I've been in this neighborhood for 3 years and recently moved within walking distance. I was excited to go here- it looks very small from the outside, but it has more than enough room and I was pleasantly surprised. I arrived to meet some friends and was immediately served and given a food menu. The prices are great and the food choices are solid. They had tons of TV's and the overall atmosphere on a Saturday night was perfect. Unfortunately, a drunk customer ran into a server carrying a tray of 4 beers. They got dumped all over me and directly into my brand new handbag. I had a bag full of at least one entire beer. Cell phone, wallet, cosmetics- EVERYHING drenched/ruined. Including myself. I was given a towel to help clean myself and belongings off. This was incredibly frustrating as many of my items were ruined and I had to pay a cleaning fee for my bag and wallet. I looked at the nearest staff member behind the bar and flat out said I would not be paying for my tab- out of pure frustration. The bartender reminding me it was not the waitresses fault, but he would comp our tab. I said thank you and left. I do realize that this was not the staffs fault and so I'm taking the time to write this review because I think it should be noted that they still took care of the customer and did not argue when I asked for a comp'd tab. When you run an establishment things like this will happen and ultimately the staff can argue with you or honor your request. So I appreciate that there was no push back for my request. I'm looking forward to coming back, especially in the summer when they open the front window up. My only suggestion and why I didn't give 5 stars is because I feel like the customer who caused this incident was probably served one too many beers when he clearly had enough. read more

Another good experience. The hit-or-miss service during the bar's first few months has been remedied: dishes now are coming out quickly and smoothly out of the kitchen and hot over the pass. Kudos to Dam for working the room efficiently. Irish nachos and the (7?) buffalo wings are great, but I'd like to see supersized versions of both served during big games since the current "2-person-sharable" portions aren't right-sized for big groups. Draft beers run the gamut from hefe to pils to amber. Beer flights would be a good addition, but maybe that's something I missed on the current menu. Highly recommend and will return, especially for Seahawks games. read more

Came here for brunch with a girlfriend and her 2 year old son and this place is great. The prices are so reasonable considering some places can be almost $20 a plate. I was really surprised. I ordered the chicken and waffles and it came with bacon within the waffle and two large boneless pieces of chicken. Yum. My friend created her own breakfast which she finished (with the help of her kid). we were seated in the back which has skeeball which entertained the kid while we were eating. We also got a carafe of mimosas which was only $17 which is a steal considering one mimosas can be $8 or $9 and this carafe filled us up at least 4 times each in a flute. Service was great. First thing you notice when you walk in is the fully stocked bar and the many TV's they have setup around the bar. Have not been in here on NFL game nights, but would definitely consider it. This place is definitely a whole in the wall that deserves a brighter spotlight. Came in during Happy Hour (11PM - Close). The lady and I shared The Westy burger with Ghost Pepper cheese and Irish Nachos minus the bacon for me. Only $5 a piece for each, now that's a sweet deal! The bartenders are very informative with their selections and were real attentive to my lady's taste-buds for the night. Ok 4.75 stars only because it's a little stuffy in there air flow could be better. That being said, I stumbled in here today after doing some laundry. Happy hour time about 4pm. They have a 5$ burger that's amazing. The best burger I've had in awhile. We also split the warm, bacon, spinach salad. (Not on happy hour) 7$. Classic old school cocktails. The bartender was super informed and knew what was up! I even asked her the name of the bakery because the bun was one of the best I've ever shoved in my mouth. And she knew the name. This place is a cool sports bar with a pretty good menu. A lot of gluten free and veggie options! The place is small and usually packed on game days. I suggest going early to get a table. Westy serves tots as a side instead of fries which is a bummer for me but bf loves it. Their veggie burger is good and bf thought the Westy burger had good flavor. One night we did take out and thought to try their desert options - cinnamon bites and the brownie sundae. I think they use husky deli ice cream which was amazing but the brownie we didn't like the taste. The cinnamon bites had a cool twist of being waffles - I can't say they had much flavor and was a bit on the hard side. I've also had their pretzel bites and jalapeño popper dip which was really good. read more

I've pretty much moved into The Westy. I moved into the neighborhood about six months ago, and I'm so happy that the only two bar/restaurants in the area are very, very good. I almost always sit at the bar, and the bar staff is uniformly great. Attentive, willing to have a conversation if it's not too busy and you're in the mood to talk, and they give straight-up opinions on the food. The Westy has an excellent cocktail program - I strongly urge you to try their tap cocktails. It's a clever way to get consistency from otherwise complicated drinks. While I don't drink beer anymore, I do know enough to say that they're careful about the brewers they source from, but also have one mass-market beer on tap for folks whose tastes lean that way. I do wish they had more than one cider on tap, but you can't ask for everything. Their food is really good, and they easily accommodate people like me who are skipping certain things for health reasons. I really like their happy hour menu, and the seared broccoli (always on the menu) is made of pure awesome. It's also the least bro-ey sports bar I've ever been to. The place was totally jammed for the Women's World Cup. Plus, my wife says she feels very comfortable there - rare for a sports bar. There are also enough TVs to show a variety of events, and they're generally accommodating if someone really wants to see something. They'll also always put the sound on for the biggest event currently running. They also never do PPV events, so there's never a cover. In a nutshell, I love the place and I hope they do gangbuster business, but not so much that I can't get a seat at the bar. read more

