The BOGO 50% off this weekend was great! I didn't need anything but I've been reading about different supplements. It was good to see it all. They have a lot of inventory and they had signs up when something was sold out. A few things were priced higher but the bogo made it comparable. Costco sells some of the items at a lower rate. They had a really good mix of ghost brand items. I picked up this Hawaiian punch c4 energy drink foR the first time and loved it! I can't have the whole can at once though. My whole body was tingly. We didn't need any assistance while shopping. I appreciate that the guy working immediately welcomed us, asked if we needed help, shared the special with us and left us alone. I love that! I'm not a shopper that wants conversation. There is construction going on to modernize the mall but the store is open! read more

I had a very disappointing experience at The Vitamin Shoppe. I purchased a protein bar, and when I opened it, I discovered it was moldy. I brought it back expecting an apology and a simple replacement, but instead I was told I would have to pay the price difference if I wanted a different bar. This was handled very unprofessionally. When a store sells expired or contaminated food, the focus should be on making things right for the customer--not asking them to spend more money. I understand prices may vary, but customer satisfaction and food safety should come first. I also think the staff should be more conscientious about checking the quality and expiration dates of the products on their shelves. Selling moldy food is unacceptable, and the way this situation was handled left me with little confidence in shopping here again. I hope management takes food quality and customer service more seriously in the future. read more

I'm going to make this short and straightforward, I've spent hundreds of dollars here for years and they don't provide a welcoming environment and some of the workers are very incompetent. I have exchanged 2 items and I was refused for the 3rd one. Being a gold member and a frequent buyer their policy states you are eligible for a return/exchange within 30 days. I will give credit where credit is due so if you need help ask for Julian ONLY. Besides that Yolanda, Jesse, Ryan and the other workers are very unknowledgeable and unwelcoming. I'm new to fitness and this was my first experience at a vitamin store in my entire life. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a young lady "Jesse"? I think? I had a general idea of the products I was looking for but not too knowledgeable since this was my first experience. Long story short, this young woman was amazing! She talked with me for over 20 minutes about what I was looking for and what I needed- she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She even showed me a couple features on my fitness ap I don't know about. I always say businesses run on competent employees. I was surprised to see negative customer service reviews on this place. This place is ok and has a decent selection of supplements and health and wellness products. The employees aren't pushy and don't try to sell you on one brand over the other. With that said, they're almost non-existent until you go to check out. There's a rewards program where you earn points for the dollars you spend and every so many points is money off. I should've had money off, but the lady working the last time I went in took my phone number and that was it. I'm not really sure how it works and it wasn't really explained other than you got a discount. I appreciate having this location close to me so I can stop in for my supplements. I also appreciate how the employees aren't pushy like other big chain supplement stores. They usually have discounts on some products if you look closely. My sister and I went to this location hoping to find something to help with our journey in bettering ourselves. I had been here before a while ago and it wasn't the best experience... so unfortunately I wasn't looking too forward to it. I was happily proven wrong! Julian immediately came up to us when we walked in and asked us a few questions instead of just assuming things like I dealt with the last time I was there. He was able to give us information and products based off the questions he asked and gave reasons as to why some things would / wouldn't work. If I could give zero stars I would. Update your hours online if you aren't actually open until 9. I arrived at 8:35 for an ONLINE PICK UP ORDER THAT WAS READY TO GO. Door is locked, but there's 2 employees standing there at the register telling me there closed. You know the least you could do is open up the door and tell me instead of shooing me away. I wasn't trying to roam around the store and purchase anything, I was picking up an ONLINE ORDER that was already paid for. Came into The Vitamin Shoppe specifically looking for Lecithin granules to add as a supplement for brain food and to help lower cholesterol levels. They were having a sale on it. Rudy the manager came over and asked if we needed assistance. Yes, please, and thank you! He showed us were the product was but there was only one. Rudy advised us that we could purchase it now and the warehouse would ship the second one for free. We also talked about aromatherapy and essential oils. Rudy was very knowledgeable, friendly and most of all helpful. I also purchased some beautiful royal blue oil bottles with droppers to make my rosemary essential oils in. After coming here a little more frequently, I found that staff is always very unhappy or not very willing to help. I find Alexis to be very rude and unwelcoming. She never wants to leave from behind the cash wrap and it's not like she wants to ring you up when she's behind there anyway. There has even been an occasion where she's snapped at me. I used to find Mervyn helpful but as of late he looks unhappy and doesn't seem to want to help. It's a shame because I'm sure he has some great knowledge about products. The only person who I like is the older lady and one other gentleman. Wish I remembered their names. I think I'm just going to frequent the new location in Clairemont. The employees there are very friendly and knowledgeable which is important when you're looking for new products mid training. The two stars are only for those two employees that I hope start to work more often. read more

Went in with the intent to buy whey protein for my business. I was greeted right away by one of the managers, Rob. He was very informative and helpful in working with me to find the best product for my customers. I picked up the vanilla optimum nutrition. I blended it in a strawberry smoothie and it was perfect. The flavor was just right to be evident but not overpower the strawberry. It does not hold that obvious protein flavor that so often robs a drink of its initial desirable flavor. Nutrition-wise it offers a lot. A good dose of whey protein without a ton of the additives. The product has all great reviews on their site. read more

