Wow talk about walking into a time capsule. This establishment brings you back to the 70 's . I ordered a old fashion and was not disappointed . Collin the bartender really made me feel like I was at that cheers bar where everyone knew each others for years. Definitely felt the love . The prices are what you expect from Manhattan. The decor like I said is a throw back to when drinking was all everyone did. Date: Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 Time: around 7:30pm My group of 4 stopped by for a bday get together in the back room. It was pretty crowded when we arrived, but we headed straight to the back. They had grabbed some tables in the corner as there were a fair amount of people here already. There was a TV which was great as it was during the NBA Conference Semifinals and the Knicks were playing. We partly went up to the bar and grabbed drinks and partly ordered from a server. I think there were some fries in the mix as well. I know one of my friends saw the specials at the bar, so we did end up with their shot of the day, cocktail of the day, etc. When it came time to order from he server, I wanted a spicy margarita so got that. While in town for a team meeting, my colleague and I went to grab some pre-dinner drinks. I like a good "dive bar" and the Whiskey Tavern checked off that box for me. As we sat down in one of the booths, our waiter came over right away, introduced himself to us and also asked for our names. I thought that that was a nice touch already but what later happened would certainly exceed my expectations... Anyway, we started drinking and chatting, ordering some snacks and then...at some point...I look up and see a sign that reads: Happy Monday, Uli & PJ. I really was surprised as I have no idea when they hung that up! Really, really loved this personal touch! Oh...and they rounded up our evening with a free tequila shot! Nice one! read more

Stumbled in here after our company holiday party. It was just the vibe we were looking for! We ended up sitting in the back room. It was kind of quiet but still had music playing, lots of Christmas decorations. It was perfect! We ordered a bunch - quesadillas, tater tots and chicken fingers. It was just what we needed. Stopped in to get out of the cold on a girls trip to NYC, after shopping on Canal street hoping for a place to warm up without spending a ton. Coming from Austin; we love a good dive bar and this is exactly that. A GREAT atmosphere, the bar tenders were fast and so nice, made us feel right at home never like an outsider! Classic dive bar in Chinatown to relive college memories as a late 20s/early 30s. We came here at midnight on an unsuspecting Saturday evening and it was surprisingly busy with lots of events going on -- birthday parties, "anniversaries" of being in NY, etc. Clientele mostly skewed towards white/straight, but everyone was having a good time and being friendly. Titanic was playing on the TV in the back the entire time, which was a hoot. The DJ set was amazing and there wasn't a single song that seemed out of place. There's some food options -- I got buffalo wings and fries and ate it while standing, I was so hungry. All in all, a consistently good place to go for a quick drink and to regress to a time with less responsibilities. read more

Let me give you an updated review, since I became a better reviewer. Well, Whatever I say about this place wont be enough, it is truly a gem of the city. Either during weekdays or weekends, this place never misses, and everytime I leave the place, I have a smile on my smile. Food: I have tried multiple stuff from the menu and each single one is a hit. In addition to their weekly special (check the IG) their burgers, fries, taters tots, tacos, or chicken wings are very tasty definitely hit the spot, and if you thinking you wont be getting a big plate, you are wrong. Each portion is big enough to fill you up. Service: Ahhhh, Brian, Mariel, Alex, are my favorites, they are by far my the best of the best. They make me feel welcomed and everytime I see them, I know I will have a good time. Ambiance: You want to watch sports, have a group gathering, dance till you can't breathe, or just have a nice chat with a friend; this place is the right one. Music and good vibes are the motto of this place. Love this place! Walked into looking to kill some time before my NYE event.....I didn't want to leave. It's NYE and this is the party I want to go to!!! Whiskey Tavern, you beautiful gem, you! We strolled in during the day, thinking we were just going to have a chill time--and we did! The vibe was so laid-back and cozy, we almost didn't leave. But oh, when we returned at night, it was like we stepped into an entirely different universe! The place was alive with fun music, wild dancing, and pure, unfiltered good vibes. And let's talk about Brian, the bartender--this guy is a legend. Not only can he whip up a mean cocktail, but he's also got the charm of a movie star. A solid 4.5 bar with good service & decent drinks. FYI, it gets crowded QUICK so recommend coming a bit earlier. One of my gals threw a holiday gathering here & I have to say, it was a good choice. Food was pretty solid & so were the vibes but just a heads up, music is a bit loud, haha (but what did you expect? it's a dive bar after all!). What's not to love, lunch special, solid menu, great drinks. Very nice bourbon selection, HH daily. My burger was fine, great value, what I needed, not award winning. I'm a HUGE fan of Whiskey Tavern - it's a really fun spot where you feel welcome, whether it's your first time there or 50th. They make fun signs to hang at your table customized to who is in your party, which is a really fun touch, and it always seems like they're celebrating something. The most recent time I came they had these koozies since they've been open 14 years. My favorite drink here is the Cinnamon Toast shot - it's so tasty. read more

This is the definition of a good pub. The service is amazing, the food is also shockingly delicious- some of the best fried pickles you will EVER have and it's all packed in a fun, joyful atmosphere. I walked in here on a Thursday afternoon for a quick shot. I was in the area and was in the mood for a pickle back. I found myself at Whiskey Tavern accidentally. I walked in and I was immediately greeted by Colin their bartender. He was super friendly and served me quick. I sat next to the Happy Thursday Gary sign coincidentally and got to meet Gary as he's a regular at the bar. I did my pickle back shot and hung around because the bar was so welcoming & the people around me were fun to talk to. would definitely recommend this place for a fun time! read more

I could tell you to look for the blue beaker sign that says "Chemist" but the better tell is the random guy sitting on a stool outside. He'll be the only person on the street, so no worries about missing him! The menu has changed over the years, but the quality has not. The bartenders are social and personable.
