First off I don't do much shopping at this or any Vitamin Shop. However, after this last transaction, I may just have to change my whole life. We went looking for Liquid Death Energy drinks because they are just plain good and not filled with a bunch of shite like the other brands. We heard that the Vitamin Shoppe carried them, and did they ever! They carry the cases! 100% full score! Then enters Adam, asks us if we need help finding anything, and so we bite. He takes us all the way to. the back of the store where the beautiful full cases are stored. He then proceeds to fill us in on how clean they are and is far more knowledgable about energy drinks than a healthy man should be, we were enthralled. THEN, dude takes us around answering questions about protein bars, protein donuts, protein cereal and Adam KNOWS his shit. Like seriously has the receipts on everything in that store and beyond. Word to the wise Vitamin Shoppe, you should keep this dude happy cuz he's either gonna run your corp one day, OR put you out of business with his own. Let's just say that we are newly formed fans of the Vitamin Shoppe. They obviously have the right people in place and know great people when they meet them. I most always get good, helpful service at this store. My concerns are more with corporate who has closed two stores where we spend most of our time. Secondly, I get coupons, but then have found that they don't apply at the local stores. Sometimes here and elsewhere, store personnel have gotten me the discounts which I appreciate. Shopping there after Black Monday, they were out of stock on some items I would expect them to have. Seems like The Vitamin Shoppe doesn't support its retail locations, but this stores seems to be trying its best. read more

The customer service, if you can call it that, definitely leaves something to be desired. I walked in tonight unaware of the time and was met at the door by an older woman who rolled her eyes and sharply said, "WE ARE CLOSING IN 30 SECONDS!!!" I told her it was a good thing because I only needed thirty seconds, and immediately grabbed my purchase. My husband was a few steps behind me in entering the shop and she turned to him and rudely said, "Uh, we ARE CLOSED!" Really lady? Lose your creepy attitude or you will lose customers. Customer service leaves a lot to be desired at this location; in fact it's pitiful and the staff has become annoyed with me on several occasions when I interrupt their conversations with a question or need. It's quite awful and in fact I'm actively searching for other supplement options because of the very poor customer service and because for months the Vitamin Shoppe brand of digestive enzymes were out of stock. The enzymes are now the only item that I purchase from them; I've found replacements for everything else. If this store goes out of business, it'll be their staff's fault entirely. read more

They've got a great selection and great prices, but I'll take my business elsewhere after this afternoon's visit. While I was checking out, an older lady was asking for help reaching a product that she couldn't reach. The young guys behind the desk were adamant that the product was not there. The woman walked over to the employee looking for it and pointed it out. As she did that, the guys still working behind the counter rolled their eyes at her in front of myself and other customers. They also acted incredibly rude when she asked for a price match. C'mon guys! If that was you're grandma, would you want someone to treat her that way? Customer service goes a long way. DISCLAIMER: This review isn't about this location - it concerns more than one store. A while ago I found some keys. The only identifying item on them was a Vitamin Shoppe awards card, so I did a random search for VS and called the first one I found. After I gave her the awards number, she immediately gave me the person's name and phone number! Well, sort of: Turns out it was the right phone number but the wrong name. Days later, I actually visited a shop and handed the keys to the employee at the register. Before I could ask him to call the customer, he started giving me the customer's address! I was shopping quite regularly and was putting up with the lack of service while a staff member was on her lap top never acknowledging customers. Yep, this place is OK. They have their own house brand (usually cheaper than everything else) but they also have a variety of other brands. Clearance bin with a bunch of nutrition bars for a song too. They were out of Carlson in the smallest size so I tried the house brand since it's also 50% off your second bottle at the moment. The fish oil is OK for the low price but watch out for that "Especially For Men" multivitamin. Aside from a quite generous but also pointless dose of garlic powder that makes it taste awful, I'm pretty sure something in the weird mix of added herbs is making me pee neon yellow. read more

I went in to Vitamin Shoppe to refill supplements carrying my service dog today at 1 pm. The young man said I can't bring my service dog in. I told him he was wrong.. I checked the Washoe County ADA laws including a picture of the laws on the front door. I did qualify. He ASSUMED my dog didn't qualify. Horrible customer service and extremely Un-knowledgable. Went in today looking for a new protein powder and after 10 minutes was finally approached asking if I could be helped. I mentioned I was searching for a new protein powder and showed the lady a few I was looking at and she said "you know it's really the flavor that is different- nothing else". We asked her to ask her colleague and he says the same thing! Complete lack of knowledge on what is in the actual products and what the product can do to help you achieve your goals. Huge selection but is completely invaluable if you do not have staff to promote and provide guidance on the product. A good place to buy supplements, drink mixes for ailments and vitamins. I needed to find a liver detox and was shown where that was with a few of them the clerk thought I might like. I got out my eyewear and got set on reading them all until I found the one that suited me best "Critical Liver Support". It was almost $40 but it seemed to have all I was looking for. I figure that I'll try this one first and some cheaper ones later after my blood test. That's how I'll know if it works. They share the parking lot with Whole Foods but the Vitamin Shoppe has a larger selection and usually better prices. It's worth a quick check, though. read more

I went in her with a friend of mine who likes to purchase his supplements for weight lifting okay no biggie, upon walking in there were 3 employees working it was a Friday night about 3 weeks ago nobody even acknowledge use! This store does not honor Vitamin Shoppe national sales. They say they are a "pilot store" (Maybe their code name for franchise?). If you push them on it and have documentation they will make you wait about 45 minutes while lecturing you on how they are "helping you out" and will refund the overcharge. Quite frankly, the store is not that great for all the hassle. Employees stand around and chat each other up while ignoring customers. I agree with another reviewer who says you can get better prices - and much better service elsewhere. If you really want something from the Vitamin Shoppe brand you are probably better off ordering it off the Internet. This does does not honor the member card discounts, either. FYI. Because we live within about an hours drive from Reno, we save our Reno trips for about once a month, and we usually almost always stop at this Vitamin Shoppe. The staff is usually pretty friendly and helpful, and they even signed us up for the points club and we've gotten a few coupons, which I TOTALLY LOVE. After price shopping online to some of their items they carry, the price can be substantially different, so make sure to price compare - sometimes they are same, cheaper, and sometimes upwards of $5-$10 more then what you'd find online. Every time we've gone by, it seems like their customer services is pretty nice and low stress (unlike some of their competitors that want you to blow a ton of money on supplements) they seem knowledgeable and easy going. Good selection of vitamins and supplements, but the prices are not the best. Been there twice in the last month. It's a nice little store with a very good selection of nutritional supplements. I go there mostly for bodybuilding products and they carry many of the popular brands. Both times I've been there we've gotten service within 2-3 minutes of browsing around and the staff has been helpful and courteous. The price of products tend to be on the side of expensive. However, they have a house brand which seems to offer some pretty high quality and it's reasonably priced without being cheap. For the convenience of buying stuff quickly, and a good selection product, you're sacrificing price a little bit, but I still like this place. read more

After asking me what I was looking for, I was told I was looking in the wrong section. I proceeded to tell the clerk that I was looking in the section it was in the last time I was in the store.
