My first time coming here was in 2017 I had bought pack bundles and a closure from the beauty supply, I just need a quick style to last me a while. They did my hair and the idiot whoever it was had my track showing as a PART! UGH I was livid never went back. I was desperate this time and decided to try again, I came in with my son and was told immediately he couldn't be there. I was annoyed since I had called earlier and would've appreciated a heads up. But alas, I came back and got my hair done. I had braids already in and thought they could just go straight to sewing in but they weren't the right type for a closure. So I was charged for taking out the braids, washing my hair and re-braiding. THEY CHARGE FOR EVERYTHING! If they could charge you for breathing they just might. They were about to charge $20 for using already used hair and I almost lost it ;( but the receptionist was nice enough to actually waive that fee. Now my hair came out great I believe her name was Toya who did it. The braider a slim white or Hispanic girl made me apprehensive. As a natural of 10 years I had to ask was she well versed in combing black ppl hair. But she said she was and did a great job of washing, combing and braiding. Normally I don't have any issues here... Today I arrived with an appointment. I was the only client so I was immediately braided. I then waited over an hour for a stylist to begin my hair. Why? Because there were only two stylist working. One went home early and didn't clear it with the manager who thought the stylist was still present in the shop(she called the stylist and found out she has left early for the day). The second, now frustrated that she had to pick up the slack, went on a break and left. Since my hair was already braided I had no choice but to sit and wait for her return... I went there last weekend and the service was great. The braider braided my hair neat and tight enough where it can stay for a while. The wait was not long either the store opens at 9am I got there at 10am there were 3 people in front of me but I didnt wait long at all. The stylist called my name and I was already in the chair getting the weave done. My stylist, I forgot her name lol but she recommended great products to use for a brazilian hair weave and she did not let me leave the chair until it looked perfect. It didn't take long for the sewing to get done either probably because my head is small lol. I had a good experience there, the staff were friendly and the other customers were nice as well. Now for the product...The style was too tight, so I voiced this concern and got an apology, but it didn't seem to change much. I was going away the next day and I was stuck in a bind now. I took the style out after 1 week, as soon as I returned. I have bumps at the hairline from the tension and my scalp is sore. I don't wear sew ins often, but I've worn them enough to know that this isn't good. It's never happened to me before. I fell in love with the hairstyle, the fact that snacks were offered, and the stylist made me feel comfortable. They seem to be better with styles that require hair to be left out, so do that if you do go to them. Issues: (1.) The hair braider didn't braid my hair as needed for the style I showed her. (2.) A few people at different occasions pointed out that my track was showing, I can now see it too. (3.) The workers are unprofessional. They talked badly about customers with no regard to the customers around which was uncomfortable. (4.) Spent $110 for a sew-in that I will take out after 3 weeks because my hair was braided so far from the nape of my neck that it is coming out. "So sad!" I always am excited to try places and give them great reviews, so I don't like that I had to write this type of a review, but helping people not make a mistake is a good thing to do. This used to be one of my favorite places. I usual frequent the shop 3 to 4 times a year and for the most part I he service has usually been professional and amicable. However, very recently I had some health complications, which I shared with my stylist, that caused me to have to return to have my new install uninstalled and reinstalled 3 days later to accommodate a recent eye surgery. I was not afforded any empathy and was charged full price for my troubles. I could hardly afford it but made arrangements to do it. Yet, I was met with a very unprofessional receptionist who felt the need to share my financial situation with the entire salon. I was embarrassed and upset but not allowed the opportunity to speak with the owner. I will not be back because I do not think I was treated professionally at all. I looked up a place on the net and this place came up( The Weave Shop) I should've looked into them more because I was soooooo unhappy with the final look! My hair was a little on the long side, so the braids underneath were way to tight, they tucked them under so I had this lump under the hair the glued and sewed in! Everyone thought it was a wig! I used to go to the Bloomfield location twice a year to get a sew in as a protective style. Long story short, I got one done here and had to take it out 3 days later. It was wayyyyy to tight. It also wasn't done properly to style. I wore a hoodie the entire time i had it in because it was lumpy. My hairline now has bumps from the tension and my scalp is sore. This is the most uncomfortable sew-in I've ever had. I had a headache the entire time i had it in. The stylists don't seem to take your real hair or scalp health into account when sewing in the weave. Idk about you, but that is an expectation of mine from a hair care professional. If I would have left it in for the month I planned on keeping it for, I'm sure all my edges would be gone. read more