My friend who's a Browns fan wanted to hit this place up after a night of drinking. Great place to grab some good hangover food. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was pretty good- with a real flaky biscuit and an tasty sausage patty. The potatoes were over cooked and that is about the only thing that wasn't up to my liking about the place. It is hard to find a good sports bar in Seattle. Many lack sufficient TV's and or some don't even pay for the sports packages so they can show all the games. Very dope joint, away from the main drag of West Seattle further to the north. Flat-screen sports porn at every angle of head tilt. Great selection of unique beers, although beware that the pours are short [ours were a meager 10oz & 13oz]. I found the burger to be your standard gastropub offering, so not sure where all the hype comes from. They do cook it to order which is nice, though my 'rare' request came just pink. The upcharge for waffle fries proved worthy... but again, to nit-pick... they were over-salted. The Aussie 'tender was professionally trained to wait & clear tables, as well as provide relevant chit chat. Good overall lunch experience; burger+beer+tip was 27 bones, so not for the faint of heart. Disclaimer: This review is purely for the amazing broccoli at this place. It's so consistently a pleasure in my mouth that it deserves a solitary review. Consistent quality for top-notch food at a pub is a rare find anyway, let alone for a cruciferous vegetable. It's always tender-crisp and with a copious amount of garlic to make sure any vampire will give you wide berth for the rest of the night. The citrus tang and chili pepper zing also make me swoon. Meanwhile, for someone who disdains both TV and sports, this place requires some forbearance (and a few martinis to soften the offensive nature of there being almost as many TVs as there are tables). Stopped by here to grab a bite during their Happy Hour. It's a small little bar, great atmosphere good food & drinks! We got the Pretzel Bites, $5 Happy Hour Burger and a small Caesar Salad. They were all really good. The pretzel bites were deep fried and served with cheese and mustard. Frying them gave such a great texture. The burger was perfectly cooked, great char to it and very delicious! The caesar salad was pretty good, liked the dressing on it and the homemade croutons. Exciting addition to the neighborhood! We were part of a private party here and enjoyed every moment! The owner seems like a great guy with tons of experience behind him. The staff were all friendly and very accommodating, the food was delicious (I had the salmon burger) and the well is deep, so drink selection feels expansive (discovered an awesome sipping rum: Zaya). They also have fun games to play when you aren't completely immersed in a game that's on one of their 16 TVs. Fun atmosphere, no complaints! read more

I have been here three times. The ambiance is great- there's a nice long bar with plenty of TVs so it would definitely be a fun place to watch a game. The service has always been just fine. Friendly staff and food and drink never take long to be served. The food is where I have struggled. I have had the vermicelli bowl, the carbonara, and The Westy burger. When I think about each dish and what specifically stands out as to what I didn't enjoy it comes down to FLAVOR. Each dish was simply bland! The vermicelli bowl was bland, the carbonara was greasy and tasteless, and the actual beef part of the burger had no flavor. The ghost pepper cheese was way over the top for me too. Basically the food is sub par and overpriced for the lack of quality. However, I will definitely go back for drinks (good beer selection and full bar) and the lovely ambiance! We love The Westy! My boyfriend and I come here at least once or twice a month for a quick dinner or late night happy hour. His favorite is the chicken and waffles; it comes with a bourbon-spiked syrup that's to die for. The seared broccoli is so good I learned how to recreate it at home! Burgers, sandwiches, etc. are all good too. The seasonal menu can be a little hit or miss. I've ordered a couple disappointing pasta dishes, but hey, you don't go to a sports bar for spaghetti carbonara. Everything on their main menu is really consistent. Drinks are strong and bartenders are super friendly. Great happy hour prices. We'll definitely keep coming back to the Westy. read more

Great little neighborhood bar that I read about in the Seattle Times so I had to check it out for myself. Met with the co-owner, J.P. who is a totally chill dude. Great ambiance and liquor selection, even picked myself up a T-shirt. The salads could use some tomatoes and maybe boiled eggs with avocado. How about some breaded eggplant or zucchini french fries? Perhaps an addition of "UFC night" would really be great too since they go all out for March Madness. Some adjustments to the menu like a kale, shrimp pesto salad or hush puppies, would be pretty awesome too. Thanks guys, I'll be back one day. read more

We go to the Westy often. A sports bar with wayyyy better food than other sports bars. That's exactly what I'm looking for in a bar and they've done it. The service has been much better than when they first opened. Always friendly and come to us right away so no waiting for a fabulous IPA they always have on tap. Great deals on the happy hour menu....where else can you order tasty clams for 5 bucks?!! The seared broccoli is a must have....it's not even like you're eating a vegetable. Also, the Westy has Shuffle board and Skee ball making it a fun place to hang out. But the best part is the TV's. This is my 3rd time here. The 1st time was not great- service was great but I don't recommend the Irish Nachos because they were horrible. The 2nd time was great! Service and food both. This time was also great. I had the Mac-n-Cheese, side Caesar Salad and Mexican Egg rolls (this was a Chef's Special). To drink I had a Hot Toddy. Mac-n-Cheese was amazing and plentiful for the appetizer size. You can tell it's handmade and not some freezer or boxed stuff. Side Caesar salad was very good also well & evening dressed without being over dressed. They didn't skimp on the parmesan cheese :) Croutons were hearty and held up to the dressing too. Only thing with the dressing was it had a lot of fresh garlic. Gave the salad a bite there was so much. The Mexican Egg rolls were delicious! My Hot Toddy was really good too. They make them with a fresh Cinnamon stick and Cloves. I have never had that way before and frankly I don't know if I could go without now. Such a hearty earthy flavor. read more

I'm told the menu changes but keeps many staples like the Westy Burger with ghostpepper cheese and tater tots :-) Can't go wrong with 12 rotating beer taps and 2 rotating cocktail taps.
