OMG, I think I'm IN LOVE. And this place is literally SO CLOSE to where we live now, I can walk there in just half an hour. (Probably good cuz you gotta work off the calories from those malts...) I actually saw this place advertised on a road sign for eateries to expect on the next exit. Usually those get covered in all the food chains like Taco Bell and junk, so my interest was piqued and I announced my enthusiasm to my hubbie that we try it. DELICIOUS. We arrived on a lovely sunny spring day, so we chose to dine outside on their patio area. The inside had a fun retro cafe aesthetic that I'm sure we'll enjoy during the cooler months at some point too. The staff was incredibly friendly and in a good mood, which added to my own happiness upon arrival. We were seated and given menus to study, and I do mean I had to thoroughly study it. Picking out what I wanted was TOUGH. Everything looked mouth-wateringly good, but I finally settled on the patty melt on the marbled rye with the waffle fries. Excellent choice, and it was so humongous of a portion that I ended up taking half home and reheating it in my air fryer another day. Love that! Hubbie and I shared a large chocolate malt, which they gave us two glasses to pour into. It was also delicious. My son loves burgers so we went here after his basketball game. He recommended we get the food to go and that turned out to be a brilliant idea because there was quite a long wait for seating on a Saturday at lunchtime with a tournament happening one mile away. We got our to-go order in less than 10 minutes! My son got the kids cheeseburger meal and really enjoyed it. The burger was a good size. The meal doesn't come with a drink and he asked for try a malt. He said it was really good. I ordered the burger with bacon and blue cheese. It was too heavy on the blue cheese but after taking most of it off, the burger was really good and filling! We shared some fries that were a little too soft for me, I'd probably order them extra crispy next time. The staff was really hard working and friendly! The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly. My husband and I happened to come across Snuffy's Malt Shop accidentally but we're glad that we did. Snuffy's turned out to a great find. It was right next to the gas station that we were going to. We were hungry and decided to stop and get a bite to eat. This a diner-style restaurant with a menu of the basics: hamburgers, chicken, fries, and onion rings, etc. And of course desserts, since it's in the name. We ordered the hamburger, fries, and the Oreo resees malt. The burger and fries weren't flavored very well, until you add condiments and salt at the table. Then they come alive with flavor. A large malt is big enough to share, so that's what we did. The malt was big on flavor and satisfied my sweet tooth. We were happy enough with the meal that we came back a few days later to try the onion rings and brownie ice cream sundae. Again, the food did not disappoint. Our server was nice and recognized us when we made a second stop. The manager can work on his people skills a bit. We were told that we were sitting in a closed section, when the table next to us was halfway done with their meal, and we were made to move. So I used to go to Snuffy's in Dinkeytown when I was in college every couple of months to get my calorie overload fix and treat myself after a long round of tests or finishing up homework of some sort. Now that I'm married and have kids, I can use them as an excuse to celebrate just because we want ice cream! Snuffy's is a great ode to days gone by and the old fashioned burger and malt joints that used to be prevalent in small towns. You can almost picture the poodle skirts and roller skates! Even with a change of scenery, service is still friendly and fun. If you are looking for light on calorie options, you don't. Embrace your inner glutton and load your malt up with different mix instead (you need to get a malt, that's a must here). My favorite is a Banana Butterscotch Peanut Butter Butterfinger malt. So good. The only thing it's missing is some good bourbon :) Sizes are big and a full order can easily serve 2 people. The food here pairs great with your ice cream. I highly recommend the onion rings and fresh French fries with a side of dips (dill dip for sure). The patty melt is a great classic but the Cowboy or Plaza burger are good choices too. I drove by and decided to stop in for a malt. It kind of gives the feel of an old diner. I got a half size chocolate malt and it was $4.50 which seemed reasonable in price. The shake was very filling. The other person I was with ordered a strawberry shake in the large size which came to be $7.00. It was made with real fruit which was awesome. Did take out and ordered at the counter which took about 10 min. The single sizes of the sides like onion rings, waffle fries and tater tots were HUGE! The brownie sundae was very big as well. We stopped in here for evening malts and were not disappointed! The atmosphere is adorable, I definitely want to come back for the full dinner experience. It would be the perfect spot for an old-fashioned date. The chocolate cherry malt was fantastic, and service was fast and very friendly. Early afternoon lunch, place wasn't busy. Service was fine, no problems. But seriously...