Disappointing, first time customer went for our 20th anniversary. Fine dining it is not, great view the food was a cut above Coney Island. Clam chowder soup should have been called potato soup. Crispy fried calamari was not crispy the breading was falling off and some of the calamari was barely cooked. My wife had fish and chips she enjoyed the fish it was lightly breaded. The side dish of asparagus had been soaking in water for a very long time before being served. I had shrimp tortellini, the shrimp was very good the tortellini don't know when it was made guessing quite some time ago. The dish came hot but the vegetables inside where raw. Basis on the food we didn't have Desert. The flip side the waitresses cheerful and attentive. Guess we were looking for something more upscale. read more

My daughter and I ate there recently - we were sat inside and next to dirty tables that were not bused and it was pretty much a turn off - we then decided to eat out on the patio as we had to wait for that table to be cleared. It took awhile for our waiter to come take our order but he was really nice so it wasnt that bad. Dont bother ordering the oysters rockafeller - that is my absolute favorite dish - but after I tried theirs, i think its not my favorite dish anymore... oysters were way undercooked and by the time it got to our table it was lukewarm at the best. I ordered broiled whitefish - mine was extremly over broiled and there was not much of a taste to it. My dinner quest had the steak and ordered mashed potatoes with it - she said it tasted like they came out of a box. We also had to ask for our silverware after the main course came. I ordered another beverage which the waiter never did bring. I missed the days when Mr. Silvas owned it - the food and place was always top notched - but after this recent trip, we wont bother to come back again... the food was so disappointing, really a shame. read more

We had lunch on the patio. Great view. Service was excellent, specially with only 4 tables of customers outside. Rolls were a great starter, unusual for lunch. We had two salads, two sandwiches. Both salads (one Asian, one gourmet) were huge with a large chicken breast. Chicken was a little overdone, but not dry. Both dressings were good. Sandwiches (one Reuben, one club?). Both were good. The view is amazing but that is about the only thing I would recommend. The dining area severely needs an update, the menu also. I ordered a sandwich and my daughter a shrimp dish. Food was utterly disappointing. She found hers inedible so I let her skip to dessert. The waitress brought out a tray with no pricing and my daughter picked a slice. The bill was surprising for how disappoint the food was. I feel like there is a lot of promise in the placement but they really need an overhaul to be what they could be. read more

Haven't been here in years and decided to have lunch. It has changed in not a good way. My husband ordered the strip steak. It came out cold and it was a big chunk of grizzle. Never seen anything that bad. He never complains but, it was inedible. Sent it back for a hamburger. Once again cold crappy meat. My Pickerel was good but not hot. Not sure what the problem is with the temp of the food. Salads were passable lettuce with one ring of an onion, one small tomato wedge and two slices of Cucumber. Made reservations & when we arrived didn't have our reservation written down. Arrived for Sunday lunch at 11:30 and weren't told when we made reservation that kitchen didn't open until 12 noon. Three people we interacted with didn't seem to care or offer apology. The whole experience was very unwelcoming and although we have been there many times over the years we didn't stay and won't be going back. No one seemed to care or speak to us when we got up from table and left without ordering. Sad, it was in the past a nice place to go for lunch or dinner. Sad! read more

My husband and I came here for our Anniversary dinner. It's an unseasonably warm mid October day. What a perfect place to spend the late afternoon, gazing out at the beautiful St. Clair River while enjoying one of the most delicious fish dinners we've ever had. Went to Voyageur to celebrate my moms birthday last night with a group and sat on the patio. First off, I'd like to say Josh did a great job! It was pretty busy and he was on top of the game! He kept up with everyone and we didn't wait for refills on drinks or water, and never had dirty plates on our table. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food. We all got quite the assortment, fish, steak, shrimp, salads, you name it. The food came out paced well, soups and salads before out entrees. Even being busy, food did not take very long. The appetizers were better than the main course. The clam chowder had sand in it which was a little gross. Also the waitress was a little rushed I felt. Clanging all of the dishes around when serving all of our food and was trying to take our orders like it was the end of the world. Not exactly what I expected. Of course the view is spectacular and the service was awesome but the decor is dated and the food was bland. Everything was steamed, starch and not presented as to the expectation of such a beautiful location and such a high dollar per plate. This place has a live piano player most weekend nights - easy listening and it's very relaxing to head there and enjoy a cocktail at the bar, request a love ballad and look into the eyes of your date/mate. However, I would then head elsewhere for dinner. We unfortunately did things a little backward and ate first and then had that night cap. None the less with a trip if you are in the area. read more

We've been to the Voyageur a few times and have had great food each time. The atmosphere is casual, but with a nice ambience and a great view of the river. It's fun watching the freighters glide by. The menu is varied and the soups and salads are good. We really love the bread basket with flavored butter. If you love fish, this is the place to get it! We gave the Voyageur a second try. Our waiter was great! Friendly, nice kid, good conversation and super service. I didn't catch his name (snap) but he made up for the cranky manager we talked to at our last visit. Love the outside seating and the atmosphere is calming. Came in about 8:30 and it took the bartender about 15 minutes to even come out from the back and greet us. We were then told that we can have a drink, but they were closing soon. Last time I checked, staff was not supposed to make the guest feel like they were a bother. Drink was like lighter fluid. Only amazing thing was the man playing the piano in the corner. read more

