Everything I've ever ordered has ranged from very good to excellent. Oysters always fresh, cocktails excellent (try the blood orange cosmo) and banging burgers. Love the ambiance of both the tavern and riverside. Music in the tavern on Thursdays is always a pleasure. Great outdoor dining at the grill with music, sometimes karaoke, games etc. Both good service and value IMO.

Been here a couple of times. Always friendly and love dogs. The food and drinks are great and the view is amazing. The weather plays a huge pArt in this place because it's all outside. But go and love it. I know you will

Pathetic. A double smash burger should be easy. Not sure how they came up with the soggy mess they served me. Nasty greasy mostly burnt fries like they gave us what they cleaned out of the frier from last night. Mushy cold shaved prime rib slider with lukewarm au jus. The waitress had to go back to the bar to get some more martini to finish filling the glass. The free oyster that came with the martini apparently needed a vinegar douche for some reason. A little scary, definitely not remotely tasty. I won't even go into how bad the waitress was.

Enjoyed a lovely, summer evening by the river, under the gently swaying willows. We each had a delicious and summery vodka Collins and shared an app of steamed clams. The clams were tender and in a tasty, garlicky broth that we sipped up greedily with toasted bread rounds. Yum! I had the Smashburger single with side of potato salad. He had the Smashburger double with beans. Delicious. They came dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and delicious sauce of their own. Perfect.

Wall hanging.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside. At first, there appears to be only a small parking lot in front. However, there's a large larger parking lot in the back. The entire staff warmly greets you upon check-in. I asked how the name The Wick came about. We were informed that this facility had been an old candle factory. Throughout the hotel, there's silver plated plaques on the candle making machines. Our room was nice and clean. More than enough towels for a one night stay. A sweet welcoming note was left on the dresser along with a mini bag of Tate's chocolate chip cookies. The beds were clean and comfortable. The hotel does have a small bar and dining room for breakfast lunch and dinner. Nothing fancy. We did have a lite dinner the first evening we arrived. The food was pretty good. The vegetable egg rolls were really tasty. The Caesar salad could've done without the anchovies. The anchovy taste lingered too long. I had a side grilled chicken with the salad. All the employees make you feel welcome and are very helpful. The hotel is within, walking distance of the local train and eateries. As we checked out, Abby was a big help filling the plastic container with their Wick logo with lemon water and ice. Definitely would return.

While a cool venue in an artsy town that is a fun and easy destination for guests, our experience…read morewith the planning team was completely horrible. They were hands down the most unprofessional event planning team I have ever experienced. All smiles and good wishes on the onset, but 'oh-so-busy-all-the-time' thereafter. Expect unreturned emails and phone calls, petty upsells, strategic disorganization, no vision, some rudeness and a lot of weird math. After about the umpteenth 'now what' it sadly felt like this small-minded, sidewinder approach was what they thought was smart business.

BRIDES BEWARE: Hidden Fees, and unprofessional coordinator Parker…read more Renting the basilica for your wedding is very expensive, $13k expensive, but what they don't disclose is that $13k is just the start of the fees they will randomly hit you with. If you're like me and money is valuable to you, then please keep reading before you book. Here is a *short* list of all the ways Parker at Basilica scams you: -1) First contract included a caveat that IF basilica gets a liquor license within 6 months you must pay them and undisclosed amount for alcohol. Parker refused to give us an amount to budget for this secret clause. -2) Next issue was when Parker rented out the Friday of our wedding without telling us the amount we would receive back. She promised us we'd "split" the cost which would mean $6k, but in reality we only received $2k back, and the Friday bride still paid the full amount. When we said no, we were told it's too late to go back and she wouldn't even issue us a new contract detailing out the change because she didn't have time. At this point we knew our contract meant nothing. -3) Third issue was when we wanted to bring in all our own rentals, including lights, since of course the lights are extra. Parker told us it would cost us a fee to remove the lights, and that we had to pay to rent the lights from her. -4) Fourth issue was after we just gave in to paying for lights that we couldn't take down, we decided to add on tables. We originally ordered 20 to be safe but we got our final count and only needed 15. Parker told us we couldn't change the tables because the Friday bride needed more. -5) One week before our wedding, we were then told we owed tax on the rentals for the lights and table rentals, even after we had her confirm there were no more incremental hidden fees. -6) Lastly our "refundable" security deposit apparently contains a $400 non-refundable cleaning fee which we also found out days before the wedding. I pray that the Basilica hires a new, professional coordinator so no other couple has to go what we went through. Good luck!!

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable. We arrived after dark, with the entire property lit up by bistro lights strung through the woods. Our cabin was spotless, warm, cozy and exactly what we were looking for in our quest for an "un-plugged" weekend surrounded by nature (with the conveniences of running water, heat, and electricity). Management was attentive - out of sight, but ever present and accessible immediately through a quick text. Friday and Saturday nights, they have a bonfire going, with all of the ingredients required for s'more roasting neatly arranged in individual paper bags, next to wooden dowels, and brilliantly, hand wipes for sticky hands. While my husband is a camper, I am most certainly NOT, and I found this experience to be the perfect compromise for both of us. The enormous picture window in the cabin looked out to the woods. It was such a treat to wake up to the pastel colored sky through the trees as the sun rose, and then, after a full day of exploring the area and having a fantastic meal in downtown Hudson, it was lovely to unwind in nature.
