The place feels warm and comfortable with dark wood and brick. Literally a few blocks from my house I can now go get amazing wings, or lighter fare and Reuben's beer and not feel like I am in a testosterone pumped bar. Yes, TV's everywhere and sports on n such but me and the girls don't feel out of place. The staff are all obviously seasoned professionals who know exactly what they're doing. I was so excited for a sports bar to open so close to home. The atmosphere is great, lots of TV's and skee ball. The service was ok. My husband and I sat for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by a waitress (at least drop off the menus and say you'll be with us as soon as you can), we understand it's a new place and it's super busy. The prices are ok, a little on the higher end, especially for the quality of the burgers. The appetizers were great! Loved the fried pickles and nachos. However, both the Westy burger and the Fried Chicken burger were disappointing. The bread was dry and crumbly, while the chicken burger was so awful, I couldn't finish it because all I could tastes was grease! I'm giving it 3 stars because of it's nice atmosphere and most likely will return (but only for a drink and for the TV's). read more

I went to The Westy on a Tuesday night as a last minute location change. We were pleasantly surprised by The Westy. We all ordered beers and an order of the Irish Nachos. Seriously, they were to die for. I dream about them at night now. The Westy was much larger than I was expecting and very, very busy for a Tuesday night. Love this place. I wish there was a neighborhood bar this solid near my house. Great selection of rotating microbrews & ciders, imaginative cocktails a great food menu that always changes before it gets stale, and there's not a seat in the house without a good view of a big screen tv for whatever game. The place is a zoo if the Seahawks are playing. You must try the broccoli (and everything else on the menu). Did I mention the staff is always great - very helpful. read more

I stopped in here because I was in the area running errands, and being that it was my weekend I wanted to treat myself to something to eat & drink. Also, it was 3:15 pm which meant their happy hour had just started-- even more of a reason to go inside! I got the wings with BBQ (just the right amount of heat), and their Seattle Cider Gin Botanical (which tastes like my favorite Angry Orchard Elderflower - spring seasonal cider) which was AMAZING. This place has such great potential! I have been there a few times now and the service hasn't been the best, the bartender was not attentive we waited almost 15 minutes for him to acknowledge us and took him a long to time to come back for our next round. I have heard from my friends its always a toss up, either the service is like that or pretty attentive. I love having a sports bar so close to my house! All the TV's are awesome! Mr wife and her girl friends have been regulars here through the Seahawks playoffs and Super Bowl. Last Friday night she invited me out for a date night happy hour, all I can say is awesome! Good food, good beer and great atmosphere. It's was sunny and warm, the front window is like a glass garage door and it was wide open. I love all the different TV's with Golf, Soccer, Baseball and Motor Cross... I like the size of the place and its different levels for seating, nice use of a skinny building, I commend the space designer, job well done. The seats are plenty comfortable for a meal and a 2 to 3 beer stay. I'm sure I'd be comfortable watching our Seahawks in another Super Bowl, cause really who'd be sitting, GO HAWKS!! read more

Update: My hubby and I went for Happy Hour tonight. Great environment, amazing seared broccoli, but the chicken wings were not good. Pretty sure they were baked because the texture was totally off. Had to lower my review to 4 stars. Original: This is my favorite new local bar in West Seattle. Their buffalo wings are delicious! My husband's chicken sandwich also looked amazing. Great beer selection and atmosphere. The building itself is much larger than you'd think when driving by. My only complaint are the chairs in the back are not very comfortable so if you can grab a booth, do it! We will definitely be back again. read more

Came in to catch the first night of NHL playoffs. Place was pretty busy for a Wednesday and ended up in the upstairs area. When I asked if one of the TVs could put on a game, they told me all the TVs are preset and they couldn't change any of the channels, which is a pretty big disappointment for a sports bar. The service was not that great, but the food was really good so I'd probably give it another try on a night that I'm not there to watch a specific game. read more

