Beautiful river views! My partner and I arrived just after the evening rush but in time to get seated at the bar looking out over the river. I had the perch fried with baked potato and coleslaw. The perch was fantastic--very lightly breaded--and served with a big chunk of lemon and yummy tartar sauce. My partner had the pickerel and red potatoes and he was very happy as well. We had a nice chat with the bartender who is a long time resident--my partner grew up in the area so he really enjoyed catching up on history and changes around town. As an added bonus we got to watch folks fishing for walleye in the river, and then enjoyed a nice walk along the park. read more

Poor service. Why the senior citizen club in the dining area? Never again and this was always a favorite place. The food has changed so much that nothing is the same. Stop cooking days ahead (I'm talking about the potatoes!) and microwaving into oblivion. The older man seating people left us to rot at our table. I had to go find him again to get someone to wait on us. He sucks. The young lady that overheard my asking whether or not there was even a server was more than accommodating. First time customer (and definitely the last). Made a reservation over the phone for a window table overlooking the water. When we arrived, the host lied and told us there were no window tables available. After seating us far from any water view, she proceeded to seat the next three customers at window tables. To add more of an insult, the server does not listen very well because he brought two wrong items that we did not order to our table and we had to wait a lot longer to have it corrected. This was our first trip to this restaurant as we were meeting several people up for dinner. Unfortunately, for us they have very few vegetarian options, but we were able to find a few. The perch dinner was tasted by our friend which she said was excellent. The Maurice salad seems to be seasonal and they do not have it on the regular menu, but it is very good. The Classic Alfredo was a surprise as it was absolutely delicious and included a lot of vegetables which was not noted on the menu. Wish they had a few more vegetarian items to try. The clam chowder was traditional and also tasted great. They had a beautiful view of the river and even a freighter came by. The service was attentive but it took a very long time for us to get our food and drinks. They were not very busy and we still had to wait quite a long time. If in the area give this place a try, especially for the view. read more

I'm writing about the Sports Bar & Grill in the Voyager building. The burgers are juicy. Corned beef is cooked in house they use Wiggley's brand. The corned beef sandwiches are piled high & worth every penny. The appetizers are typical bar food. There is a bowling alley inside and a more formal dining restaurant The Voyager facing the waterfront, at the opposite end of the bldg. Sports bar has limited afternoon/evening hrs. so check out their website first. It can be pretty loud in the sports bar grill with a lot of TV's on, after all, it's a sports bar. The fried chicken is great and so are the fish sandwiches. Good food. Good prices. Good service. Clean. The sports bar & grill is way better than the formal Voyager restaurant, in my opinion (of course). read more

Arrive sit down, tables on either side of us arrive 10 to 15 minutes after we sit down, they were served their bread, their salads and soup and we're still sitting there waiting for anything. Always a favorite stop for us. We had issues receiving our food, which is fine but when the food arrived it wasn't what we ordered. It took longer than normal because of the mix up. Some people received the correct order and others had to wait. Half the table of 4 was done while the other 2 people had to wait and we were thrown off our schedule a little. This was my first time at Voyageur and I was fairly impressed. I went on a Tuesday right as they openEd at 11am and the place was fairly empty. Pat, our waitress, was fantastic. Very attentive and super friendly! The French onion soup was delicious. Super flavorful, warm and tasty. The perfect amount of cheese, croutons and onions. I had the salmon Caesar salad which was huge for a lunchtime serving. It came with an entire fillet of salmon which was flavorful and cooked to perfection! The restaurant was fairly empty with only 1 or 2 other tables at lunch time; and the bar had a few patrons as well. I'd definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone looking for a dining option in the area. read more