First she cut her fingers trying to remove my sew in and bled in my hair, then she half washed my hair (two barely scrubs after months of a sew in) and left my hair half dry after the blow out. Then she attempted to pawn me off to another person to get my hair flat ironed...No Ms...you complete the service. I waited 1.5 hours for the shittiest service I could ever receive. My hair is still wet and full of old oils. After flushing my money down the toilet, I still have to either pay someone else for a duplicate service or do it myself. What a waste of my time and money. I have been here many times. Connie and Alisa are amazing. They have yet to disappoint. To be honest many of the stylist has touched my hair, sometimes just ok service. But Alsia and Connie are always outstanding. Very detailed. Alisa has done amazing Bob's for me but beware she sews tight lol but you don't have to worry about your tracks coming out. Ive went to this salon maybe 4 times & have tried a different stylist each time, they were all great! And the oil they put in my hair after I'm braided up makes my hair grow so fast idk how or why. I went here for a weave yesterday specifically to get the braidless sew-in. I have very fine hair, so as this technique has no braids, together with the way they sew the weft into the hair, it lays extremely flat, no lumps and bumps! I had 2 packs of 18" hair sewn in, it took around 2 hours I guess, which included a trim and some really pretty curls. It is a little more expensive than a regular weave, but for me, the results are well worth it and the cost in my opinion is still very reasonable compared to what other salons charge for hair extensions.I am very happy to have found this salon, I have been searching for a while to find a salon with skilled stylists, and will definitely be returning. My stylist was Connie, she was sweet, polite and knowledgeable and did an awesome job. The whole salon is beautiful, clean, fresh look, with a very professional image. I like that they have you fill out your information to keep on file for next time, including a space for the stylist to make notes on your hair for each visit. read more

Okay. I am not one to write negative reviews on yelp but this time, I had to. This was my first time ever getting a weave so I thought that I should try this place out since I can get a weave done for only $50. When I walked in, I was nervous since I did not know what to expect but the lady at the front was kind. The stylists at the salon shocked me. The lady who braided my hair did not say hello or anything which I thought was weird but I did not get annoyed. They sent me to go sit in the waiting area and that was when my stylist called me in to sew in my extensions. Now, I do not like using names but i'm sorry, I have to. My stylist (Conchitta) was extremely rude to me and did NOT make me feel comfortable at all. She also did not greet me or smiled at me or anything. She sat me down and just gave me attitude the whole time. She rushed while doing my hair and conversing with other employees speaking so inappropriately it made me feel like I was in a really trashy place. When she was done, she did not even let me know or anything. Usually when a stylist is finished with your hair she will turn you back around so that your facing the mirror but she did not. I was appalled and will definitely NOT be going back. When I got home, I took a more thorough look at my hair and hated how bulky it looked. I had my mother remove the hair out the very NEXT day. I honestly had the worst first weave experience and it will probably be the last time getting one. Now, I'm not sure about the other stylist but I don't think I would recommend this place to anyone. By far the worst hair experience ive ever had in my life. 45 minutes into getting my hair braided (3 braids in I cant make this up) while the stylist huffed and puffed she disappeared to bring out another stylist to do my hair nothing explained to me but I'm sitting there overhearing them talk about my hair being too soft and my braids unraveling. At this point should have gotten out of there as it was clear they were not used to my type of hair. As a tattoo artist I wont tattoo something I'm not CONFIDENT I can do or that wont look good on a client but clearly this was not an issue for them at all. Now I get seated to start my weave instillation. 