If you have Coke on tap, the refills are free. This is America and those are the rules for American establishments. If you violate this rule, you make it known. You don't spring it on patrons when they get the bill and then retort with unapologetic snark. The food is ok. Edit in reply to the Westy's comment: I appreciate your courteous response. Let me clarify that after complaining to the server, she not-so-graciously took off the third soda from our bill but told us your policy was to charge for refills after the first "free" one. She did not apologize or say that it was a mistake. She said that's your policy. So I didn't go straight to Yelp to vent, but brought it up to your staff. A polite and truthful response would have avoided a bad review, but that's not what I got. That's why the bill you saw was right. Plus one star for your thorough and thoughtful response. You're mistaken in your assertion that you haven't and never will charge for refills, though. read more

Finally got a chance to stop in, when I first walked in I was pleasantly surprised at the overall vibe of the place. Even though it's a sports bar with televisions everywhere with sports on, it's still warm and inviting. I also loved the fact that there was a different sport on every TV so I was able to sit and watch the UFC prelims while my bud watched the Basketball game on the very next screen. It was late after noon early evening so the place wasn't crazy busy yet like I've heard it can get and we were able to get a seats at the bar. Back bar is very nice, good selection of spirits and beer. This is where the experience started to feel like a typical sports bar. My buddy and I waited about 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Once the bartender did decide to stop chatting with his co-worker and approach us it was very cold and disconnected. This bartender was not happy to be at work. Anyway he dropped off a drink menu and a food menu and walked away without offering water or anything to start. He went back around the bar to continue his conversation with his co-worker and friends. After another good 5-8minutes he came back and asked us what he could do for us. We ordered a round of drinks and they were fine. My buddy commented on how most of the staff, with the exception of one the severs where very unapproachable and unfriendly. We talked about getting something to snack on but after 20 minutes, empty glasses and never being asked if we wanted anything to eat, we decided to move on. Great place! We tried this place for the first time and completely underwhelmed and disappointed. The broccoli hush puppies were undercooked but the batter was burnt and had no seasoning. The aioli was also not right. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The batter again was burnt but the cod was OK. His waffle fries were WAY over salted and couldn't eat them. Sad because he loves a good waffle fry. Me too! I had the tuna tacos. I LOVE tacos but the tuna was "off". The mango hicama salad inside the taco was good but there was too much of it and the chuncks were too big. This also lacked seasoning. The table didn't have salt or pepper to fix this. The person who recommended this place said they had an OK burger and should have ordered that but wanted a more than "Ok" food. Our bill was around $50 and we left a 20% tip as our waitress and our server were lovely. Tons of T.V.s for a sports bar so that was nice. Not sure if we'll give it another try as we live going to eat locally. read more

Finally tried this place last night and don't get the hype. Food was okay, nothing memorable. Drinks are decent, but service needs some work for sure. Think overall for the money the neighboring restaurant locol is better. The westy is just fine if you live near by, but for those of us who have to drive- just so so. read more

The Westy opened officially yesterday, I believe. We enjoyed great food, cocktails and the sporty atmosphere. The chicken and waffles are a hit right out the gate. The syrup tasted overly spicy at first yet I probably took too much at once because it was just right thereafter. The place was busy yet service remained good. There are so many TVs. Oh my. I wish we had a place like the Westy in Fremont. If the food n drinks are consistently as good as our first visit, it would be our go-to spot. read more

We been here several times and it's usually been good, however, today was a different story. Tonight when our party of three went to cash out, the bill was a whopping $345, during happy hour! We kindly asked why were being over charged for approximately 9 beers extra for each person, in which they said we had ordered and drank ~10 beers for each person. We explained that there was no way we had each drank 10 beers and would still be coherent. There were three different servers serving us during our stay, and possibly something happened where they were each charging for all our beers total? When the manager came out, she was extremely rude and accused us of drinking all these and made it seem as if we were trying to get out of paying our bill. When we explained again we would not be able to drink 10 beers a price, She said, "you will be surprised". They then stated they could review the tape, again accusatory, in which we responded, please do, because we knew we were being excessively overcharged. In the end they agreed to charge us for the stated amount we ate and drank. Customer service was terrible and will not be back with our patronage, and instead will support our other local, honest, West Seattle bars. read more
