    Half Slab BBQ Ribs

I would have given this 5 stars, but... my biggest complaint is that there was a lot of waitstaff chatter - so much so that sometimes when they walked in groups of 3 or more by our table we had to stop our conversation because they were so loud. I don't know if something was going on or what but it was noticeable that they were the loudest people in the restaurant. Food was fantastic. The breadsticks with garlic cheese spread and then dunked into the roasted cauliflower soup - superb bite! The chicken spanakopita was very flavourful. And the ribs, as always, were fall off the bone tender.

One of our Go-To Local Italian restaurants. When you walk in, the Italian food smell is amazing. We were seated quickly and our server was very prompt in taking our order. We had the LuLu's Chicken, Veal Parm and Coconut Shrimp and they did not disappoint. All the food was very good and bread sticks slathered with butter are AWESOME! Of course we will be back.

Best Liver and onions anywhere in Michigan. That's the only thing we come here for about 2 times a year. The ambiance is way too modern after they remodel but it's nice. Service is always friendly and good. We have been going here for 30 plus years. Any place that has lasted this long must be good. Give it a try if you're in the area.

    House gratis breadsticks. Very tasty!

Good food at a fair price. For our first meal here we ended up getting the Margarita pizza and Greek salad with gratis house bread sticks. The Margarita pizza was well baked with the thin crust nicely browned all over. The tomato sauce, Mozzarella cheese and Basil toppings complemented each other very nicely and made for a vary flavorful pizza. The one small gripe I had is that the pizza could have used a bit more Basil as this is such a key ingredient for this style of pizza. Relative to the salad and bread sticks they were both quite good where a small salad was enough for me and wife to share. For drinks we ended up getting a Long Island ice tea and an Old Fashion with Woodford Reserve bourbon. The drinks were definately a tad on the stronger side, which I personally like, where the Old Fashion could have used just a tad bit more sweetness (syrup from cherry bottle always is good choice or simple syrup) to add a bit more balance to the drink. Having said that it was still a well made tasty drink. Relative to facility and staff, the restaurant has a large footprint with plenty of seating and a casual dining environment. The staff and in particular our waitress, was super friendly and very attentive to our needs where she personally added a lot to our dining experience. Definitely appears to be a strength of the business. Overall I was quite pleased with our first experience here where if you are looking for a good pizza that is a large step up from the many chain restaurants in the area than this is a place you should check out.

The food is consistently good and tonight was no different. From the fall off the bone ribs to the spicy chicken sandwich, or even the cauliflower steak (a great vegetarian option), everything was delicious.

    Breadsticks! Worth the drive!

Previous to last night I would have said everyone should go to Highland House, but having went last night and not having drinkable water was awful. The server rudely told us he gets comments every night and didn't offer any explanation except "it's well water and I drink it." The water smelled like sulfur so badly I couldn't keep it at the table let alone have it near my nose to drink. I asked about it as we left and the hostess said she brings her own water from home and that they have a Britta in the back for water for servers. I can't conceive a restaurant not having drinkable water. The friends we were with said it likely indicates a problem with their well. The hostess also indicated to me it is getting worse. This needs to be fixed.

Breadsticks, side salad & peach hard cider

I'm not from Michigan, but locals said Highland house was the place to go. They were right. The restaurant was rebuilt within the last 5 years. It's open & airy. Large & comfortable. The breadsticks. EVERYONE said they were the best. They are very good, and a basket comes with your meal (or you can buy a basket for $7). The side salads. Huge! A side salad could easily serve 2 or 3. The entries. I had the chicken spanakopita- so delicious. My husband had the filet. Very good too, however he ordered it well done & should have opted for medium-well. The beers. Lots of choices of local/midwestern ones on tap. I had a Michigan peach cider that was delicious. The service. Wonderful.

Food is good. Staff are nice. The bar seating gets busy and it takes awhile for them to ask for your food order. Best breadsticks ever!

The food and drinks are reliably tasty and consistent, and the service is fast and friendly. The expansive menu offers something for everyone-- classic bar fare with a twist, build-your-own pizza, lots of healthy options, and if you have any food issues, they can and will accommodate you. Some of my favorite menu items-- fresh & unique salads, wraps, and sandwiches, plus some of the best parmesan garlic boneless wings I've ever had. We've tried several different dishes over the years, and have never been disappointed. Their ranch dressing is a must-have add-on (even if you're just dipping your fries or wings... it's so good!) And they can really shake up a solid margarita! The building is huge, as it is an athletic complex with a games area, gym, and banquet center. The bar and restaurant space is in the front, offering plenty of bar, booth, and tabletop seating for both small and large groups. We avoid the nights when the corn hole/fowling area is being utilized because it tends to get so loud from all the people playing & cheering, you can't even hear yourself think! All in all, The Lift remains one of our go-to spots for a quick meal that satisfies! Bring your friends, hang out, watch a game, and grab some grub! :)

It feels like we are clubbing in here. Can't have a conversation really. The corn chips are not fresh, could be better if they were freshly made. I want the chips to be good. The elote seems to be mixed with the queso, which is really runny. It tastes better, but could be thicker. The guacamole is average, not a lot of flavor to it. Main food orders in after about 15 minutes after we were seated. The flautas are super dry, the chicken that is. The chicken isn't even jerky like, just bark like burnt. The lobster quesadilla tastes rather interesting. On closer examination after the odd texture of the lobster, it had the strangest layers to it, reminds me of the Krab. Something quite odd about their lobster for sure, comes across to me as imitation meat. Hard to describe how weird it was to me, has completely left me at a loss and utterly confused. Meat doesn't have the chew I expected at all, mostly disintegrated in my mouth without biting it and the odd layers really threw me off exceedingly. My husband asked our waitress about the nature of the lobster meat to Nikki. She asked the kitchen if the lobster meat in the quesadilla and enchiladas was real lobster meat. The kitchen of course said yes, it is. I wouldn't have expected anyone to say the lobster meat was imitation though. Such a strange meal and experience tonight.
