Located in the heart of Pittsburgh, easy access from all directions. Car service with a "governor's driveway" in front for door to door service. Like tiling out a red carpet for you. The lobby is beautiful!! Staff is amazing, even better service than I expected. The meeting rooms are like ballrooms. Everything was spotless!! Bill's Bar & Burgers, is a Landry's Select Club Restaurant inside the hotel which makes it a more comfortable spot when winding down after work with a nice Happy Hour menu. Friendly and accommodating staff there as well! While visiting downtown the Cultural District and the Strip District are within walking distance as well as bridges to the North Shore. They sent someone and it seemed to get a little better (70s instead of 60s?) . But still cold. They offered to change my room but it was 11:30pm and I was leaving the next day. Super disappointed. I requested the engineer return. Waited and waited. I also requested additional blankets. When I went to check out, my key did not work. Went down to front desk. He gave me a new key. Went back up. Key didn't work. Maid felt sorry for me seeing me twice trying to get into my room and let me in. Door was set to open so I had to pee with the door basically open. Got my stuff and checked out. Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. Very clean, friendly staff and the gym is wonderful. The bar and Grill in the lobby is good and open late. The standard rooms are basic but everything else is high quality. I had to order room service one night for dinner during a really bad snowstorm and it was delicious. The arugula and ancient grain salad was fantastic and I love the charred vegetables. The Caesar salad was basic which is fine and the cauliflower kimchi fried rice wasn't too shabby. The full portion of the fried rice is massive. It must've weighed like a pound and a half. I ordered the full portion for all of these and the total came to $55 with the tip. read more

Arrived late and couldn't get into the hotel. They have a phone by the door to use and no one answered it. Really? Workers dressed very unprofessionally /!; also had no clue with how the parking worked (and valet was not available). Garage is horrid. Takes so long to get in and out with circular ramps up and down. Hard to see where you are going due to the steep angles and design. Costs to park there are for every time you enter / leave. It is not a daily rate where you can go in and out as many times as you want. Room was dated and was not at what I would say as the "Westin standard". No real chargers by the bed. My room was comfortable and clean. The staff was great! Very helpful and friendly. My only ding on this hotel was the very confusing layout of the public areas. I didn't realize where the breakfast restaurant was even located until I had been there a day or two. And then there's the little mini mall attached that I discovered on day 3. Location was great since I was there for a conference next door and learned about the skybridge on day 2. And I love that the neighborhood was very walkable. I don't even know how to describe this trainwreck of an experience. Reception desk and on call shift manager seem to lack basic communication skills or ability to string a sentence together. Moldy bathrooms, leaky faucets, rattling AC. But just wait, it gets better - nothing tops off this quite like getting stuck in an elevator and being pulled out by the fire dept after several attempts to have a conversation with whoever answered the elevator call button with a distinct "I didn't want to be bothered" tone and absolutely lack of empathy. The gym here is one of the best I've seen in a hotel, with a full TRX room and plenty of machines (just missing a StairMaster to make it perfect). The Westin's big selling point is its location. Attached to a Skybridge to the convention center and very walkable to hundreds of restaurants and attractions, it really gives you a prime location. The rooms feel dated and parking is expensive/aggravating (but it's downtown, so y'know), but as long as I wasn't paying premium prices, I'd stay again. NOTES: -This is in the middle of downtown. Expect traffic and parking to be a nightmare. -Most of this area is set up for the courthouse and 9-to-5 weekday workers. Many businesses are closed Saturday and Sunday, so check before you pop in. -I wasn't super comfortable walking in the area at night. There are cops patrolling pretty constantly (as we watched them out the window) in addition. -The lobby bathroom (which I attempted to use before we headed out) is only usable by room key and also shares its space with the nearby restaurant. PROS: -The lobby is gorgeous. Multiple-story windows, greenery, and tons of natural light - despite being in the middle of downtown. The rooms are modern enough though nowhere near the level of detail that was paid to the lobby. -Room was acceptable. There were large stains on the carpet, and the carpet/floor had a lot more particulate and hair on it than I would have preferred. But nothing concerning in the bathroom or bed. For being in a downtown, it has quite a bit of space (including in the bathroom) which is usually one of my biggest worries in large city downtown hotels. -Attached to Bill's Bars and Burgers which is open until midnight and has much lower prices than your average hotel restaurant. A+ for late travelers or someone who wants a midnight snack. -Attached to a Skywalk to the conference center - though we haven't figured out the most efficient way to get from the Skywalk to most of the conference center. It existed, though, and would have kept us dry in the rain. -Attached to a small interior hallway that leads to quite a few small businesses designed for lunchtime grab-and-go and weekday workers. It also leads to a Starbucks without having to go outside. CONS: -No easy-access outlets by the bed. The room is nice-r and looks like it's been remodeled within the past ten years, so it's surprising that there's nothing. We had to dig behind the mattress to find one that would work for the bedside table. -Self-park is noticeably more expensive than surrounding lots BUT I'll also say that parking in this area is a nightmare and pretty difficult. It was convenient to have parking right on-site (didn't even have to get back onto the road to get to their dedicated lot). We had zero issues with break-ins or damage to the vehicle. However, you don't have in/out privileges, so only utilize this self-park if you plan to leave your car there for awhile. If not, you're likely better off temporarily parking in nearby paid lot to fetch the car for the savings. -Not super fond of the valet service that Westin has hired to do their valet. They seemed pretty annoyed with every interaction I had with them. They weren't thrilled that I wanted a luggage cart, and I received multiple reminders to "please use the revolving doors". -Walls were thinner in the rooms than I would have liked. I was very aware someone next door was sick and kept having coughing fits. I could easily hear all of the hallway traffic through the door. read more