$21? The malt was good. The "bacon cheeseburger". C'mon, at $10.95, that's what you're going to throw down? Pre made patty was flavorless on a toasted bun with 2 extremely tiny pieces of greasy bacon sitting on sopping wet pickles. Onion rings, which are a separate side as are the fries btw, were oddly wet and soggy on the inside, not very appetizing. I'm not trying to bash the place, but I wouldn't come here again. Me: the regular cheeseburger is 1/4 lb, How many oz is the kid one? FC: IDK, (shoulder shrug with blank stare). ME: could you ask? FC: asks and comes back responding, '8 pounds'. ME: 8 pounds? Food prep: 0 Man making the raw burger patties wore no gloves, picked up the cheese slices to put on the burger with bare hands, picked up lettuce and onions, with dame bare sales, never washed while I watched all this occur. Manager was leaning on the counter on his phone most of time, except when he was filling cups with ice from the ice bin using the cup(no scoop), with his bare hands. I grew up going to the Snuffys Malt Shop in Roseville, but I never tried this location so I decided to check it out. The restaurant is a nice size for one person or a big group of people. They have some booths but a lot of tables that can fit larger parties as well. I had a hard time choosing what to eat since I know their burgers are very tasty but historically I always ordered the Chicken sandwich with fried chicken so I went with that since it had been a while. They also offered quite a few great classic sandwiches as well including Grilled Cheese, BLT and many others. Important to note that the sandwiches do not include a side but you can order a single order of fries, onion rings, or waffle fries and also some loaded fries I think. The prices for the sides was a good price point and so were the sandwiches. I got a single order of fries which was a nice portion as well as the 3 sauces for $3. I like sauces and couldn't decide so it was a good way to go. I also ordered a half Malt which was only $4.50 and was a really nice size. I went old school with chocolate but there are TONS of choices! The service was friendly and warm, the food came out hot and with quality ingredients. What you see is what you get here! It took a little while to get service, but once we did, we had a very nice server who took care of us. Burgers and malts were very good, but the waffle fries tasted like old oil and were too greasy for me. The prices were very reasonable and the portions sizes large. It's kind old school inside but not so old school themed that it's everywhere and obvious. It's in the subtle details. Average to loud atmosphere which is great for families with young members. Menus are very 50's inspired and a good variety of burgers. They even have a Hawaiian burger I'm nervous to try but encourage others to give a chance. I got a California burger and it was great. Tasty bacon cheeseburger, with option of cheese. I went with bleu but American, Cheddar and others were available. Nothing else came on the burger, but I was able to add pickles and raw onions (they also had grilled) at no cost. Ordered a side of onion rings which were battered (not breaded), and good. I didn't get the malt, but my b.f. did and liked it very much. I could tell their malts are very popular given the number of people who a came for that alone. The inside looked newer and it was nice but a little loud. The burger was good and the fries were super hot and fresh. My only real complaint was that service was pretty slow. The place was poppin' on a Sunday at noon though and I only saw a couple servers. Even with it being so busy, we didn't have to wait to be seated -- that was great. THEIR FOOD. Thick milkshakes packed flavor. Tender-crisp waffle fries, not greasy. Juicy burgers seasoned just right - I find Smashburger burgers heavily overseasoned, for reference. The space was super busy, with tables filled the minute they were cleaned off. Servers and bussers hustling and bustling every which way, harried ones and beaming ones alike. They've had a busy month of adjusting, and it shows. The open kitchen area is clearly quite disorganized. Tons of confused faces behind the counter. No clear stations. Salads being made in line with the heat coming off of the grill - not good. Heads up: veggies wilt in heat. Regardless, the food is sublime. Both my Irishman and I agree - we've found a new regular burger spot. One single-serving of waffle fries and one Reese's milkshake were more than enough to round out our two customized Big Mike burgers and leave my 6' Marine and me way beyond stuffed.
