Ummmm.... Yes! It's the only answer to all of the questions. LOL Is it a hole in the wall? yes Is it a dive? yes Is the food good? yes Was it cheap? Yes Look, I needed a burger and fries in my life and I was looking for food in my area. Every burger spot had these gourmet $15 plus burger and that's not what I wanted. I wanted tasty, greasy, salty, etc. Found it at The Wienery. Parking is hard over there guys, truth be told. I lucked up with a spot right across the street. Walked in, said hi and was greated by a really pleasant guy. I honestly thought with burgers this cheap and place so divey that he'd be a jerk. LOL He said hey, put my stuff in a paper bag, chatted with me a sec and sent me on my way! Food was goood, gud, hit the spot.. all of it! Don't be like me and order it through DoorDash or any other app it offers you if you're Googling the place. Just call him directly. That's what he told me to do. I spent like $7 on a California burger and fries. Go get one too!

So I went in here recently, and I definitely put the "Wiener" in "Wienery" so to speak, but then I put the Wiener in a lot of things, as you know. Super cute little tiny hot dog shop in the Hipster part of Minneapolis not far from downtown. I stopped in her, as well as a couple of other places in this neighbourhood and it's definitely one of the trendy but also older little districts of Minneapolis, where you'll find a lot of quirky little places and tiny gems. This is one of those gems. The Chicago dog was good, but not amazing, and the price was about average. Wait time was a few minutes, but that was fine with me since it's a tiny little local place and I was just happy that people were coming in here. But it's definitely a nice place and I'll definitely be back here to try some of the other dogs. The Chicago was a few steps below what I expect from the best Chicago dogs in town, but the Twin Cities have a high standard for Chicago food, and this was still one of the better ones in town. Now I don't want to be whiny about the Wienery, so without further ado, I'm giving them a 5.

OVERALL: This is the definition of "hole in the wall". Delicious and quality food for a good price! Never would've expected it at all. ATMOSPHERE: What is a seemingly random location, you order at a walk up window. There's a cool mural on the side with some retro photos. FOOD: I ordered the Italian combo, it's a delicious Italian sausage with Italian beef on top. It's so filling and so good! We also ordered chili cheese fries and it is a hefty amount. Pro tip: you can make your chili spicy as well if you prefer. Everyone at the table loved what they got and it has such a wide variety you can't go wrong. They have so many options, even for vegetarians! PRICE: Man, this place is a steal and a half. For a hot dog combo it was $7.50 (hot dog, fries, drink) and for my Italian combo (lots of meat, flavor, and absolute deliciousness) it was $9. We split the fries so overall it was about a $11 meal for me, which it was so worth it! SERVICE: A local business operating with a son & pop. Wholesome family business that were so kind and went above and beyond. SAFETY: Masks and hand sanitizer. Also outdoor seating (may just be one table, but it counts!). Made sure everyone was social distance when not in the same party.

Hmmmm, well I am not quite sure where to begin. My husband and I LOVE going to hole in the wall random places. This place is a Wizard of Oz-ie, don't look behind the curtain, they were kind enough to let us use their "restroom" but I regret it. I am pretty sure I heard mice squeaking, my daughter asked why/where the chirping animal was caged, I didn't have the heart to tell her what it really was. My husband was entertained by the terror on my face when we returned so he wanted to ride it out. The food was tasty and filling. Fresh cut potatoes and hot dogs with a snap! I was stoked on my Chicago style dog and would have been comfortably satisfied had my husband not told me that he saw the cook sniff the coleslaw and dish it up, guess that means it was good? It was an experience and if I survive the sniff test coleslaw then no harm no foul. The food deserves 5 stars the operation got 3.

That's the sign I was looking for.

Great Vienna Beef Hot Dog done Chicago Style....the guy working (running solo) was very personable as well. A classic example of a dive from the Diners Drive-Ins and Dives show...been wanting to get here for awhile...glad I finally made it!

