This is the coolest place to hang, Chase, Chris and Jenny are some of the coolest people I've ever met, not to mention their skill as bartenders. They know how to cut up with their customers and they always know how to make great cocktails and they always treat you great. I don't Yelp. Let me preface... I have NEVER Yelp'd. Today, I Yelp. The Whiskey is staffed well. They are very knowledgable. I came in while they were slow and had a chat with a couple of their bartenders. They entertained me with stories of whiskies and scotches, showed me their impressive whiskey menu and made me some pretty bad ass drinks. I highly recommend coming in and trying their old fashioned. If you're looking for a craft cocktail, the two best places in FoCo are Whiskey and Ace Gillette's - which happens to be just across the street. The bartenders at Whiskey are absolutely top notch. I am continually impressed with the skill and artistry these folks command. So, if you want a craft cocktail, you have two great choices. BEST WHISKEY SOUR EVER! Seriously, whiskey sour with the egg white is the most heavily thing my mouth has tasted. I thought this sounded a bit strange and really scary but I was going to give it a try anyways. I was absolutely amazed by what I was experiencing, the egg white was doing something incredible here, it's creamy, it's sour and just ever so slightly sweet. This drink made my day 10x better and the bartenders who make them are just as amazing. I will now only go to The Whiskey for my egg white sour since I tried ordering this special drink at 2 other "fancy" bars, both were absolutely horrendous. This place has excellent drinks, wonderfully sassy and knowledgeable staff and awesome homemade food. One of my favorite spots in town. read more

I liked this place for a while due to their wide variety of whiskeys. (It is quite expensive though) However... One night during the First Friday Art Walk they had a Bowie themed night in their back room area. There was a female server who was the worst server I've ever experienced. She was very unfriendly and rude. Her blonde companion was working very hard and enduring the busy night a lot better but the brunette has put me off the place for good. She huffed at not hearing my order the first time, with an air of impatience and annoyance the second time she understood it was a whiskey I wanted that was located at the other bar area (not a far walk) she walked away without explanation and started serving other people. I was left at the bar confused. The blonde server ended up coming back with my order. (getting a whiskey at The Whiskey shouldn't be a tough time) Something that was clearly far to annoying for my original server to get...(I'm sorry if server isn't the right word) I went to pay the blonde lady when my brunette friend stepped in and took my card off me. When she walked away to the payment area I could see her complaining/mocking (I assume about me/her night) to the other person. I regret tipping her. She just seemed to walk with a head above everyone else and we, especially me, were all below her majesty. (I hate it when people are just nasty/negative to others for no reason) Anyway, decided to watch her for a bit with my company after that as a form of crap entertainment. She was just annoyed the entire night. Spilling stuff over her hand as she confidently made it, not smiling, rushing around yet somehow making nothing faster. She may just be one server but she is enough to make me never return. I really wish I could give 3.5 stars but this will have to do. The atmosphere is really cool. Loved the building. The drinks are amazing. Try any of the mules. The food is also very good (not great but not average either). The place where they fell short is service. I'm not sure if they were short staffed when we visited but it took over 10 minutes for a waiter to come to our table and that was only because we finally flagged him down. Then, getting him to come back to take our food order after we got drinks was another 20 minute wait. Also, he didn't write down our orders and had to come back to ask what we wanted again. Just write it down, dude. Took a long time to get our second round of drinks and they messed up the order but we got comped a free drink so that was nice. Also, our app came out at the same time as our entrees which isn't the worst but it's also not great. Overall, I'll give this place another chance because the food, drinks and atmosphere were good but it may have been an off night for service. read more

We went to The Whiskey for lunch at 1pm on a Thursday. We were the only 4 customers. We sat at the table in the window which was lovely. The Whiskey sour was delivered promptly but the Irish coffee took 20 minutes and was full of coffee grounds. We ordered the fried pickles which were fabulous. While waiting 30 minutes for our food we were so bothered by the gnats and flies that we had to move tables. We were still the only ones there. When our food finally arrived the sweet potatoes fries were hardly warm and one sandwich was not what we ordered. I had the pulled pork which had an odd taste. I will not be back! read more

This place was awesome, the hospitality was even better. Our short stay warranted us a second visit the same night. Dylan (sorry if my spelling is off) was super knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us all the places to visit on our one off day, as our stay was short here. Everyone was friendly, the Widow Jane, and "Pappy Juice" made me wish I lived here and could be a regular. Great staff! We need shit like this is in Chicago. Thanks for the great hospitality, guys! Disappointed! I'd been in the whiskey a number of times and been very satisfied with the drinks and service. However on Tuesday my husband and I went in with our Passports to get a drink (for those of you not familiar, you get two drinks for the price of one with a Passport). They only offered a neat pour of whiskey or an old fashioned as their deal. Being a chick, both of those options are too strong for me, so I asked the bartender if I could substitute my drink for a cocktail and pay the $1 difference between the said old fashioned and the whiskey sour that I wanted. Said she'd have to upcharge me $3 for a cocktail. Okay, no problem, the passport is a steal anyways so I don't mind paying a little extra to be high maintenance. So, we were expecting to pay $7 for my husbands old fashioned, plus the $3 upcharge for my drink. Instead, when we got the bill, the bartender had taken it upon herself to charge my husband for a $12 old fashioned with premium whiskey, which was not on the menu and not what he asked for. Conveniently, the total for our drinks was $15, which is what our drinks should have cost without a passport. When we asked her about it, she was very rude and did not change the bill. Pretty deceptive if you ask me. I'll think twice about coming back. If you didn't want to give me the drink I wanted for just the $3 upcharge, you should have just told me no rather than making up the difference by charging us for an expensive drink that we didn't order.... read more

I was here with friends this past Saturday. I ordered a dirty martini not a salt lick. Probably the worst martini I've ever had. Trying to be polite about it I asked for a different drink from a different bartender. This bartender politely gave me another drink and offered that I would not have to pay for the first drink which was more expensive than the drink just ordered. However somehow the bartender that gave me the first drink switched it back so that I had to pay for the returned drink. Vu the other bartender is an acquaintance and the one that tried to correct the blunder which I really appreciated. But I was not pleased with the tall blonde male bartender that not only doesn't know how to make a dirty martini but was quite rude about it to boot!! Not pleased with his service. read more

My boyfriend and I went on our first date here about a year and a half ago and cannot stop coming back. The food is amazing, the drinks are INCREDIBLE (especially the whiskey sour and London mule), and service is impeccable. The past few times we've gone (just walked out 15 mins ago for reference), our waiter Dalton has made the experience. Don't expect service unless you have tits. I sat there for about 5 minutes waiting to order a drink while a young college girl was served immediately next to me. I was looking at their higher end scotches, specifically the McCallan M but they had it overpriced by $200. It was 30% cheaper across the street at Ace Gillette's. While I did order a local whiskey, it took several minutes and everyone else was served before me. Never did anyone ask if my drink was OK or if I needed anything else but each employee made time to go hug every woman there. Pours were inconsistent between bartenders and even between orders. The bartenders seemed to be making up drinks as they went and and not actually measuring drinks. I watched several of the same drinks being ordered and each one was different. I don't that any of the staff are actually trained. The staff were rude and seemed to be bothered if you wanted them to actually make anything and more concerned with getting dates than working. I was prepared to spend a few hundred there but decided I won't go there again. read more

i went there for a comedy show had a double vodka cranberry, and a beer. I went outside to smoke a cigarette and came back in but the manager told me to leave. I asked why and he just said i was too intoxicated. I said ok i'll leave just let me get my coat and scarf.