3 bundles "I used it all " as if that was a good thing. I tipped the girl and left when I got homeee to realize I look like a complete troll the top of my hair was beyond crazy its like she put all 3 bundles exactly on the top of my head. the right side of my head was lifted not even secure at all. I had to remove the crap myself the same day. Ive never been so upset in my life. The hair braider was a doll. Very understanding I asked for my braids to not be extremely tight and she did them perfectly. Great fast service. Just not a fan of all the extra fees. If you want smaller braids $10 if you have wefts that are cut an extra $25 if you want your weave with a net its $$$$$$. But when getting your hair done you have to pay for what you want. read more

Made an appointment with the $50 weave shop about a month ago my appointment was for today March 25th in a couple hours before my appointment I was called and told that they may have to cancel because they have an emergency and if I can make it for tomorrow I told him I wasn't able to do that because I was leaving the country and today was my only day I was in till I'll be called back I was call back and greatly discourage not to come in I was told because they only had one girl instead of 2 and they'll be several people waiting I told him I had no choice but to wait and the woman continued to discourage me against even though I told her I had I'm very important gagement and I need my hair done for at the end of the conversation she sound very disappointed and did a conversation with over or just have to wait you'll be in here for a long time I think that was very unprofessional... I am new to New Jersey, and being new to the state I have had trouble finding a stylist, so I decided to go to the $50 weave shop. There was only on stylist and one braider. The person who was braiding hair was watching t.v most of the time and braids low, I guess "The Parker's" show was more amusing. Also, the braider's attire was unprofessional. The crack of her ass was showing the entire day and she had a hole on the butt of her pant that had a safety pen holding it together. Tacky!! I must say what is advertised is not what you get! They charge for everything!!!! Wash and condition your hair before you come. This was my first experience with this establishment and I waited nearly two hours or more just to get seen. Finally I asked the receptionist if there were going to be any other stylist coming in and she said yes they are running late. She never informed the clients waiting in the shop. With that being said there was one stylist and FIVE clients waiting. Another, 20 mins went by and no other stylist came in, so I told the receptionist that I was going to leave she said that she is going to call the owner. The owner said to wait another 5 minutes because the stylist should be there. 10 min later they arrived! Mind you there are still clients ahead of me, so I still had to wait. When I finally got seen I has a lace frontal. The girl said that she had to sew it down I was like okay because I thought it was a method to keep the frontal on better. ---I got the platinum package with and closure, which is $95 and $25. While getting my hair down 4 different people came into the shop with problems with their hair that they just got done. All of them had to get something fixed... These stylist are not experienced and do not know what they are doing. The only stylist who seemed to know what she was doing was a girl named Connie! So if you go to hillside link up with her. Back to me, so when my hair was done my lace frontal did not even look like a lace frontal it look tacky! I told the stylist that I did not like my hair. She advised me that she will be right back. She called that lead stylist who advised that they do not glue lace fronts in that location but I can go to the Bloomfield location to get my hair fixed. I was upset because if I did not say anything they would have let me walk out looking a mess and I did not appreciate that.. I said that I wanted my hair done over because I did not like it, so I wanted the silver package. The stylist did my hair over and now it looks better! The only problem is that they charged me for everything that I got done the Platinum package, closure, and the silver. I did not want to start a fuss in the location, but when I got home I thought about it and I think what they did was messed up and bad business! I would have been a good client and would have brought them more business, but my experience sucked. The next day I called to speak with the owner to give feedback on my experience and the receptionist advise me that he left and will not be back until next week and I will get a call then because he only comes on Monday's. WHAT?! he only comes on Monday's, but cannot call a customer back that is crazy to me and poor customer service....Going forward my advice is not to go to the hillside location unless you have an appointment with Connie and just go with the silver package. they do not know how to do closures or frontals. the rest of the stylist are not experienced and they need some additional help. read more

