We're obsessed with this place. The drinks are perhaps the most reasonably priced in chicago, and they are always good. The menu is seasonal so the options are never too overwhelming and are carefully curated. The front windows fully open so you can get a nice outdoor experience while being protected from the sun. It gets very loud once they switch from day-to-night eras, so it can get a little hard to hear your party. The service is great too, the bartenders are good at suggesting which drinks you might like based on your previous drinks/interests. read more

NYEve unmask 2024 event, 1st time here, was very leery to attend but excited to try "The walkin", got there early and our first bar attended was very nice and accommodating. As the night grew with the NYEve attendees, the cozy venue became crowded while understaffed. ONE Bartender was attending a crowed bar and did not have real support while doing a great job. An assistant became overwhelmed and started getting less than friendly at the end of the night. Needless to say, the NYEve experience mood was shifted as the side assistant decided to skip us when passing out the complimentary Champaign. We decided THE WALK IN, turned into THE WALKOUT. The Walk In is an absolute neighborhood gem. While I had been a few times here and there in previous years, I've become a regular over the past year or so. The amazing staff is what keeps me coming back. They're some of the friendliest people you'll meet. Even if it's busy they make time to chat with regulars and newcomers, all while keeping the drinks flowing. No matter which day you go, day or night, you'll be in good hands. Special mention goes to Gabby who is a A+ bartender. She's attentive and nice, and she'll help you decide on a cocktail if you're new or want to step outside of what you usually get. In addition to every person who works there being a pleasure to interact with, they're always playing fantastic music. They adjust the energy and the volume of the music to match how many people are there and time of day. If you're hungry there's a deli next door at the connected liquor store, and the sandwiches are really good. If you're not in the mood for a deli sandwich, then you can also bring in outside food. Another thing I really enjoy is that they are a very welcoming bar for Black and Brown folks, as well as LGBTQ+. Being comfortable is a huge part of having fun! So to recap: amazing bartenders, really good cocktails, good beer selection (I want more stouts and porters though, but I'd have all bars only serve stouts and porters if I could!), awesome music, food on site and outside food allowed, and a welcoming and safe atmosphere. We finally got a chance this past weekend, as we were barhopping a bit in the neighborhood, and remembered they were nearby. I'm so happy we did...what a great place! Man, what a bummer. I've been living in the neighborhood for a little over a year. I'm SO glad to be here. It's such a breath of fresh air from the rest of the city; it really does feel so unique and interesting. I've been to the Walk In twice. The first time I didn't leave a review because...well, everyone has bad days. But upon my second visit, I'm realizing the dude with the glasses needs to find a new job. Or go work at another bar. I'm in the industry, so I get that people can suck. This dude is just so immediately unpleasant. He's been rude to me twice, multiple times each visit. I live in Logan Square and shame on me, I didn't know about them until Yelp's Cocktail of Chicago event. If you went to the event, you know The Walk In WON as the best cocktail of Chicago! Their drink The Get Down has freshly squeezed pineapple juice, rum, citrus and drambuie in it - a true crowd pleaser. And you can come here to get it!!! At the event, their staff was #FriendlyAsFuck just as their signature hashtag suggests. I went to the Walk In last night to try them out live and in person! Sarah from the event was working and she was once again, really friendly & personable. They really have an amazing team here! When we first walked in about 6pm, we were the only ones in there so got our chat time but it quickly filled up to the brim. They have some belly-up bar seating, as well as a bunch of booths. I could see this as being a great spot for a first date! Now the Happy Hour at the Walk In? It's something hopes & dreams & unicorns are made of! $3 beers and $5 cocktails. FIVE DOLLAR COCKTAILS. You can have the delicious Gimlet or four others on their menu for just 5 bucks. That's an unheard of deal for such delicious, well-crafted drinks. The two I tried really were full of flavor. The regular price for these drinks is just $8 which seems super cheap to me, too, with some of the more hardcore cocktails priced at $10-13. The Walkin is a chill, no frills neighborhood bar with a funky soundtrack and superb classic cocktails. Why did it take me so long to get here? With time, and whiskey therapy, I hope to find it in me to forgive myself. At the top of their drink menu they hype a Milwaukee Old Fashioned, and you could go that route, if you must, but I advise against it, especially if Coleman is your bartender. He makes a superb classic Old Fashioned, just bourbon, bitters and orange peel - none of that muddled fruit paste. Try it, you'll like it. Coleman's skills don't end at the Old Fashioned, though. He has a great Manhattan series going on. I started with the Rittenhouse Rye, as it is a superb rye for a Manhattan, and it was great - spicy and earthy. He also makes a Black Manhattan, which swaps in Averna Amaro for the vermouth. I feel like we are lost cocktail brothers, as that's one of my favorite Manhattan variations, and he knocks it out of the park. If you want to double down on bitter flavors and sideswipe sweet notes, its a great way to go. (I personally call that drink the Black Bush, in homage to Dave Chappelle's skit, so if you hear Coleman referring to it as such, I'm humbled and honored to add to the mystique of the Walkin.) If you want to go the other direction and ease off on the spicy and bitter notes of rye and Averna, go with his house Manhattan, with Redemption Bourbon. It is mellower, but still nicely complex, for Redemption, being a high rye bourbon, gives you a gentle hit of spice. Oh, what's that? You like gin? So does Kelly! Coleman will mix up a great Last Word or Aviation. He's