I've been wanting to make it out to The White Lake Inn for quite some time. During the summer months, I long for beautiful days on enjoying the lakes. The White Lake Inn has been around for long a time and is a staple in the community. I loved this history of the place and enjoying lunch out on the back deck overlooking the lake. They have built a summer cool tiki bar on the deck. During the evenings, they have live music & there is even volleyball area set up. I guess they run games over the summer months. They food is basic and enjoyed the pulled chicken sandwich. I guess they are known for their fish, but I wasn't in the mood for something fried on a warm day. I was meeting a client there. I've never been before but it was centrally located and convenient for my client. From the filthy front door, I could tell it was a mistake. The smell is atrocious. I couldn't find a chair in the entire place that wasn't ripped. Luckily, I was able to find a MUCH better place just down the road so we met there instead (Sparkies - excellent food and 1000% cleaner). We're new to the area, so my husband and I have looked for the coolest dives near us. The White Lake Inn has a great deck and Palapa bar. The view of the lake makes the slow service less of a hassle. The food is tasty and pretty legit, as long as you're not starving when you show up. We've been three times now. The first time was Friday of Memorial Day weekend and we were expecting it to be bustling. It was busy, not crowded and the fastest service of the other visits. They even brought my daughter's food first so she wouldn't get impatient (she's 5). The other two times, we waited over an hour. Which isn't a huge deal, but it really burnt my toast to watch people come in after us who got served before us. Both times. I've tried this place twice, it's a big fat no. I'd absolutely go for drinks, but if you want food be prepared. Wandered in on a Monday and it was very clearly signed limited menu. I accepted this and ordered basic finger food (chicken tenders, etc) and it was fried to death. All of it. This is surprising as it took forever. Returned on a Thursday late afternoon, 4pm. Took an hour to get our food, burgers, so long we switched it to go. We had to flag down this guy who seems to do the work as the waitresses disappear for long periods, just to ask for the food to be boxed. They refused to take my carry out order because they were prioritizing the people sitting down in the restaurant orders. They wouldn't even let me come in and order some thing in a carry out box. Extremely rude manager on the phone. they said they have been understaffed for four years now. Terrible way to run a business and refused customers for no reason. If your kitchen is open, you should be able to serve all customers. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They should just close down if they can't serve their customers. A total Sh*t show! We anticipated the wait for a table, we anticipated the wait time for food, but we didn't anticipate the manager being a coward. After waiting 90min to get our food, Ted came out to say the kitchen lost our ticket. Things like that happen n we were ok, we weren't happy with Ted pushing alcohol as compensation but offering no discounts on the food for people not wanting another drink because we had to drive. I then sent a message to their Facebook page, Ted (manager) responded and tried to act like he was owners but he signed his name at the end of the messages. Meh. The only thing they do well is open beers and hand them to you in a pretty cool atmosphere. The rest is uninspiring. Our night started with a "20-30 minute wait" for an outdoor seat, which wasn't a problem. 40 minutes later, when I came back to the hostess stand to inquire about our seat, I was told that our table was given to another person with the same name. Well why the heck did you take my cell number? Really - why are you harvesting cell numbers, that's shady. We were finally seated and our waitress made her way over for our drink/app order. Drinks and our app were served promptly. Fried pickle spears...didn't taste or look homemade. And now for dinner - my wife ordered Cajun seasoned chicken with veggies and a salad, I ordered the Blue Bayou Burger. The salad came with the dinner - which is fine if you ask the customer if they want it with their dinner, we did not. The chicken was over cooked and covered in a Cajun spice blend, next to the tough, shoe-leather dry bird was a heap of mushy, previously frozen veggies. The salad was nothing special, likely from a bag with a small cup of mass produced "raspberry" vinaigrette. My burger was a good frozen patty loaded with bacon and blue cheese. The bottom line is everything I've ever had at WLI tastes and looks like it has just rolled off some random food service truck, into a fryer/oven/pan/microwave and plopped onto my plate.