After leaving the Westin in Cleveland and coming here, we saw a significant difference. I love the lobby and all the seating they have available. In addition the hotel is located in a great area. Our room got upgraded but it did appear smaller, the bathroom was for sure smaller, and outdated compared to our room at the Cleveland location but it was cleaner and we had a smart TV. The gym was very big and they have Peloton bikes and lots of equipment. Customer service mixed. The front desk staff was helpful but the staff working around the gym just stared at us as if we were lost. I had to talk to him in order for him to speak. It was very weird. I had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Westin in Pittsburgh and it deserves every bit of a five star review. From the moment I arrived the experience felt polished comfortable and genuinely welcoming. The fitness center is well equipped and the common areas are calm and inviting which makes the entire property feel like a true escape even in the middle of the city. What really sets this hotel apart though is the customer service. The staff are outstanding. Every single person I interacted with was attentive professional and genuinely kind. Any request or question was handled quickly and efficiently and you could tell they truly care about making your stay a great one. It is rare to find service that feels both polished and personal but The Westin absolutely delivers on that. The views are another highlight. The hotel location is nice and close to convention center The gym was excellent Bad experience checking in - while the front desk agent was kind, he did not confirm check out dates even if after I told I was checking out on Tuesday. The reservation also did not appear on my Mariott convoy account as it was booked separately though I ended up getting the number added. I found out while checking out I had one more day to stay and their account team has been very difficult to deal with. I have to go back to Mariott bonvoy to even get any response. The team does not pick up calls either. Lot of plumbing issues - always hear bathrooms flushing, checked in walked out and came back to an overflowing toilet which was quickly cleaned up by the maintenance crew. Also had another time when I had not used the bathroom but saw that bathroom had clogged but luckily went away with flushing. Very outdated. read more

Outdated and old! I will not be staying here again. They need to rip out the moldy old carpet and renovate everything. I'm shocked that this is a Westin because they are usually nice, but not this one! The only thing that looked nice was the lobby. Everything else was awful. Even the breakfast was bad. They told me with my titanium elite status I only get the cold breakfast, if I want anything hot then there's a $4 surcharge. I was disappointed because every other BonVoy hotel I have stayed at always provides a very nice breakfast and takes care of their elite members. I keep reading people are complaint that the hotel is old and dated. Look Pittsburgh is an old and dated city. The hotel itself was very clean and perfect if you're attending a conference as there is a breezeway that connects the hotel/conference center. Check in was easy, elevators are efficient. Location is perfect and can walk to multiple areas. There is no need for a rental car in my opinion. We walked most places that were without a mile and took Ubers to places that were over 2 miles away. Really convenient location with lots of dining:bar options nearby. read more