I went there on Saturday & Sunday afternoons during the 2023 ST. CLAIR CLASSIC - OFFSHORE POWERBOAT RACE JULY 27-30. Saturday, we had a very personable, efficient, & attentive waitress, Katie. I can't say enough good things about her. Sunday, we returned to have a quick lunch inside before the races. Our waitress was, Christine. She was knowledgeable on the menu & offered suggestions. Afterwards, we went outside and actually were able to score a non-reserved table. Carson L was our waiter. He had his hands full with the group/crowd of tables he had. We had out of town guests; my husband and I wanted to treat them to a special dinner on the water. We had read that The Voyageur was known for their prime rib. Dinner reservation for 5:30 pm. The one star is for Gabi, our waitress, she was very pleasant and did a nice job serving us. The hot rolls and real butter were delicious. The rest of the food was terrible! And it was not a cheap evening -- the bill for 4 people was $150.00 (roughly $30/meal plus drinks and tip). My ribeye steak tasted "funny". It was tough, overcooked, no seasoning, looked boiled (not broiled or grilled). The steak was served with a small unimpressive salad, instant mashed potatoes, and undercooked onions and mushrooms. Two people had the prime rib. One was to be medium rare and it was tough, dry, and well done. One was to be medium well and it was a hard, dry slab of overcooked meat. No marbling in the meat, didn't even look like prime rib. The fourth meal was a breaded fish that was also overcooked and dry. My husband and I were so embarrassed. We should have said something that night, but I didn't want an unpleasant scene. I did call the restaurant the next day and ask for the Manager. They would not bring him to the phone. They took my message and said he would call me back. It has been a week and no call. We will never set foot in The Voyageur again. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Went to the Voyageur on June 26 as part of a Huron Lady boat trip. I ordered a vegetarian meal and what I received was a plate of noodles with a sprinkle of cheese or top. I had to ask for some veggies for the noodles and I received some. Needless to say I was very disappointed with my plate of noodles. And no I did not eat my so called vegetarian meal. I was told vegetarians are so hard to cook for well you do say you have vegetarian choices. Would I recommend this restaurant NO. In closing all I can say is Voyageur you could do so much better. Terrible experience. I ordered Prime Rib medium but it came out VERY RARE, then to add insult to injury they charged $30 for it when it was listed on their menu at $24. Mike said sorry, but prices change daily. REALLY? If that's what they think of our 40 customers we will find another place to meet. read more

We wanted to go out to lunch and enjoy the beautiful day so we had heard good things about the Voyageur and decided to try it. We ate on the open air patio right on the water and you can see our view. We saw 2 freighters come by while we were eating. We both ordered lake perch for our entree which were very good. My wife had baked onion soup which she really enjoyed. The service was fast and efficient. All the staff wore masks and a hand sanitizer station was right next to entry door. If there has ever been a restaurant that I've gone to and just felt meh, this would be it. Everything was good, nothing great. Definitely come for the view, and stay for the view. Not really worth the 45-60 minute drive, I can find better seafood closer to home. The decor isn't bad, it's very classic nautical restaurant in my opinion. The service is okay. Food is okay, basic & a little bland. Some family really wanted to come here for dinner during Labor Day weekend. They raved about some item on the dinner menu, unfortunately we were told we couldn't see the dinner menu until 4. We were in the restaurant at 3:30 so we thought no big deal. We had our soups and salads while we waited, unfortunately that wait took much longer than we thought. One of my aunts and I decided to order the broiled shrimp and scallop dinner, everyone else for some type of steak or friend shrimp dinner. The broiled orders came out fried, so that took some time to fix. Once we had our food, it tasted okay-nothing I'd write home about. They serve some dishes with their pina colada sauce, which tasted very similar to the pina colada mixer you purchase in a store. Overall the meal left a little something to be desired. Dessert was tasty-coconut cream pie. If you live in the area and are looking for an easy weeknight dinner, this may be a good place for you. If you have a drive like mine to get here, I'd look for something closer to home. read more

The saving grace for this place was the amazing drink, honestly. I ordered the shrimp and scallops pasta with pesto sauce, and the pasta was quite bland. The shrimp was over cooked and the scallops didn't even have a sear on them. The bread was amazing though. Unfortunately the pasta was the biggest let down of the meal, especially the seafood in it, being that the voyager is more know for seafood, I expected it to be amazing. read more

