Bathrooms were very pub like, nasty. We split a veggie sandwich which was $13.50... the pumpernickel was dry and crumbling, the cream cheese was barely present and veggies were minimal. This was Jans Joyride, supposedly a premium sandwich, normally I would wait to try to deli meats before judging a place, but if they don't treat the veggie sandwiches with any respect they shouldn't charge top dollar for them...boooooo. The staff was friendly and went over and above on our request for a sandwich for two people to split. The price was very reasonable. We sat on the patio and it was very nice. Now, the food....oh my! The sandwich was delicious! My husband and I thought it was one of the best sandwiches we've had. The eatery had a grad party going on. It was over the top on presentation. The sandwiches here are amazing! The ingredients and bread are always fresh. The staff is very kind. Some Of the sandwiches, such as the Wanigan wheel are two meals in one. My favorites are The Boney Joanie, and The Wanigan Wheel. The mimosa was also great and perfectly mixed. Just went Friday eve Good Friday ... Food was pretty good, service was great and entertainment was nice as well. A great setting. Issues ; Poor ventilation in the order and food prep area, the screen door that was open for fresh air is so filthy and plugged up that air can't get through it. Had to put jacket outside at home to air out from the grease fryer and clothes directly to laundry. Last falls tree pollen maybe on that screen ? Bathrooms are extremely dirty ... but not quite as bad as McDonald's of where you can write your name in the sink. Toilet has not been clean for quite a bit as there is a black water line in the bowl a one with much other unwelcoming stuff. The walls are filthy especially next to the sink , that can be washed down and definitely the door. Possibly hire a cleaning company to clean bathrooms daily or minimum 3 days a week before opening or after closing. Definitely will return for another round of good food and entertainment , but please address these areas and not be like many of the other restaurants in Bay City that have these same issues. read more

They have a huge sandwich menu but the two we got were just ok... very lightly toasted so they were barely warm & the sourdough bread was pretty meh. Not a bad option if you're passing by but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way again to try this place. read more

I was in the area for some work related training and looking for a good lunch option. I try to avoid chains and we stumbled on to The Wanigan Eatery. From the outside my coworkers were a little uncertain about my choice. Inside we were awestruck by the menu boards. Boards because there were three offering an incredible array of sandwiches. We all ordered different sandwiches which come with a pickle and chips. They have a few different options for drinks. Staff was very friendly and helpful in answering questions. This seems to be a small town eatery and I hope the locals stop in and try it. Our food was delicious and if you can't find a sandwich option that you will like you must not like sandwiches. I will say that luckily we had gotten here a few minutes ahead of the lunch rush. When it hit there were people waiting in line for a while. I'm sure it's hard to staff for a 1 hour rush. The BEST sandwiches in Mid-Michigan! Everytime I go they are super quick to get my food out, even if there's a line. During lunch time it's always packed but that must mean it's good! I love the #1, #27 and the #26, all are so so good and filling. The owner is always very friendly when I'm there and you can tell he's passionate about his business. My favourite deli in the area for sure. We spend a ton of time in NYC and I'd take this deli over any bodega in our Brooklyn neighbourhood bar none. They recently added a nice bar area and the outdoor seating has been cleaned up a bit as they transition from being a just for lunch place. I LOVE this place but to be honest it's really hit & miss... wouldn't really want to recommend based on inconsistency... seems like they've been open long enough to have their stuff together. I've had the same menu item (Adam & Eve on a Raft) several times and half of the time its good but half of the time it's just off... like bread is soggy, presentation is horrible, everything just tossed on the soggy bread... cooks just don't care type thing. Think it really just depends on who's working I guess... new bar looks nice though. read more
