What a terrible experience. Stores like this are competing with Walmart and Costco, who have the same products at better prices, by providing better service and expertise. Somehow, the Aliso Viejo Vitamin Shoppe did not get the memo. The elderly lady who works there seemed most interested in finding different ways of telling "no" or "I can't help you." I came in with a return that my wife left me, with a brief note on a sticky, that said, "Return to the Vitamin Shoppe" on it. Instead of finding a way of helping, this lady would not stop pointing out reasons why she couldn't help me. She pointed out the packaging, the date on the shipping envelope, assumed that a random 3 digit number was the date of purchase, which it wasn't, and said that I had kept the vitamins for over a year. In fact, whenever I had a question or an answer to her comments, she wouldn't stop telling me why her answer was "No." I finally left the store. I have no idea what the actual reason was, but I learned quite a bit. Mainly, don't assume because you are paying higher prices in a smaller store, that you can expect better service. The selection is very good, the store is clean and the staff are helpful. The con relates to what is affecting most brick-and-mortar retailers these days -- price. You can find better prices online which means I'll only be here when "convenience" is necessary. Possibly they price match so I'll be sure to ask next time. After making my transformation ton becoming a health nut, I have been shopping here for all my dietary and muscle building needs. I have found that the Vitamin Shoppe has an excellent selection of pretty much everything. I don't think I have even been greeted with only a single selection for a given supplement. The location is both convenient and annoying all the same time. Convenient because its right next to my house and only a few minutes drive and annoying because its on the corner of a major intersection in the parking lot. Quick tip... park in the little lot off to the side of the bank and not directly in front of the store. See too many people sitting there for a crazy long time just trying to back out to leave all to save themselves from the trouble of taking 20 extra steps to the BofA ATM there. read more

Decent sized vitamin shoppe located in the heart of the Aliso Viejo Town Center, right next to the BofA. This store stocks multiple brands and sizes of every vitamin or supplement they have. They also frequently have sales, which makes their products and prices competitive with Costco. I've only been inside here once during a sale and bought a couple of supplements I take daily. Staff was friendly, helpful and educated me on the different options they had to choose from in the vitamin and supplement I wanted. It bugs me when you are looking for a specific nutritional supplement and you can't find it by itself...For example, if you are looking for Calcium, you will only find Calcium + Vitamin D. That's really lame cuz you may already be taking a multi-vitamin which already has the D and you just need more Calcium. The Vitamin Shoppe is nice because they carry a wider range, and if you are looking for the Calcium alone, and it's not in stock in the store, you can special order it online, have them ship it to the store and pick it up at no extra cost. At specifically the Aliso Viejo Vitamin Shoppe, I pick up my online orders, and the folks there are very friendly and accommodating. read more

... If you know what you are specifically going in to purchase, or prefer to explore on your own it's great. However, we came in the evening needing assistance, and both associates were just hanging around the cash register. No greeting coming through the door. No eye contact. Couple of douches waiting to punch their time card. Good thing we figured out what we needed. No one bothered to ask. Going to GNC in the future. I don't think a second time will be a charm. Shopping at their competitor will give them more time to hang out... In the unemployment line. read more

I like this Vitamin Shoppe. I usually know exactly what I'm getting, but someone usually greets me upon and entering, and I know they are always willing to help, if needed. The store is always clean, and the layout makes sense. I usually know what I'm getting, and can figure out where to find it. The only downside is the parking. The shopping center it's located in, especially where Vitamin Shoppe is, can get really terrible at times. I've almost seen more accidents than I care to count, and a Vitamin Shoppe employee told me there had been numerous accidents they'd witnessed since they started working there. read more
