This place immediately gives you all the vibes when you drive up to it as it's an old cottage transformed into a coffee shop. I had an espresso with the mango melt with spiced mango jam, roasted green chilies, and brie with a side of fresh seasoned cucumber, and also ordered the vegan green chili- delicious! Staff is so nice and welcoming. I ordered the Denver turkey with some changes and pretzels. It's made right in front of you no kitchen here! All fresh ingredients lettuce turkey avocado dressing pickled onions and provolone cheese. Yummy and the perfect portion! House coffee is hot and I was told it was one free refill upon ordering! 12.68 for all of it including tip. Staff upon seeing that I left a google review stating that they no longer had WiFi became upset and asked us to leave. Very odd response to an honest review. Staff that confronted us was combative and confrontational about being left a review. Just wanted others to know that there is no WiFi before visiting. Minus three starts for no WiFi and odd behavior by staff. Staff argued with me that this was clearly posted on their website, I went back and checked and still do not see that posted anywhere let alone clearly. I did find it on their Instagram, however checking an business's Instagram before going is not the norm. They did have signs inside, but NOTHING online which would be nice for patrons to know before going as WiFi is the norm for coffee houses in this day and age. "I really love this place, However they got rid of the wifi. When asked why they said for Covid reasons. If you are coming here just know there is NO WIFI ANYMORE. Very inconvenient. Drinks are great, food is good and atmosphere is cozy. I just have never heard of a coffee shop getting rid of their wifi... Definitely cool vibes here! It's got all the good coffee shop feels here with lots of seating options to enjoy your beverage. I had the Bhakti chai which was pretty good. The presentation is great and in one of their great mugs. They have a decent drinks menu and also some sweet and savoury eats to choose from if you're feeling hungry. There was quite a few people sitting and working on their laptops so the WiFi must be good and they have cozy chairs to sit and read a book. read more

PARKING -- It was pretty easy to find street parking during a weekday. I had to park a few blocks away but no big deal. SERVICE -- All of the staff were incredibly friendly to me. I've found that coffee shops can really be hit or miss with service but I felt very at ease here. The whole ambiance is cozy and inclusive. I love that they have a noisy area (downstairs) and a quieter area (upstairs). I also love that tables have a no laptop policy so people can cycle through and not camp out all day. FOOD -- I ordered their specialty latte (Happy Camper) and the matcha chia pudding. Prices were what I'd expect and my latte was filled to the brim. It was sweet but very tasty. I loved the chia pudding. The toasted coconut on top was a nice crunch to an otherwise mushy dish. I wish I had noticed their pastries beforehand. They all looked delicious. I've stopped by here a handful of times - to meet up with people, to study or just grab a quick cup of coffee. I've had different experiences each time but overall positive: 1. Coffee is pretty standard with 1 refill I believe. Nothing special but gets the job done 2. Location is pretty central to restaurants/bars/stuff to do around. Lots of parking on side streets. 3. My fav part: atmosphere is cool, neat upstairs and basically built out of a house. The study vibe/work area is kind of weird and limited. Not super structured but if you want to study on the second floor of a house out looking the street this is the place. The upstairs is great for getting work done and I love the selection of food for breakfast and lunch. I've also bought a few super cute home goods from them (Mexican blanket and fun enamel mugs). They were super quick to get their socially distant online ordering all set up for quarantine. Is it okay to say "this is my favorite coffee shop in Denver" when you've only lived in Denver for one and a half days? Sure! Of course I know I'll discover and love many a coffee shop -- and The Weathervane Cafe is definitely more than JUST a coffee shop -- but whatever you want to call it, it's the kind of place I walked into and immediately adored. Weathervane is tiny, charming, and whimsical. It's warm and cozy and curious. They have a fairly comprehensive menu for being such a teeny place -- different kinds of fancy-sounding oatmeals, granola, both breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soup, hummus, chocolate pudding? Yes, chocolate pudding and carrot cake and sourdough pretzels and an assortment of baked goods. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options and relatively healthy choices all around. I haven't even mentioned the beverages yet. OH, the drinks of plenty! Craft coffee (local milk and honey if you want), house made syrups like orange clove, vanilla bean, anise, and lavender to add to your brew or turn into an Italian soda, hot tea, locally made sodas, carrot or orange juice, rooibos lattes... a really nice list and the prices are right. Everything is pretty much between $2.15 and $3.50 for your 8, 12, or 16 ounce pours. Thank you, Weathervane. For lunch I had the Ham & Berry Chevre sandwich on gluten free bread for $7.50, and it was spectacular. One good sized sammy grilled and split into two halves. The cranberry cinnamon goat cheese and lemon thyme aioli combined for the most decadent, flavorful, memorable bites. I ate the entire thing and wanted more. Good thing your sandwich comes with a side of sliced cucumbers (seasoned with pepper and dill) or sourdough pretzels. I had the cucs of course, and they were crisp and bright and lovely. CANNOT WAIT to return. With the complimentary wifi, I foresee many a morning and afternoon lounging at The Weathervane Cafe, enjoying the unique mismatched decor and deciding which little artsy, locally made trinket I'd like to buy from their gift shop. read more

This is such a super cute cafe. It reminds me so much of a place you would find in Portland, which is right up my alley. My husband and I each had a sandwich, I had the ham and berry sandwich. I never eat ham, and frankly the work just grosses me out, but reading the description of this sandwich, I just couldn't resist. And it was so good! The ham paired with goat cheese and cinnamon cranberries all squeezed together on a panini press was delish!! So yummy!! And I loved the cucumbers instead of chips. It was a perfect lunch. I enjoyed a hot green tea with it. My husband had the Italian turkey which he loved. I tried a bite and indeed, it was quite Italian. The salami really gave what would be an ordinary turkey sandwich a punch. He appreciated pretzels instead of chips too and he also enjoyed a hot tea. Weathervane is nearby my work, I'm going to have to see if they are open early because I'm thinking this would be a great place to stop by on the way home just to gather some thoughts and fill the belly. At first blush, the Weathervane Cafe is an eclectic gem in an unassuming carriage house in uptown Denver, replete with repurposed vintage decor evoking a cozy, intimate vibe. But underneath this surface level first impression, replicated in dozens of hipster locales from Brooklyn to Ojai, is a deeply rooted hospitality, integrity, and passion for good food, strong coffee, and vibrant conversation. Owners Lindsay and Alex Dalton have created a unique diamond in the rough by truly caring about the neighborhood, their clientele, and how and where they source their products and ingredients (almost all from within Colorado). Perusing their wide array of quirky greeting cards, artisanal jams and spreads, and natural herbal tinctures, whilst sipping my cold pressed coffee, I was struck by the honesty of their entrepreneurial integrity. In New York, even the small, individually owned coffee joints have a feeling of pomposity and disingenuous kitschiness due to the astronomical price for a cup of joe, necessary to pay the rent. But at The Weathervane, the price is great, the coffee delicious, and the vibe genuine. My culinary choices on the trip thus far had been bland, fried, and dietarily questionable, but that all changed when I bit into the most delicious strawberry/rhubarb scone that I have ever had the pleasure to experience. I chased the scone with their breakfast burrito, filled with hash browns, egg, and pepper jack, all perfectly folded into a soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside tortilla wrap. Topped with homemade salsa, this mouth orgasm reminded me that the antidote to the malaise of truck stop fare was easily and heartily remedied with a dose of home cooking, where fresh ingredients matter, and the main one is love. Though it was an all too quick stopover, it was absolutely vital in reinvigorating my excitement to get back on the road for the final third of my voyage. No longer dreading the next, inevitable truck stop pit stop, I said a final farewell to the friendly staff, got a hug from owner Lindsay, and walked to my car satisfied and sated, not just in my stomach, but in my heart.