I normally go to Sprouts, Whole Foods or farmers markets for my soaps, skincare or herbal supplements then when Sprouts stopped carrying my witch hazel I was on the hunt to find somewhere close by that carried it, so when I searched the internet and Vitamin Shoppe came up I was happy to see that it was also cheaper by .50 cents. The first time I came in they were out of the kind I was looking for so I decided to try another which I was ok with but not 100% happy about it, then when I had to re-up they had the one I was looking for in stock but only a couple bottles. Looks like maybe I have to get them when I see them so I don't have to settle on a different kind. Then a week ago I went in to see what they had for herbal remedies for colds, I hate colds during summer they are the worst!! To my suprise they had a decent selection, even the liquid mushroom comprehensive immune support i usually use which at Sprouts costs $35.99, here is was $30.99. One of the salesman on the floor helped me he was friendly, personable and very helpful! He suggested oregano oil, I have used it in the past but he recommended it in the gel capsules it is much easier to take than the liquid for sure. I highly suggest this product it helps cut the durations of your colds in half. All of my recent times here the staff has been helpful and nice. Overall, I have noticed that they are considerably cheaper than other stores for certain items. Sign up for the emails and they will send you coupons. read more

I normally don't write bad reviews, because I can understand if an employee is having a bad day or if somethings are out of their control - but the lady at Vitamin shop was very rude. I came in looking for a specific item they didn't have but they had a larger size than I wanted. I saw on Amazon that it was $10 cheaper and wanted to see if they could price match or at least order the smaller size. They couldn't, which is completely understandable but I wanted to see if they could at least order the smaller size but the lady seemed like she was on a tangent and cut me off when I asked if she could at least order it. Now I would've preferred to buy it there and almost contemplated getting the larger one but the way she responded just seemed really rude. I was debating even getting a protein shake replacement but I realized it just wasn't worth giving my business. I have no problem paying extra if a company can't price match, or if they literally cannot do anything but least you can do is provide better customer service. I felt like my business wasn't wanted nor needed there whereas other protein shops legitimately want to help you find the product you need. Definitely will not be coming back, I'm sure some of the other employees are kind, maybe she is too, but this interaction just left a bad taste in my mouth. Why am I going to buy a product that I don't want for $50 when I can get the size I want on Amazon for $20 with better service. I had the pleasure of walking into this establishment and the older woman who helped me out was amazing and helped me out much more than I thought she would. SO , I originally was going there to pick up some c4, by the way the mystery flavor kind of tastes like the mystery flavor airhead from way back when. Anyways, I went to go check out the whey to 1. check out prices and 2. try and figure out what the hell it does exactly ( I'm a complete noob at all stuff shakes) The older woman who was working there saw my husband and I kind of struggling in between the whey, whey isolate and the protein. She asked if we were finding everything ok and we admitted that we weren't. She pretty much gave us kindergarten descriptions and helped Us pick the right one for what we are need. She then asks if we have any more questions and we asked if there was anything for joint pain and showed us to another section where she gave us more kindergarten descriptions of what we would need. Before this gets any longer, it was an amazing experience. The place is clean and products are up to date. The store flows so you're not running around looking for something that's on the other side of the store. This is the first vitamin shoppe I've ever been in so I'm not sure if they're all like this , but that's besides the point. I wish I knew the lady's name because she made my day. read more

This place has every vitamin & supplement you may every need or look for. I came in here and instantly I was assisted right away. The staff is somewhat knowledgeable but I knew more about they product I was looking for. I do have to say the store is well stock and staff is friendly. If you are looking for a water retention product they have slim selection but make sure you read the label because the one that was suggested had sodium in it and I had to point that out to the girl that worked the floor. Overall it was a good experience and I will be back for other supplement needs. read more

Thank you to RUDY for the patient and informative info per our phone convo today. I called because I had trouble getting an order thru online. Rudy was great and gave me another number to call as he couldn't be positively sure of a question I was asking. Although he gave me the correct answer, he requested I call Customer Care for surety. I did and got a great person on the phone to chat with. All in all my experience was fantastic with both the Employees I chatted with. I live out of the area and have not visited the La Mesa Store directly, but if I do get the chance I will go there. Again Thank You Rudy, and Customer Care. And just a note to those that expect/demand Employees to bend over backwards for you because you are in a bad mood, bad day, in a huge hurry, or are an overall grouch. I went in there today to find some items for a detox I am doing. There were 3 employees in the store but no one bothered to greet me. But of course it's just me and I am reading into things. So as I struggle to find what I am looking for up and down the aisle, they do greet others and ask if they can help them. Still no one says anything to me. I even walk up to a woman who is stocking items up on a ladder and she turned away. A half second later she climbs down to help someone else. Okay, it's not just me. i find the item I am looking for, walk up to the counter and hand it to said lady who is now behind the register. She looks at me and says, "Do you want to buy this?" Now what would make her think that after 5 minutes in the store, picking up an item and walking it to the register, that that would mean I wanted to buy it?!? I say, "Yes, is that a problem?" She says, "No, I just thought I saw you just walk in." Really? I respond, "No, I have been shopping in here for quite a while." She says, "Yes, I know. I saw you." Huh? She continues, "But I thought you were here, and then left and now wanted to return this." So she basically thought I was a thief and trying to return an item I just shoplifted and is now shocked that I actually wanted to buy it?!? I didn't say another word as she shook like a leaf throughout the entire transaction. As I returned my wallet to my purse it slipped off my arm to the floor with a bang and she jumped back and said, "I'm sorry!". I looked at her as if she were crazy and told her, "What are you sorry for? It's my purse and I dropped." I guess it sounded like a gun. I know...my fault for shopping while black. read more

I made an impulsive stop here last night after nearly falling asleep at the barre in my Ballet class. I was looking for an energy boost without the jitters and insomnia usually associated with energy drinks. Although I walked in the door about 15 minutes before closing, I was greeted warmly and allowed to browse a bit before asked if I had any questions. Jules was amazingly knowledgeable. She really listened to my questions & concerns and tailored the supplements to me instead of just pushing product. And there was no expectation to buy she just truly seemed to be interested in talking about the products available of which the majority she has tried herself so she could even recommend flavors.