Some disappointing aspects with the customer relations. The hotel is a nice hotel. The rooms are a little old, but the bed is super comfortable, although it looks a little messy when you enter the room! When I checked in, I was not greeted as an elite titanium member even though I use the Bonvoy elite line. The gentleman that checked me in could not provide us with connecting rooms, although I did request that prior to our arrival! I had to ask upon check-in about the breakfast that we are entitled to and I was told that it is only a continental breakfast because they are a convention hotel, which is not listed on the website as if it's a Westin but a convention hotel you don't get the full breakfast ? That is nowhere listed on the titanium benefits.! The elevators, although very modern for floor selection, do not give you the option to choose which elevators you want to go in it assigns you an elevator once you select your floor on the outside of the elevators -so when 10 people pack in the same elevator with you and normally you could get out and go to an other elevator that has nobody in it, this hotel does not have the option so you have to stop at every floor- The parking garage for self Park is two levels down, and if you're not a spatial Relations specialist, good luck getting into those parking spaces ! Overall, very disappointing I would not stay at this hotel again. One of the other major issues I had was the rooms provide two bottles of water that are in aluminum reusable containers. If you need another bottle of water, it's six dollars however one of our bottles of water was already empty and placed back on the serving tray, which makes me think that obviously the room was not cleaned properly because when I picked it up, you could tell it was totally hollow, and the seal was broken. - read more

A Westin in name only. This hotel is dated and is in desperate need of a refresh. For the premium rates, the hotel definitely does not meet the standard one would expect. The Westin -- Pittsburgh is definitely worth a perfect 3-Star for the value and experience. Here are some honest thoughts... Parking: I actually purchased a parking pass through SpotHero prior to my stay, which did not work. I would suggest just getting parking straight through the parking garage when you enter. The parking garage is a bit tricky. The entrance is actually at the front of the hotel. If you type the address into your GPS, it brings you to the back and sides of the hotel. Elevators: A really neat and high-tech elevator but can but tricky and confusing to use. Basically type your floor # in and it will tell you which of the 6-elevators to use. Be careful because most of the time, people are coming out from it as well. Rooms: They gave me a room right next to the elevators. If you're a deep sleeper, you will be fine but it can get quite loud; depending how rude your neighbors are. It gets loud as people talk, come out of the elevators and walk towards the elevators. The walls are thin in general. I can hear my neighbor taking a shower and flushing the toilet. Overall, the rooms were clean. Location: Fantastic if you're planning to do some site seeing and tours. This area is the hot spot in my opinion, 1-3 miles from the other districts. I was able to take walks without an issue. It's also surrounded by some good restaurants. Overall, not a bad place to stay. A nice and central location. read more

I really like this Westin location. I have stayed here a couple times and always have a pleasant experience. They are dog friendly & don't charge an extra pet fee, which is much appreciated! Rooms are reasonably priced although parking is a little pricy, but that's typical downtown for ya. There is a parking garage & they also offer valet. Here, the staff is always welcoming. Checkin is fast & painless which is always a plus in my book. Even when they are busy, you never have a problem getting an elevator unlink some places. The rooms are exceptionally clean with comfortable beds and plenty of linens in the bathrooms. This is a prime location being walking distance to several attractions downtown Pittsburgh. I also enjoy Bills Burger Bar, which is a Landry's restaurant, located off the hotel lobby. Additionally, I'd like to note that during Covid-19, mask policy has been enforced and the appear to be taking all precautions to make a safe stay for hotel guests. So far I've stayed here 2 separate occasions in the past week. I love the location of this hotel. So much to do and see around here. Especially love walking thru the cultural district and 3 rivers park. My first stay was too close to the elevators and I could hear them all night long. There was also some youth hockey event going on and kids were running and screaming in the halls- this continued for over 30 minutes. I did call downstairs and was promised security was on the way. The screaming stopped for awhile- but then started back up briefly about an hour later. This was later in the evening- I did see signs up in the hotel saying quiet times. Also on this trip I dropped my new iPhone in the bath tub- this hotel room is outdated, and could definitely benefit from some room updates. The ledge in the bath is very narrow, slick, and slants downwards. The ladies I have talked to at the check in counter are all helpful and friendly. I was not looking forward to staying here again, but when I checked in last night and explained how loud my last room had been, and asked for a quiet room- the woman was very kind and promised me a much quieter room. She was true to her word. I got a great night sleep last night. I checked out the gym last night. Very impressed with all the equipment available. Had a great workout, and had the gym all to myself. I enjoyed another bath last night, then got over 8 hours of sleep. I got my best sleep score all week. After spending my day out exploring, I'm back for another workout and a relaxing evening in my room before my early morning flight. What a difference a quiet room makes. I appreciate the size of the room- plenty of floor space for yoga and meditation. Every room has a fridge and coffee maker. There is also a microwave in the lobby. The Westin wasn't a bad experience once we got through check-in. We arrive at midnight on a Friday evening after work and there was a long line to check in and the front desk was moving very slowly. After we battled that, it was a good experience. The hotel is modern, clean, and has a big lobby. It's downtown Pittsburgh and you can walk to restaurants and coffee shops nearby as well as a fun neighborhood (the Strip District). The service is good and the hotel has a good workout room. My wife and I stayed here 5 nights while attending a conference. We had a nice room on the 21st floor. The room was spacious and clean. My wife has a muscle disease and the bed was comfortable for her. We also had a fantastic housekeeper, a woman originally from Bosnia. My wife and I have worked with helping refugees resettle in the Pittsburgh area for over twenty years. Many work in hotels. It was great getting to meet our housekeeper and conversing with her. Check in was quick and I was directed to the elevators which many have mentioned are a little different but not something that bothered me. The rooms however were a little dated. It could use a little refresh, but overall it was a clean room and bathroom which felt standard for an older Westin (3 stars). However, the fitness center bumped this place up to 4 stars for me given that there was access to a real full gym. Plenty of cardio, weights, racks, machines everything plus a pool, steam, sauna which I was surprised by. Many of the luxury Marriott Bonvoy properties do not have amenities like this, so it stood out to me. Would stay again, especially if I was planning to work out. read more