Went here with family, hearing that this is one of the better restaurants in the area. Arrived before 6pm, and put our orders in right away, and waited over 45 mins for our food. The chicken in several dishes was cold, the fish was dry and one order was completely wrong. Our server Pat, was rude to a person in our party who is gluten free, and wasn't very helpful throughout our meal. I hope the management is able to resolve these issues. read more

First off let me say that if you are looking for a view of the river this is a great place. You are right on top of the water while eating. We had a family reunion here and it really went well. The owner goes out of his way to make sure the event goes well. We have also had kids bowling parties here which are reasonably priced. The fish is good, try the walleye appetizer. Very disappointing prime rib dinner. The french onion soup tasteless and the cheese looked microwaved not really baked. My loaded baked potato was barely the size of a tennis ball and covered with more chopped up bacon and scallions than potato also no sour cream was brought out or asked. The asparagus was limp and overcooked again no flavor. Last the main event the prime rib was not evey cooked and had very little flavor or spices. Everything was bland and not very hot...the cheese sticks were good. Way too expensive and this dinner was too expensive at any price. We wont be back. read more

This restaurant being my first time here was okay. It's sort of an average joe diner with a perfect view of the St. Clair River and Canada. I had the pasta with the balsamic vinegar, blend of veggies (including asparagus) and grilled chicken breast. It was okay, but the taste of the entire entree wasn't quite as impressive to lofty expectations. The service of this restaurant was fairly decent at best. I guess I am sort of bias to this review because my friends and I know the owner and he hooks us up with drinks a lot of the times we come in. This place is a bar / restaurant / bowling alley all in one right on the St. Clair River. I've never bowled there but that portion of the business does bring in a lot of folks, both old and young. The bar itself was absolutely packed over Thanksgiving and is just about each time I stumble in there, maybe not so much during the week and non holiday weekends but regardless there is a steady stream of people here. Now what you wouldn't know about The Voyageur is that there is a really nice restaurant on the back side of the bowling alley. Its a completely different character. Its a place to bring dates, its one of the only nice all around restaurants in town. The food is really good, whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner. I've been here for every one. I suggest you take a little drive around Saint Clair and look at your options. My guess is that you'll end up at the Voyageur. Great small town "entertainment complex"....ha. read more

My wife and I have previously dined here and have been satisfied with both cuisine and service, we stopped today and I was brought to write of our dining experience. Before I continue, I must state that the menu that is currently displayed on their website does not match the one presented to us today, they definitely need to update their site! That being said, we decided upon the "Specials" of the day - Prime rib, for my wife, and pork chops broiled with apple slices in an apple brandy sauce! Both meals were superbly prepared and presented to perfection, and were the most delicious meals either of us have had dining out in over two years! We have come accustomed to being disappointed on a regular basis at many of the highest rated eating establishments in our area and throughout the state of Michigan. Our hats are off to the chef and his staff, as well as our professional, affable, friendly, timely server - nothing rushed, nothing late! What a rarity in today's dining experience! I hope you continue in this mastery of the dining experience, we plan on being back in the near future to enjoy such a memorable meal! read more

My wife, son and I happened by The Voyageur today for some lunch. What a pleasant surprise!!! We found the place by chance on the internet, saw that it was on the water, so we decided to try it. The service was very good. We had a nice young man who took care of us. We were seated outside and the setting is perfect; right on the water, birds, fishermen, simply wonderful and the day was just beautiful. The food was wonderful and fresh. I ordered the "Sports Melt" which is basically a ham and cheese on a chibatta. The ham was fresh and tasty, the turkey was not lunch meat turkey or anything like it. It was fresh turkey right off the bird!!! The chibatta was wonderful and it was HUGE and came with fries. Before that I had their soup of the day which was Unpepper....basically a green pepper type soup. It was stellar! My wife and my son were throughly more than satisfied with their meals as well. This is a place would definitely recommend. It's probably the best restaurant on the water between Algonac and Port Huron. I can't believe more people don't know about it. There were a handful of patrons which is sad. They deserve more. The location is a little weird, and it's attached to a bowling alley which has it's own conotations. Go here. Eat here. I've been at The Voyageur for lunch at least once every winter for the past 9 years. Part restaurant/bar/bowling alley-anyone from St Clair likely frequents this place on the regular. The restaurant/bar offer a fantastic view of the water/freighters/neighbors to the north- though from here I guess they are technically neighbors to the East? The food is decent - they have a variety of seafood options, though it doesn't seem like any of it is actually local catch. Service is pretty decent, in an old-school kind of way. All around, it's a decent stop-in if for no other reason than the view :) read more