This review is actually for the Watchung Facility on route 22. The salon is never busy and I understand why. They appear to only have one stylist who knows what she is doing. I recently went and had to tell the stylist to wash my hair. She didn't use any conditioner so my hair tangled. When I asked if they had conditioner she said No. what hair salon doesn't have conditioner???? She then proceeds to braid my hair partially damp. I then mention I have a hump in my head and she says it will get flat as your weave gets old. Why didn't someone else do my hair you ask??? They had a trainee who was suppose to follow someone else but she made it there before any other stylist. Lord knows if she had to follow the one doing my hair that would have been awful!! The counter clerk ask was I satisfied when I was leaving. Give me a break. She has to be related to someone because usually when you tell the counter manager the person didn't even use conditioner which she later said they do have conditioner they would go address the stylist. I would never return to this place. I went in on Saturday which is there walk in days. When I signed i they said 45 minute wait and I ended up being there for 7 hours. None of the girls wanted to do my hair maybe because I am caucasion. I am a cancer patient and my hair has grown back in short and I wanted to get a full weave. This was very important to me and it ended being a horrible experince. First they saif they could not do my hair that I had to get glue. Then come to find out the only reason this was said was because no one wanted to braid my hair. Thankfully one young lady said she would do it and she did. then I had to wait about another hour for stylist. At that point I wanted anyone to do it and the owner had the nerve to tell me he is the one who determines who I sit with and I will only sit with her. I have never had anyone obliagte me to sit with the stylist of their preference. I was never offered an appology by him or his wife for all the confusion and lack of profesionalism even after explaining my medical condition and how important this was for me, I felt totally singled out because of my race and discriminated against. New customer first time and Horrible customer service experience in Hillside, NJ. The RECEPTIONIST (young and obviously inexperienced) called me on cell phone at 4:47pm to ask if I was coming on time for my 5:00 pm appt and 6pm appt for my daughter. I explained to her I was in traffic but already on route. She said I can only give you until 5:15. I agreed and tried to push through all the work traffic. Mind you I am coming from Basking Ridge where I work going to North Plainfield to pick up my daughter rushing over to Hillside NJ. I am a new customer and I tip very well....I get there at exactly 5:20 and the receptionist says your cancelled too late. I explained to her that I told her on the phone I was in traffic. She would not look at me in the eye and I could hardly hear what she was saying. Pay attention to the time line it's very important. We got there at 5:20pm, at 5:38 a girl comes out from the back to braid up my daughter by 5:45/50 she was done. It only took her 15mns. Then my daughter came back to with me while we waited for the stylist. The stylist took her at 6:07 and was finished at 6:38pm. This was the 6pm appointment. The one part that got me the most was the smirk on the receptionist face when she told me no I was cancelled. She was not even helpful in educating me about the services and hours. No where did I see this 15mn grace period in the store policy either!!! This is why most establishments fail, due to the incredible lack of service and accommodating customers!!! I could see if I was a repeat offender but this was my first time and first impressions last a LIFETIME!! read more

I went to the shop for a silk press, as I did before and Bre did my hair, and it was fabulous for an entire month (sad I know) I didn't want to get it done again because it looked and felt so good. I'm on week 4 and it looked like a fresh silk press. I went again recently (April 2016) and got Nikki, I told the receptionist that I will come back another day because she wasn't sure who could do a silk press. (Before she washed my hair I had her look and feel it, she said wow your hair is nice, can't believe it was an entire month.) She insist that I stay and get nikki to do my hair. Well that was a lesson learn. She didn't even wash my hair good, I still had oil and gump on my scalp. She blow dried it, however it was still wet, and she really flat ironed it still. (I said really who does that) I was done in 45 minutes. Wash, blow and flat ironed. My hair was really frizzy. I just walked out... I was so disappointed. NEVER AGAIN, only Bre will touch my hair from now on. read more