got you covered. On our visit, the music on the speakers was mostly soul and R&B, and it was good. DJ's play there later in the evenings. A friend was in town for one night and she wanted to go to a bar. I had just showered and had my hair wrapped in a t-shirt. Did NOT want to go out. Regardless, I put on a baseball cap over my t-shirt wrap, put on real clothes and drove here (I was not going to get more than 1 drink). I knew Logan Square had a lot of cool bars so I just looked one up with good reviews and this one came up. When you come in it's dim lighting, super low key and really modern. Nice booths and seating areas, and of course the bar. The bartender was really nice. They had all the classics and also a menu of craft cocktails that were really creative. I got a chamomile collins which was really good, and my friend got a mojito. Not the best mojito I've ever had, but pretty solid. My husband joined us later and we hung out there and conversed for a while. Overall it was a great little spot with good service and diverse/trendy offerings. An interesting take on what some might consider a dive bar. It's not necessarily that but it does give you those small eclectic bars with dim lighting. It has some good patterns and cool seating. First ran into the folks from The Walk In at the Yelp Cocktail Event at Symphony Hall a couple years ago. They blew us away with their cocktail entry which ended up winning the entire competition. Friendly folks, great drinks. So we had to follow up with a visit. Well, a visit turned into many visits and you can count me in as one who will continue to come back. Some might call that being a "regular". It's not big, not much to look at, no fancy decor, just a straight up hangout place with great bartenders and superb drinks. DOG FRIENDLY BAR, yeah right! Male bartenders were great but because I'm giving this place only 3 stars is only because the female bartender that had tattoos on her right arm (above the elbow) hated us RIGHT WHEN we got in. I have a American Staffordshire Terrier and she gave us the annoyed look right when we got in. The ONE time my dog barked because she was excited to see other dogs, she asked us to tame our dog or else "they have to kick us out" when clearly there was other dogs also barking. But hey, you want to come only to us? Alright. Who your hurt you? Don't call yourself dog friendly when you're clearly having your favorites... I wish I really got your name lady, so not everyone can face the consequences of your bad hospitality. This lady didn't serve us once, when clearly you guys work as a team if a customer's tab is open all night, all this lady did was give out bad vibes and eager to have my boyfriend close out his tab on the night of 11/2/19 and to single out my dog the first 10 mins we got there. I love this spot! I recently had a small bday celebration here and we had a great time! Phillip was very responsive and helpful in helping me plan a small bday gathering. One of the best things about this spot is the happy hour from 5pm till 8pm. It's pretty much unheard of to have $5 specialty cocktails that are really good (my favorite is the Old Fashion and Strawberry Collins). Bartenders are great, booths are pretty spacious, and music is good. Also this is a dog friendly spot (inside and out), so you can bring your doggy! Big fan! I'd been here a season or so ago, and was plenty impressed then. Stopped back in last Saturday, and WHAT! It's even cooler now! Good layout, DOG FRIENDLY, great array of cocktails, darts in back (out of the way of other patrons!). What I really loved, and this was some serendipity in action - we grabbed a booth in front, near the large open windows, with chilly cocktails. Suddenly it started to POUR RAIN. I tried the gimlet and tasted the Colorado bulldog (didn't know that was a classic drink, interesting) My Gimlet was strong, really tasty. The Colorado bulldog might float your boat incase you like that sorts of milk & coffee based drinks. These drinks are usually $11-13 so half price happy hr is a great deal. I've passed by this place during later hrs and it looks transformed with DJ on fri and sat, that'll be cool to check out. First thing first, the drinks here are nothing short of OUTSTANDING! My hands down favorite was the Colorado Bulldog Vodka, coffee, coconut, half and half and cola ($12). It taste like drinking a delicious melted rootbeer float, and by no means is it too sweet. They've really worked hard on creating outstanding layered drinks and a menu that has something for everyone! Also they are all very instagramable, which doesn't hurt! It has a great trendy but casual atmosphere with bar seating and low tables by floor to ceiling windows that open all the way up so you can breath in the warm Chicago summer breeze! They don't serve food but they do have free delivery from Cafe Con Leche and Harding Tavern their two sister restaurants just across the street. We tried the pork belly skewers from Harding that were out of this world amazing! I honestly usually pork belly but these were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed some great empanadas from CCL. So don't let the no food thing deter you!! This bar is just a hop from the blue line, super convenient for an after work drink. Stopped by this place with a friend because they're a dog friendly bar, a true dog friendly bar and not just for a few hours during the day. The security guy at the front was super welcoming and brought us water for my friend's dog. We sat on the patio and had two rounds of the same cocktail, something mezcal based, and it was delicious! This is a neat bar to check out when you are in the Logan Square area. This place is connected to a liquor store, so you can enter through either the main entrance, or the liquor store when you visit. This is the type of bar you should visit if you want a standard cocktail or beer, and a non pretentious atmosphere. There was only about 10 of us in the bar around 9pm on a Friday night, but the place might get a little more crowded as the night goes on. The prices of the cocktails seem reasonable for how strong some of them are. I ordered a Sazerac, and I really had to sip slowly with this particular drink. Compared to other sazerac's I've had at other bars, I would rate the one here an 8 out of 10. The service here was attentive and smooth. read more
