We stopped at the Raft on our way home from a trip to anchor Bay. The menu is half burgers and half sandwiches so you have limited choices but what they have is pretty decent food. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on an onion roll, and the chicken was very tender and tasty. One person in our group got a burger and she said it was delicious. One person got the fish and chips and enjoyed that and another person got a grilled cheese sandwich. Update: I give The Raft a chance every few years. Despite the cult following, nothing has really changed (see previous review). IMO, it remains the most overrated restaurant in this area of Lake St. Clair. Pre-frozen food served in a musty interior floating on a rusty metal platform barge. The (legendary? LOL) Raft burger smothered in bad chili is a nasty mess. Ho-hum fries. Flat pop. Service was slow, about 30 minute wait for burgers and fries. Just go to Burger King or McDonalds. read more

Solid 2 stars. Burgers are their specialty, but they are not that good, sorry. The onion rings are good. Fries were bad, how is that possible? Service was very good but it took an hour to get 4 burgers. This place was busy on a cold February Saturday because of all the ice fishers and people out snowmobiling, on their atvs on the frozen lake. What a super cool spot! Now that I'm on summer break, I have so much more time to get out and enjoy the beauty of Michigan. We jumped in the car and headed out towards the lake. There are so many small bars and restaurants surrounding the water. You can literally do a bar hop around Lake St. Clair. The Raft was on our itinerary and it was everything we expected. Nautical themed, this bar is dated on the inside but it adds character to the place, makes it perfectly charming. We were not in the mood for food so we ordered a few beers and headed outside to enjoy the weather and play a game of cornhole. The backyard of this place is HUGE!!! I'm sure it's a fun spot for music and hanging out with friends on a busy night. Let's just say, I smoked my friend in a game of cornhole and we almost gave ourselves heat stroke. This place could be in northern WI or MN. Definite local, north woods vibe. Just burgers and fried food for the most part. Quality is equal to the price so you can't complain. Stopped in here while on the lake... The docks this year have perfect amount of water and plenty of depth. Ordered the raft burger with cheese and it was fantastic... Perfectly cooked could not recommend a better selection. I can't wait to go back... Maybe even this weekend. The mozzarella sticks are the good breaded kind opposed to the frozen dipped in Grease... All-around a great meal and highly recommend it. Of course the location and sunset views are breathtaking and worth the drive if you're not from the area. We've been coming here 10 years and never had a complaint even though the food isn't good and it's overpriced. Today the service was poor at best. The waitress was argumentative and rude and combative and after an hour we never received our food. Overall it is was disappointing and sad and we won't be coming back. Terrible food... Terrible service. We called ahead for 5 burgers and fries. The order took well over an hour. There were people there, but it was by no means busy. They need to get more workers or close! Once the food was ready, they didn't include the fries. Claimed we didn't order them. $50 just for burgers?!? 2 out of 5 people got sick that evening and the rest of us had stomach aches. I will be calling the health department. Mediocre food, horrible service. The "famous Raft Burger" is begins its life as a frozen, preformed patty. It's 6oz., and smaller than the bun (pet peeve of mine). I ordered fried mushrooms with a patty melt. Neither were good. The girl I was with ordered a burger and fries. Both were nothing more than "ok." My pattymelt was small, much smaller than the bun, it was over cooked, and the mushrooms were frozen and popped in the deep fryer. Fries were bland and tasteless, burger wasn't much better. The service is flat out awful. They act like they're doing you a favor taking your order, and they don't want to be there, Alice's diner style, without the bad sarcasm and comedic value. They take forever to take notice of you, take your order, and bring your food. The bill did come on time, but it seemed more like it was because they wanted us to leave. Not very welcoming, not very friendly, and not worth coming to. On top of all of this, they serve your food on cardboard containers that blow all over the place when you're trying to eat your food. It's an outdoor establishment, you'd think they would put up something to block the wind or serve you in heavier plastic baskets/plastic plates that wouldn't blow away. The bottom line, if you're hungry, this is the next place on the right, AND you have a spare hour to kill, sure, stop in... At least it has a good view.
