Back in the haze daze days, i used to live by here, somewhere over there. This was my first entree into an adventure of vitamin shoppes. The staff were actually helpful, but not bothersome. Their selection was a bit on the steep side of pricey pills but hey, its better than trying to scram on the shady streets of San Diego for a quick fix of some astaxathin or what have you. Its basic product service as it should be, nothing more, nothing less. No complaints, no real props. read more

Customer service was terrible. I wandered around aimlessly for no less than 10 minutes while the group of employees bs'd at the counter with a vendor before I asked for a hand in locating a supplement. I have to admit, after the first 5 laps, I was curious as to whether or not anyone would even offer to help...they noticed me, but didn't even bother trying to do their jobs. I went in the with my fiance to get some advice, on supplements and such. We were greeted right away and the girl there gave us a lot of useful information and recommendations! i love all the products we purchased and they are doing exactly what she told us! I especially love the product Jack3d its an energy booster so you can work out longer and it really helped me to be able to start running! Got in there not knowing a ton about that stuff. Needed some weigh protein for my after training recovery. Wasn't greeted really quickly, was helped when I asked, they didn't have my brand.... Suggested something else that was decent though. When I asked if I could exchange if I didn't like it, the employe didn't reply to my question. She just said; you are gonna like it. This is one of the places I have used to purchase supplements on an off for the past 6-7 years. I used to stay away from commercial supplement stores because they are usually pretty expensive but apparently I am a fool. I was able to pick up 2 BSN aminos w/ 30 servings each for about 30% the best price I had found and snagged a good fat burner within 2 dollars of its bodybuilding.com asking price. The customer service here is always great. There seems to always be at least 2-3 fit people walking around the store offering knowledge and assistance. The organization of the store is a little questionable, with products scattered throughout the store in a very awkward and inconsistent manner. I found myself stumbling upon great proteins and having to travel back and forth across the store to compare them. I will definitely stop back by on payday to see if I can find any more clearance steals or sales. read more

So all of my years coming to Grossmont I've never stepped in here for fear of spending lots of money on vitamins that I'll never take. Until tonight. I'm now taking much better of myself since finding out I'm lacking some necessary nutrients. So Justin helped me and he was AMAZING. Not only was he super knowledgeable but he was sweet, caring and took time to answer all of my stupid questions since I know nothing about vitamins nor the necessity. Through out the years we've been purchasing from this store and most of the different employees who worked here were sweet & helpful... however today we walked in and I had the worst customer service. I had a few questions regarding the general safety issues and the side effects that can result from the Whey Protein shakes and Creatine powder and the young lady who was suppose to kindly answer our questions started acting rude answering back very briefly like a smart a## while sarcastically smirking the whole time towards all our questions as if NO ONE ever asks those types of taboo questions at a vitamin store. Even though, I knew the answers myself I just wanted to hear her input but I regret asking her anything let alone purchasing the protein shake. Wish we had the nice gentlemen with the other customers...guess I'll take my years of future purchase elsewhere. read more

Been coming here for a while, this place isn't pushy like all other places (well if you buy this than you really need this and this). The staff can come off as a little uptight , but I actually don't mind it cause it gets you in and out within 2-3 min, wich is great I'm not trying to spend my whole day hearing a sales pitch; for.something they are trying to promote. When you do have a question they are more than happy to help you out and then will they take their time with you. Overall always a good experiance at this location. read more

Sunday the 3rd I went to Grossmont Center's Reading Theater for the 50th anniversary showing of 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was the first time I had been to this mall since at least five years. After the movie I went over to the Vitamin Shoppe, which I had spotted driving into the mall. I did not know there was such a store here. I walk in, a female sales associate was talking to a customer at the register counter (not about anything related to her purchase). The counter faces the door directly. I could tell she saw me but did NOT acknowledge or even move her eyes in my direction. Already a bad impression. Especially since I had just contacted GNC complaining about a pair of girls at their Chula Vista store. No acknowledgment and no greeting. Not a good start. Then I had to walk around the store two times to find the protein bar section. At no time did the female employee interrupt her conversation to ask me if I needed assistance. Having worked myself in vitamin stores, this is unacceptable. Just to update, the District Mgr read my review and contacted both by e-mail and phone. I appreciate the effort that they made to contact a customer. read more

I dont know what the last review was about but I think thats a fairy tale to cover up another reason someone doesnt like this shop, pretty lame and unrealistic if you ask me. I like the touch about the purse being mistaken for a gun shot though, I get them confused some times too.... Anyway it is what it is, you need supplements/Vitamins, I doubt youll find any bigger selection in a store. If they dont have it, youll probably have to get it off the internet. Price-wise, you will almost always find a better deal online, but with that you also pay shipping and have to wait for it to arrive, the choice is yours...GNC does have a little bigger selection for the weightlifter however. I ordered an item on line as a Christmas gift. I received an email from them advising me that the item was ready for pickup. Two days later I receive another email telling me that the item was no longer available. It was paid for and I had till the 30th of Dec. to pickup my item. I can only surmise that my item had been sold since it was my understanding that only one item remained in stock. My advise to anyone ordering from this company: DON'T! read more

My dad went in a couple days ago to purchase a natural energy supplement to help him while surfing. A man sold him something called "Jack3d". The man did not give him any specific warnings so my dad thought it was okay to purchase. He had one serving the next evening and was in and out of the hospital all night and the next day with extremely high blood pressure. I researched this product and not only is it not approved by the FDA, but it is not to be taken by those with high or low blood pressure, cardiovascular problems, diabetes, etc. My dad who has suffered from high blood pressure for many years was not given any of this information and was not issued to take precautions while taking this product. I warn ANYONE who purchases any form of product from this store to do research BEFORE coming...because obviously the employees don't know either. read more

I admit a bias that I always try to go to smaller shops for specialty items like vitamins and supplements. But I am always impressed that the Vitamin Shoppe always has every item I am looking for. Of course my go to stores have all the basics, but when I'm looking for more obscure things like malic acid or lithium orotate the Vitamin Shoppe never disappoints. read more

I am a frequent shopper here. From supplements, to protein powders, and even vitamins for not only me, but my dogs. I went in specifically to buy 2 containers of ISO100 Whey Protein, but I was disappointed to see it was $7 more than on the vitacost website I came across. Vitamin Shoppe surely isn't the cheapest but I've been a pretty loyal customer willing to pay a little more because of their selection and also, for the most part, knowledge and friendliness of their staff. Not this time!! What a waste of a trip down here!! I asked if they price matched and they didn't give me a straight answer. They asked me to pull it up on my phone, which I did, but they never asked to see it. They just used their computer to see if it was cheaper on their online website. It wasn't, so I got a sorry. This is the first nutrition/supplement shop I've known to not price match. As often as I come here, my future business is a bigger loss than the $7 difference you weren't willing to match!! read more

One of the sales ladies, Samantha, was more than helpful! She guided me to the right protein for me and helped me figure out which preworkout would be best. Great store! They had most of the items and supplements there that I need for my natural hair journey. The store was clean and the staff was nice. However one of the employees was stuck to me like white on rice. She stayed close to me and insisted on helping me after I told her that I didn't need her assistance because I had already found what I was looking for. There was 3 or 4 other customers in the store who actually needed her help but she was hell bent on not leaving my side as long as I stood there browsing items and comparing prices. She was very distracting and very annoying as she stood next to me and touched a few bottles of oils as if she was straightening up the shelves and yet never moved one item to its rightful place.. It didn't dawn on me until I walked away that she was counting supplies like I stole something. What an awkward moment. Will I shop there again? If the prices are right yes, if this happens again no.
