This was actually our first winery on our wine-weekend. Tom is a wonderful host. He was able to tell us so much about each wine as we sampled all the wines. He really took his time to make sure we understood the process. He does a lot of blending grapes with other fruits to create unique wines. The fruits change the tartness and sweetness of a wine. My favorite wines were Kran Rose (I'm a big fan of cranberries), Rose of Traminette (spring, seasonal), Faithful Vintage, and Berry Blush. It happened to be my birthday when we were doing the tasting and Tom gave me a free bottle (afterall, we purchased three!). Also, Wenwood is known for the Pumpkin Wine. It is a fall seasonal (duh) and he already has so many orders in for it. If it sounds good to you, be sure to get your order in early!

They grow many of their own grapes (Verona, Vidal Blanc, Vivant, Vignoles, and Norton), and have satellite vineyards where they grow other varieties such as chambourcin grapes. It is such a picturesque place to get married. We also rented the old historic house for our wedding party to stay in for the whole weekend. Definitely a necessity since the venue is 20 minutes away from the nearest town and any hotels. The whole venue is perfect for a rustic wedding aesthetic. Lindsay, who coordinated the contracts and who I communicated with, was lovely and kind. The vineyard is not open during the week, so sometimes communication was slow. I was surprised on the day of our wedding, no one from the vineyard was present (a part from the bartenders). We had a few issues come up that would've nice to workout with venue staff, but we are easygoing people and made it work. It is the most affordable wedding venue I could find in the general STL area. There were a few extra costs like the wedding arch and linens, but those are minuscule in the grand scheme of things. I would definitely recommend visiting the vineyard for wonderful wine and cheese boards on the weekend or if you are looking for a stunning venue for your next event!

If you like bourbons or whiskey, I'd highly recommend their Cream Sherry - it won 12th best American wine at the Decanter Wold Wine Competition (The world's largest and most influential wine competition) in recent years (just enjoy slowly - it's 19%!!). Also, they make their wines very affordable! From $11-$40, everything is in reach! (They do have a $75 reserve Norton on the list as of May 2026.) Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

We learned of Robller Winery a few years ago from Dogwood Liquors (formerly Lukas Liquor). The wine we had was then was incredibly good. We've wanted to go there since then but life just didn't offer enough opportunities. Finally we got to go this fourth of July weekend, to celebrate my wonderful wife's birthday. WOW! I talked with Jerry on the phone earlier in the week to confirm times they were and were not open the holiday weekend. Jerry also gave us a good recommendation on BBQ to get on the drive in (Hazel's Front Porch in Washington, right off Hw 100 on Jefferson. The brisket pairs really well with anything, including the Norton we enjoyed at Robller. The drive off Highway 100 is on a gravel road through a hill or two, ending at the winery, which sits atop a rolling hillside typical of the Missouri River region. Robller has its vines growing on the hills surrounding the winery building. Jerry helped us pick their Norton to have with lunch, and he visited and talked with us, and the other guests (all well separated on the shaded patio. We learned how Jerry / Robller ages the grapes longer than typical, which helps longer-chained tannins grow... those are apparently smoother than the shorter-chained tannins found in many other wines, and this longer aging is what helps Robller Wines be as wonderfully smooth as they are. Jerry also introduced us to the cheese curds they offer from nearby M & T Farms in Owensville... they have nationally ranked cows. I only like cheese on pizza, and brie... and i really liked these cheese curds... they are good on their own and they pair very well with the wine. Thanks to Jerry, we have several wines to enjoy... Norton, Norton blends, Chamborcin, and a special Chamborcin he shared just because it's my wonderful wife's birthday. We enjoyed that Chambourcin with dinner later in the week and it was fantastic, too. Thank you, Jerry!!! Thank you, Jerry, for helping provide a wonderful birthday date afternoon for us!
