So look, you have to consider this place in context. If you've never been to a winery or one in a traditional region (Napa, WA, OR, Europe) then you'll love it. However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. So if you're familiar with wineries and good wine this will be quaint but not your place. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia. read more

The wine here is good but not amazing in my opinion. Service is always great. Ambiance is beautiful, they have a nice lake area and lots of outdoor seating. We got a wine flight with a variety of dry red, dry white, semi sweet wine. My favorite is dry red, but it seems like this place specializes in mainly semi sweet or sweet wine. We called ahead of time to make sure they were open. The wife of the "owners" assured us they would be open at 1pm. We arrived at the specified time, only to be met with some "resistance" and bewilderment. We have been to wine tastings across the United States. This is the first winery that gave us samples in Benadryl sized cough medicine cups!!!! Really??? I am supposed to sip and savor your wines from tiny itty bitty plastic cups?????!!!!!! This venue caters to large events and not the everyday wine taster. Additionally,, we ordered a charcuterie board. Last time I checked, a charcuterie board did NOT consist of pretzels, trail mix, lunch able type cheese and the leftover pepperoni slices from their pizzas! While the place does embody serenity, everything else about this place is "off". I am somewhat suspicious of whether or not the wines are made from boxed kits or actually created with authenticity. With so many other outstanding wineries and vineyards in Missouri, I would skip this one! read more

We went on a gloomy day so not many people there. They give you a menu to look at but you have to order at the counter as there are no waitresses. I ordered the wood fire pizza and it was ok but not anything special. I also ordered a small strawberry and pecan salad with balsamic dressing. It was just ok. They're not much on presentation with any of the dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen. These people have been in business for a while now and honestly I don't know what all the hype is about. They have a couple of cozy seating areas inside but the tables with the chairs are so cheap and rickety I wonder how many people have fallen after too much wine? Again with the presentation? I guess for Callaway County they don't have to set the bar too high. It is also a very small venue if you are looking to have a wedding. They do have a big closed in tent out back that would give you more room but you are basically in the owners back yard, so no view of the nice lake you see when you are driving in. An impulsive stop on a road trip off I-70 about 8 minutes off the highway is this quaint little winery. A rather secluded location surprisingly had a wide variety of wines. 3 tastings are free and more are available for a price. Being a dry red wine fan we did just the 3 tasting as the rest were either sweeter or whites. We noticed a large tent which after inquiring ,is used Year round for private events. Although he did not introduce himself we got the impression our server was the owner and winemaker. He was not overly friendly, but did answer our questions politely. read more

Like another reviewer, I attended a sorority event here with my daughter. Parking attendants told us "we didn't expect this much traffic"...well, there were 2 sorority formal events, and another sorority moms event all happening simultaneously. They booked it all for the same day and time so not sure why the surprise. Scenery is less than spectacular and the only food option was a BBQ food truck with BBQ nachos. It was absolutely disgusting. Cold, soggy (I literally poured an entire cup of liquid out of it) and the price was $18 for one. This place is wonderful! The atmosphere is splendid. They have room for everyone. You can spread out. Enjoy the scenery, which is OMG. Stunning! With the lake and ducks, to the beautiful fields and not to mention the stunning sunsets you can see from here. They seem to regularly have musical entertainment. Several bathrooms to use. A large tent for a covered area when it is raining. The slushies are wonderful. Absolutely love the strawberry margarita. Very much enjoy that you can bring picnic supplies and have your own little day of enjoyment. They also have snack items you can purchase. read more

We had a great time at this winery. They are part of the Harvest Hosts program, and as RVers, we can spend the night for free and enjoy some delicious wines. We were fortunate to be there during an intimate music event, great music in a lovely atmosphere. Regina and Lee were lovely hosts and made sure we felt welcomed. This was a random stop on our way home and it was such a relaxing stop! The husband & wife owners did a tasting for us and another couple that had stopped by. All wines were great but we settled on jammin' berry wine slushies. Took them out to the Adirondack chairs that were around the lake and gazebo and enjoyed the views and the breeze. This winery is a place to try! We did the $10 wine tasting, got a wine glass and a bunch of tasting. Well worth the $10. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of the lake and the nice breeze. Plenty of seats, gazebo, swings, big Adirondack chairs sitting by the lake. Nice with no college kids! Indoor seating as well. No food, so bring your own. Wines were very good in flavor. read more

Our first visit to SVW today. We really wanted to enjoy it. They had their first Kringle event. I appreciate the effort to spread some Christmas spirit, but the wine just isn't very good. One of the guys working the wine sales compared one of the sweet wines to a jolly rancher. Hmmm. That's not what I would want to hear about any wine. So we settled on a different wine, the Blackberry. And honestly, it tasted like kool-aid. There are incredible Missouri vineyards. This isn't one of them. read more

Oh my, was traveling I-70 from visiting a larger winery in Rocheport, and saw the signs, so happy we stopped by, Lee was fabulous , we so enjoyed the winery, his expertise and the wine. The wine was incredible and the rating very generous, not just a small amount but enough to get the full flavor of the wine offered. Me and a friend were working on the Missouri Winery Tour, and weren't staying long, so we could go to the next one. Owners are wonderful and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Only a 20-25 min drive from CoMo. Skip Les Bourgeois winery and head directly to Serenity Valley.