Went here for the first time today, after attending an art fair. Being on the lake, I expected a seafood-oriented menu. Instead, the menu was minimal, and nothing unique. A burger, a sandwich or two, a couple seafood dishes (salmon with butter! Fish and chips!) ... all very mundane. I had the fish and chips, my wife had chicken Marsala, and my kids had a chicken Caesar salad, and chicken strips & fries The chicken strips and my fish were totally over-fried. The fish pieces were almost nuggets, and some were so thin, they were more breading than meat. The over-frying rendered the fish tough and rubbery. My son didn't complain about the chicken, but he sure focused on his fries. As for my wife's chicken Marsala, whatever sauce they included was not Marsala sauce; it was more like plain white gravy (with all of one mushroom). And since she has Celiac Disease, the flour-based thickener triggered a Celiac reaction. So, mediocre AND pain-inducing! And my other son's salad had almost no visible dressing on it. To top it off, the prices are outrageous. I don't think there's an entree under $15, and none of the entrees we had were worth that. Atmosphere and service were fine. Nothing remarkable, not regrettable. I don't think we'll be back. It's a lovely looking place, but they're way too expensive for food that is sub-chain restaurant. read more

The view on the patio is so relaxing- overlooking lake st. Clair.extensive menu. Went with dinner menu- tho it was only 2pm ish. Shared a pickeral dinner, along with crab cakes. Both were very good. Starts with home made biscuits with butter. Dinners included salad, or coleslaw,choice of potatoes. Large portions and everything tasted so good. Added in 2 ice tea- with tip $50. Been coming here for years with my family. My parents think The Voyageur has lost its luster from the days they used to go there, so they refuse to go here anymore. My husband and I were in the area and decided for us to try it. Busy place on a Sunday afternoon in the summer. The hostesses were all lost teenage to young adult females. There were about 2-4 of them in crammed in the tiny hostess stand and they all were confused on what was going on and who was going to sit where. Very short with my husband and I and not friendly at all. The problem with The Voyageur are the bathrooms are off the hallway of the hostess area and therefore, it is a congested area. Plus the front door is off of this hallway and bathroom too. But these hostesses just made it worse since they didn't know what was going and standing in this small area already. The place is large in itself with plenty of inside seating, a bar, and a piano player was playing in the bar area. I wanted to sit outside to get the wonderful view of the water, but there were barely any tables outside. I noticed patrons would sit outside and were done with their meals/drinks, but would just sit there, so tables were barely turned over. The Voyager would benefit from extending their outside patio, there appears to be plenty of land for them to do that too. We sat inside at a table but right by the window to look out at the water. The place needs a major facelift décor wise. Worn down looking and no modern edge or updates. Looks of older folks eating. Going off memory but I think on the menu they even charge those that want to split an entree. They want those poor old peeps to pay full price for a single entree. I think we were the only young couple there and the only good part of the inside of the place, is looking outside. The bathrooms are just your typical 80's/90's tired pink ceramic tiles and pretty gross. Our waitress was a very sweet older lady who was attentive to our table. I got coconut shrimp and my husband got fish and chips. Lots of food comes with your entrée like bread/salads. Plus a potato and green beans. No complaints about the food, very good. Really the only restaurant in St. Clair to my knowledge right on the water, so good location, but service and décor need updating. Food a bit outdated as well but tasted good. The patio and view can't be beat of course and they are doing a great job within the COVID situation. This place is a blast back to the 80's past! If you grew up in Metro Detroit and experienced 'fine dining' in that time period, it will give you nostalgia. Frog legs, lake perch, imitation crab stuffed mushroom, "Teriyaki"....it's a retro menu. The service was great, at least two salad dressings and bread are made in house, my two alterations were accommodated without any issue and they cooked the asparagus perfectly (not a hint of mush). Definitely not the dining of 2020, but if you want to revisit old memories with a great view, it's not a bad stop. read more

Drove out to have a nice family meal on the river, but sadly it was so so utterly disappointing. Location is nice, wait staff is great, but my god the food was absolutely awful! Green beans were not cooked long enough at all, nearly raw, the mashed potatoes and gravy were such low quality, like a really bad buffet experience. Our sautéed shrimp were extremely oily and soggy, like they didn't thaw them properly before cooking, and the scallops were bad too. It was overall just so disappointing and we felt like we really wasted our hard earned money on overpriced low quality food. Never again! Which is sad, because the location on the riverfront is so picturesque. Side note they really need to change up what the pianist plays, the style was really cringeworthy. read more