BLUF: expensive parking and failure to do the little things that matter made this an average hotel stay Stayed there for a conference. The check in took a very long time, but to their defense a lot of people were checking in at once for the conference. The staff has been unfailingly pleasant. The room is very clean, and the beds are comfortable. On the downside, parking is very expensive. Also no microwave in the room, or anyplace else for guests to use. I see it as a pretty transparent way to force guests to buy food in the hotel. Also I went to use one of the disposable cups they provide for in-room coffee, only to find it coated with what must have been the leftover coffee from the guest before me. The bathroom had about 1/5 roll of toilet paper, the other roller was empty, and no spares to be found. The ironing board was nonfunctional. It literally could not be stood up, and I had to call down for another one. I went to the front desk to see if they had a small tube of toothpaste and some shave cream, as I'd forgotten those. These are pretty common items for hotels to stock, but I was told they don't have any of those. Overall it's an okay stay, but the little things add up to make it kinda frustrating. There are other hotels nearby that are more up to snuff, and offer an included breakfast to boot. read more

It was a great location but not up to most Westin Standards. Staff was nice and helpful. The smell in multiple rooms is really bad. It smells like body odor. I thought it was just my room but I had 3 friends who all had their own rooms and they all said the same thing. It needs a major update in all rooms. My stay at the Westin got off to a poor start when the local employees refused to honor a price offered by Marriott Rewards (they actually tried to charge more than the "regular" rate advertised online). The manager made things right when I checked out, but the tone was set for a lackluster stay. Indeed, I can only report two positives for the Westin Pittsburgh: the ubiquitous Westin beds allowed me to get a restful sleep, and the gymnasium at this location is better than average (it has a dozen treadmills, a dozen exercise bikes, numerous ellipticals, various cabled weights, rowing machines, dumbbells, a 24-hour pool, a steam room, a sauna, and all the toiletries in the locker room that you might have forgotten to pack). The rest of this Westin was disappointing. The "buisness" center was a single desktop computer that cost ~$7 for fifteen minutes of use plus additional charges for printing. The "fast" wifi was an additional charge. The hotel lobby's coffee cost $3 (meanwhile, a venti brewed coffee from the Starbucks right next door was only ~$2.50). Finally, as you can see from the attached picture, my room was not fully clean upon check-in. read more

The following night we went to the front desk to purchase a night cap. They told us that the cooler was out of service at 1:45. The state law disagreed so after 10 minutes they let us buy. Checking out, the manager came rushing over assuring us that it was too late because we had to be in our rooms with the beer by 2. Even after they wasted time, we had 5. Checkout is 30s. The elevator ride is 30s. After admitting the law did allow us to purchase, the manager still refused. The breakfast that was included featured a large selection, all well-prepared. There was an anime convention at the convention center, plus a posh Indian wedding. So to say the least the guests were interesting! The hotel is central so we walked everywhere. Leroy, one of the bellboys (not sure if that is the right term) helped me navigate the doors next to the revolving door. I can't use a revolving door. The keypad elevators made me uncomfortable--I don't like not having buttons. The website didn't mention a pool in the amenities, only a fitness center.
