The Vitamin Shoppe is my go-to place for multivitamins. It was actually cheaper to buy them here than through the manufacturer. I was able to combine a buy one, get one free offer, with a 20% discount for in-store pick up. Online ordering was easy and seamless. Although the email confirmation said to allow two hours for pick up, they notified me the order was ready in less than a half hour. I went to the Sports Arena location. I sometimes go to Grossmont as well. Both stores appear to be similar in size and product offerings. When I walked in, someone quickly offered to help me and retrieved my order. This is only my second time here and I had a great easy experience. I've got a half marathon coming up real fast and I neglected to plan ahead on finding energy gels or chews. To my surprise, these bad boys are hide to find around here. I checked grocery stores, sporting good stores and other vitamin shops. I called ahead to make sure they carried this in the store. And they did! I drove over on my break to pick some up. The brands and flavors are very limited. I went with GU as recommended by the store clerk. She also recommended sticking with chocolate or vanilla. Staff was really helpful on helping me decide. The store is very well kept and well lit. They have a good assortment of supplements and vitamins. There is plenty of parking. The turn getting out and back in the freeway is a little tricky so be careful. I really enjoy going to the TVS for my supplement needs. Ran in to purchase "The Cleaner 7 day Women's Formula" detox and some BCAA for my workout. I didn't get the young lady's name that helped me, however she was very helpful and knowledgeable about both products I purchased. My sister was raving about the "The Cleaner" detox and I really wanted something to help cleanse my system and help jump-start my eating clean. The employee educated me on how I should take my BCAA. For example, I should be drinking the BCAA during my workout, not before (silly me..I didn't know lol)!! I've always had a good experience when coming to this Vitamin Shoppe. Although the Rosecrans/Midway area can be pretty chaotic, I have always been able to get in and out of this store without any trouble at all. The parking lot always feels super busy, but I have always been able to park easily. This store always has everything I am looking for in stock which is so great. My main reason for coming each month is for my refrigerated probiotics. Although I am sure there are many places I can purchase from, I just feel the most confident buying here. I was not impressed at all by this Vitamin Shoppe location. The store, itself, was clean and well stocked with your normal supplements- protein, bars, vitamins galore and even organic soap and shampoo. The two ladies I encountered seemed very uninterested in their jobs. They were more into their poorly done tans than they were about answering my questions. All I wanted to know was when the Metabolic representative was coming in. When I finally found out that the rep had left earlier than scheduled, I asked if they had any samples. I could have probably given you the colors of the logo, but I had never actually stepped inside a Vitamin Shoppe. Tired of Strawberry, I was ready to try a new whey powder. I did some window shopping around the Intrawebs, and found the going price to be about $50 give-or-take for 5lbs. of Optimum Nutrition Whey. I was happy to see that The Vitamin Shoppe was advertising $37.99. Scorrrrre. Walking in, the layout is surprisingly open, unlike all of the GNC's I'd ever visited. At GNC, I always feel like products would be hanging down from the walls if they could get them to stay...basically way too much clutter. But, I digress. At Vitamin Shoppe, all products are arranged by brand and function. I was a little disheartened to see that the price of the whey was MSRP, but upon asking one of the employees, he looked it up online for me, and gave me the discount right there. Happy chappy. Overall, great experience. I was in and out in about 10 minutes, and will definitely be returning for any additional needs (at least after looking online first, ha). This place has sweet sweet prices and is run by awesome people! So I hired a personal trainer to get fit to pass the physical test for the police academy, and was told to get a protein shake to drink after workouts and an amino acids based powder to protect and build muscle (to be added to the protein shake). I went into this Vitamin Shoppe just to buy the Matrix shake and was going to buy the other from one of the trainers at my gym. But when I went inside and explained things the store manager found me a comparable product that was less money than what the trainer was offering me! He also educated me in the field of exercise and really gave me some good quality attention even though I wasn't spending more than $50. I had only been in this store once prior to today's visit, and the employees remembered me from last time. One of them even printed out some information for me that was inspired from a conversation we had when I first visited the store 2 months ago, just in the event I happened to come back!!! Seriously, this pace has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Apart form the awesome prices and the brilliant customer service, this store has a HUGE range of products. I even bought some white pomegranate tea that comes in silk bags which gives the tea a better taste. The fat: - Getting in an out of parking lot can be tough - drive south on Rosecrans and enter from the first driveway south of Sports Arena Blvd then loop around the parking lot to the north side. Very clean store. The staff were very polite and helpful - not pushy at all. They asked one time if there was anything I needed help with and didn't continue to hound me until I needed them. They were well educated in their products. It location is unfortunately on sports arena blvd which is by far the worst traffic pattern in San Diego. The "ancillary" sales people (the people who don't work for the store but have separate display tables set up in the store) were also polite and didn't push their products. They had a BOGO (Buy One Get One) at 50% sale on their Vitamin Shoppe branded products. The store is pretty huge, I think you could pretty much find whatever you are looking for in terms of supplements, vitamins, etc. I had previously only ordered from them online (very nicely done website, remembers your previous orders, well laid out, easily searchable etc.) . The cashier looked me up in their system, updated my info & made sure I got my "rewards" credits. They seem to be a cross between GNC & Nutrisport. I went here to look for some protein powder over the weekend and naturally, I got lost looking at other products (I love supplement stores). However, when I had questions the employees were relatively uninformed which kind of turned me off. It's always OK to say "I don't know, let me check.." but they just kind of gave me a crummy answer. There is a large selection to choose from, though mostly from Boiron (I prefer Hyland's, but when I'm getting ill, I'm not that choosy!). They had an 'online only' discount, but you can order online to get the discount price, then choose the 'pick up in store' option. It seems they often have sales online. They carry products here that are difficult to find elsewhere. If they don't have it in stock at the store, then they will order it for you. Customer service was friendly and helpful. That is good, because I was getting fed up with the rude employees at Sprouts. The only chain store for supplements I shop at. If you're into bodybuilding type supplements, talk to Dan. He definitely knows his stuff and used to compete himself. The prices and selection here are way better than GNC. They also do not and try to up sell you on anything or a so called discount card. The staff here is not pushy and they let you do your thing. The rewards program is sweet and I usually get at least a $100 bucks back in January. The only downside is Vitamin Shoppe does not get new items as fast as GNC.