The Wienery is not your hipster cousin's trendy, line out the door, must try while you're in town eatery. It's just a good place to get a sausage. But each time I've been there I left feeling I made the right choice for lunch. When they're not sold out I always try to get the bratwurst with sauerkraut and onions and they do justice to that and any other of your classic favorites. The place might seem rustic at first, but that's just part of the gritty atmosphere they present. The morning after a meal at the Wienery I'm always happy, healthy and ready to go on my next Yelp adventure. Some suggestions for the menu: - The Hairy Brain with a Brat (if you like cheese) - The Warsaw with a Brat (for those with a more savory pallet) - The Upsetter with beef polish (Ron Swanson style) - Ray Dog with any (I really like onions) Additionally their fries are on the tasty side and their chili sides are pretty good as well. I do like their chili cheese fries, but they are very rich and on the filling side if you want to focus on your hot dog. The Wienery isn't a must visit, but if you're on the West Bank and craving a good sausage I highly recommend you stop by.

Another place that I've been wanting to go for awhile as I love a good dive. The place is definitely divey, and the dogs were good, but geez maybe try breaking out a swiffer once in awhile and how much could a gallon of paint set you back. The decor is eclectic, which is great for the vibe, but the run-down look of the place was distracting. Service was excellent; very welcoming. Food is prepared to order and the dogs were very good. The chili on my Manhattan Dog had a nice kick. And, the fries are very good. Glad I tried the place, but not sure I'd be in a rush to go back.

Outdoor order window is to the right of this.

Great place for a hot dog fix. We got the picnic dog, Manhattan, fries, and 2 drinks for all around only $12. The dogs were tasty with the right amount of toppings, and the fries were perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Indoor dining wasn't available, but there is an outdoor standing bar, along with a couple picnic tables and benches. The guy who runs the place has an efficient process, so it was only a short wait to get my order. I'll definitely be back!

Drive-in dog, half order of cheesy fries

$5 cheap dollars for a fine wiener (with fries) and a mouthgasm. I was satisfied. Food: -Drive-In Dog, vienna beef hotdog with coleslaw and chili & cheese with perfectly toasted sesame bun, fucking fantastic -Cheesy fries; the homemade fries are all apparently hand-cut and double fried, kudos for making it seem all special-sauce, but honestly the fries tasted just okay; however, huge portions for the price Service: -One-man show run by a super friendly and accommodating dude who reminded me of a young-hippy-farmer version of Jesus Go during off hours. It is a tiny ass dingy diner and you would have a long ass wait during regular lunch/dinner hours.

Looking for an old school greasy spoon with good, cheap food and colorful characters: Pat the owner and Zach the cook/counterman/all around dude. Great burgers--try the West Bank--and delicious dogs: give a go to the Drive-In and the Minneapolis.

Drive in fries, Chicago dog, and regular hot dog.

The restaurant is quite large and super cute. We were greeted and seated right away. The walls have fun little things written in chalk and it is very bright and cheery inside. We received the menu and waited a bit before our order was taken. We did not need to wait long for our food to arrive. My daughter and I ordered the same thing with slight variations--Two Eggs, Potatoes, and Toast. I chose the Hen Potatoes which were amazing! Tender on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside--not greasy at all. My daughter had the hash browns, which were just as good--not greasy, but perfectly crisp and flavorful. The seven grain toast and jam were great and our scrambled eggs were cooked just how we like. My daughter also ordered a fruit cup, which was filled with a bigger variety of fruit than she expected and she loved it. I ordered a side of bacon and it was delicious. While the food wowed us, our service was just okay. She was polite enough, but did not check on us until we were well into our meal. Thankfully, we didn't need anything. Our check and my payment were dealt with promptly, which we appreciated. We also ordered a caramel roll to go and were very glad we did. Super tasty and not overly sweet. If you are in the area, stop in. You will not regret it. The prices are higher, but it is worth every penny. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area.
