Pricing was a little on the high side, but I get it that it cost money to run a place like this. Overall I don't think I would be inclined to come back.

We were having a great time until, completely out of the blue, the owner approached us and told us that if the kids broke any of the games, we would be responsible for paying for them because they are 30 years old. I completely understand wanting to protect valuable, vintage equipment. That is reasonable. What was not reasonable was the way it was communicated. There is a right way and a wrong way to address customers, especially families who are there spending money and trying to enjoy themselves. I was so uncomfortable with the interaction that I went to our server, who was incredibly kind and sweet, and told her we were going to leave and simply pay for our drinks. She even offered to have the drinks put into to-go cups. At that point, the other female owner, who was sitting at the bar, commented that the games were 30 years old and that we should "parent our kids." Excuse me? We absolutely understand the responsibility of supervising our children. What we did not expect was to be spoken to in that manner by the owners of an establishment we were patronizing. As someone who was also raised in the hospitality industry, I understand that protecting your business and your property is important. But hospitality is also about how you communicate with your customers. A simple, friendly, "Hey guys, just a heads up--these games are vintage and we ask that the kids please be careful with them" would have accomplished the exact same thing without making your customers feel unwelcome or insulted. We came in excited to introduce our out-of-town friends and their kids to your establishment. Instead, we left embarrassed and disappointed. The food may be great, but unfortunately, great food doesn't make up for making your customers feel unwelcome. I sincerely hope this is something the owners take to heart, because there was a much better way to handle this situation.

We were visiting Sanford for Founder's Day and I suggested Alex's Railside. No longer in Sanford due to the flood 5 years ago. Now in the Midland Mall and is easy to locate. Wonderful soup and salad bar although the soup was slightly too salty. We both had the lasagna special recommended by our friendly waitress. Way too much food which will make for a meal or two at home. Glad we stopped at a family restaurant and not a corporate place that doesn't support the local community. Give it a try when in the area and ask waitress for suggestions. She won't steer you wrong. read more

Menu is great with many options from appetizers to desserts. Love they also have small portions available - which were still plenty large! The liver and onions were the best I've had in years, as was the brownie and ice cream! Service was fantastic - the owner was super cordial and fun, and our waitress was the best.
