I walked in with a small flaw in my vision. Miraculously, I'm at 20/40 and I left eye and 20/60 in my right eye. For those of you that have been nearsighted all your lives and have needed glasses for far vision? Listen up because this is going to throw you for a loop LOL When I had my cataract surgery, they actually replace the lens in your eyes. What I didn't know, was that they put in a monofocal lens, which means either for nearsightedness or farsightedness. They usually opt for farsightedness which had been alien to me throughout my whole life. Suddenly, I was literally shocked that I could read his street sign from a block and a half away!! Clearly and crisply without squinting. However, the downside, and it's a big one, I couldn't read close up. Throughout my life I'd always have to take off my glasses or remove my lenses to be able to read comfortably because I have 20/20 near vision. Not anymore! I have to read with glasses. Yeah it's an inconvenience, but being able to drive without glasses or lenses is a remarkable experience, which I could never have done in the past without killing myself and 10 other people in the process LOL. I would never even consider doing it my far vision was so bad. The reason I'm telling you all this is in case you do have a procedure for cataracts they will replace your lenses that's a guarantee. So you have a choice in asking them to put in a bifocal lens as opposed to a monofocal lens. Which means you get both corrections. I wish I had known that going in because I never would have agreed to sacrifice my near vision, which as I said was 20/20, for perfect farsightedness. Well several years later, I'm not sure it was such a bad trade-off. For those of you that are hesitating because you're nervous or thinking that "oh my God what if they screw up my eyes! I'm not going to take that risk!" Let me assure you that the risk factor is tenth of a percentage point. There is no risk, and the rewards are incredible. So if you're one of those fence sitters that are worried that your eyes might actually get messed up, put those fears to bed because they're unwarranted. Do it. You'll be amazed by the ease of the process. I must confess that the cataract procedure was a lot more invasive and involved, it's not done well sitting calmly in a chair. They have to run an IV into your arm, but they Twilight you, they don't anesthetize you completely because you need to respond to the doctor in words during the procedure. I was so freaked out and scared by what was happening my brain shut it all out and I don't remember one bit of it not a bit of it. Now with cataracts they will only do one night at a time. They usually schedule the second one several weeks after the first one. Interestingly enough, when my brain realized that it didn't have to protect me, I remember every bit of it to the point where I asked the nurse did you give me the same amount of anesthetic as you did last week LOL. I responded to the doctor and I think I even asked him if there was a monitor he could bring near me so I could watch the procedure that's how relaxed I felt. The acuity group is a great choice, I have three separate outings there and have not a single complaint. Issue used vision correction for most of your and you need either one of these procedures, don't be afraid, they're nothing I promise you, and the results are greater than words could ever describe! So, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! DO IT LOL

He did an excellent job in evaluating my vision needs. Including pointing out an element of double vision that had not been corrected in my previous eyeglass prescription. There is an amazing amount of state of the art optical equipment in the office. Dr. Kelsch and all of his staff are knowledgeable in how to use the equipment they are assigned to use within their level of training. The staff documented the physical elements of my eyes and Dr. Kelsch did the visual examination to write the prescription for my glasses. Just like medical office staff uses basic equipment like blood pressure cuffs and pulse oximeters to relate basic physical characteristics to the doctor before he examines the patient. The doctor, the front office staff, and all of the employees in the office are extremely polite, professional, and knowledgeable. I have very high confidence in the doctor, the equipment, and all of the staff.

While both Dr. Alsafi and Dr. Yoh told me repeatedly that I was blind in my R eye, they did not state anything about me being blind in their reports. Why would they tell me I was blind, but not state so on the record ? None of the diagnoses in the exam report is fact-based. Fake diagnoses, omissions, and wrong diagnoses, were all I found. To what extent/how Dr. Carlson's Ophtalmologic Report was interwoven into Dr. Alsafi's report should be looked into further, as Dr. Carlson, Dr. Alsafi, and Dr. Yoh blamed my retina/macula for the blurry vision in my right eye, while the blurriness was mainly because of the dislocated IOL. An eye can not see without a lense. Does this make sense ? Dr. Alsafi even claimed I had Myopia etc, all invented. I don't have, never had Myopia. I went to another Optometrist, in another clinic. She did a thorough exam and prescribed correction glasses for my eyes. Strong corrections for my R eye. She stated I was NOT blind in my eye. I went to the front to pay for the glasses. 2 weeks later I went to pick them up. To my utter shock, the R eye glass was a plain glass, with no correction at all. That was identical with what Alsafi and Yoh had wanted. How on earth did their sabotage reach this "other" clinic ? I looked up who Dr. Taleb Alsafi was, on the internet. He is an Imam at the Chino Valley Islamic Center, and he is Palestinian. The woman who processed the glasses in the "other clinic" was Palestinian as well. I am Jewish. I requested they replaced the plain glass with the correction prescription. The staff refused. I asked to see the Optometrist who had prescribed the corrections. They refused. They said they were giving me a refund and abandoned me. They rejected all further communications. I will have this investigated. There is clear indication of intentional refusal to produce corrective glasses, violation of store policy, discriminatory refusals and rejections, apparently based on religion, in addition to intentional false diagnosis of blindness. If no discrimination would have been involved, I would not have been repeatedly referred to as blind, and given a glass for blindness, while I am not blind. Look up what the Quran states about Jews and Christians. I am left with no eyeglasses after multiple discriminatory actions by Dr. Taleb Alsafi and associates. Investigations underway.

Knowing it was an emergency, I drove mid-day to their PS office to find it locked up and dark and then drove to Palm Desert. I described all my symptoms which isn't rocket science when you've gone through it before, and they nicely told me they would not see me without a referral from another ophthalmologist. Their "policy" damned an emergency. Not having been to one in this city, they gave me a couple names including one in their neighborhood. I did go to that one, Dr. Le and they begrudgingly took me in and their Dr (with personality of a door knob) confirmed in five minutes that I had a detachment. Since it was before 3:00 in the afternoon I hoped they could refer me back to the retina consultants office a block and half away. NO. They were too busy that day for any emergencies and had no appointments the next day, and the next available appointment was more than a week away. The only other retina specialist supposedly in the area was not open. The ONLY option they gave was to drive an hour away to Loma Linda University Medical Center ER where they had a specialist on call. NOT true. Only an ophthalmologist resident on call. Thank God that after literally all night in their ER I was discharged and the resident set me up to see their retina team first thing in the morning and I was in for surgery by 9:30 am. Screw Desert Retina Consultants and their care less attitude toward emergencies. Don't expect me to ever call on them again. I know enough about detachments to know that they are emergent situations and that some times they are now or never if not treated in time. I guess I'm also disgusted that there aren't enough specialists in the Coachella Valley if they are telling me there are only two offices in the entire valley. Shame on them for forcing me to go waste Medicare and my money to go have one of their colleagues see me first to say what I already knew.
