The Oldest Continuously Owned Family Farm Winery in the Country! I am absolutely in love with this winery... why you ask because they have 3 resident cats that they take care of! Vet visits and all. They love their felines so much that people drop off their unwanted cats at this winery, knowing they will be loved and cared for. You know a person has a good heart when a cat can approach them. I wish this family owned winery a lifetime full of happiness and continued success. Also, they make some yummy tasting sweet wines, koolaid wine as I call it. And offer free cave tours! 6 sweet wine tastings for $10 & you get to keep the glass. Thank you for making our tastebuds happy and thank you for giving love to all the cats!

Beautiful location, excellent wine and food. We love taking the trolley to and from this location. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly.

A great winery in Hermann. Stacy was super nice. The tastings were $6 for 6 wines. I really enjoyed them. There was plenty of parking.

For Missouri wines, this 7th-generation family of vinters knows how to grow grapes & produce very good vintages. Covering the gamut from dry whites to sherry & ports, 6-7 are award winners. Much prefer their white varietals to many others in local production, even the reds are decent. Excellent value, most hold up well to other states wines, and delicious pairings can be made. Highly recommend.

Kinda disappointed by our experience here. We were really excited to come, but we never were actually able to go into the tasting room. We stood outside for 15 minutes because the tasting room was full. Finally after 15 minutes someone came and talked to us and she said just give it a few more minutes then you can go in. Another 15 minutes later another coworker came out and told us that we could just go in and didn't have to wait outside. As soon as we got inside, the worker inside told us to please go back outside and wait until she was ready for us. Very confusing and disorganized. We were willing to wait but kept getting mixed information from the staff so we ended up just leaving. The tasting room is very small. The employee outside was also smoking cigarettes under the patio right by the front doors. We were drowning in the smell while we were waiting in line. Very disappointed.

So much good food, but missed pictures of a few courses.

This has always been one of my families favorite places to visit for the great tasting experience. We got to experience their Norton 7 course dinner last night which made my opinion of the winery even higher. The dinner was amazing, the tasting was fantastic, and the people were the best. Parker told such great stories and history. Lee gave such a great explanation of the wines and the property (definitely coming back for an elevated tasting). Chef Alex made an amazing dinner... his mini beef Wellington and chocolate lava cake were over the top.

As far as Covid precautions, tasting room is small but they are limiting the number of people. We found a couple of wines that we enjoyed.

If you're looking for a winemaking family who is passionate about the details - down to the genetics and ancestors of their grapes - then look no further! We would have loved a tour, but they were booked for the day (go early to make sure you get a spot!), but the tasting was a great second option! For $15 you try six wines from their very large list. They'll teach you about each one too. If you like bourbons or whiskey, I'd highly recommend their Cream Sherry - it won 12th best American wine at the Decanter Wold Wine Competition (The world's largest and most influential wine competition) in recent years (just enjoy slowly - it's 19%!!). Also, they make their wines very affordable! From $11-$40, everything is in reach! (They do have a $75 reserve Norton on the list as of May 2026.) You can enjoy the restaurant on site, shop alllll the wine accessories, relax on their patio above the hills of vines, play a game of corn hole, and pose for a few photos. They've been continuously farming (taking a break from wine only during prohibition) for 179 years! You won't regret a visit if you enjoy wine!

Several other couples who arrived around the same time were welcomed immediately, but we were left standing there without any acknowledgment. It was uncomfortable and made us feel overlooked in a way no quest should experience. I can't say why we were treated differently, but the contrast was hard to ignore. Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. So if you're familiar with wineries and good wine this will be quaint but not your place. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia.
