I came to Michigan unexpectedly due to a family emergency. I arrived late at the hotel, past…read more9:30pm, and had hoped to just get to my room and go to sleep. The first room I was given had hairs everywhere on the sheets, dirt smudges on the covers, and disgusting skin flakes everywhere. The second room I was moved to had hairs everywhere and little spiders in the sheets (see attached picture for one of the spiders I saw). I went down to the front desk and asked if house cleaning could change the sheets, or if I could be moved to another clean room. The front desk lady told me they had no house cleaning on staff at that time, and that she did not want to go up to the rooms and make sure the next one I got was clean. She then recommended I go somewhere else to spend the night. Management has refused to provide a refund, even though I did not spend the night and was essentially told to go somewhere else by their own staff. I will be disputing the charge but wanted to warn people of the service they may receive while they are here. I had an absolutely awful experience, am still trying to get my money back, and will never visit this location again.

I was told it's fine to cancel. Don't worry about it. Cancel my reservation at 12 o'clock. Now on January 29 I receive a charge on my credit card for my room stay and late cancellation. Called the hotel and the representative I spoke to was very nice. She said that she was given orders to tell everyone that's company policy and no cancellations are allowed before 24 hours.

Sheesh, talk about great value for the money!…read more Only qualm was the lack of a pool or hot tub The process was completely flawless for check-in. Employee Victoria was extremely accommodating and friendly. We brought my service dog and Victoria knows the ADA law Two free drinks per guest from 5:00 - 7:00, sometimes with appetizers Want an inexpensive dinner? If the MEPS recruits are lodging when you're there, you can eat dinner for $6 per person. That includes salad bar, vegetables, fries, sandwich, pasta, etc. Beverage included. No need to spend more on gas -- and you can eat in the comfort of your room. They have complimentary soda, coffee, hot chocolate and cappuccino available 24 hours Orange juice and apple juice is available in the morning via a separate self-serve machine next to soda and coffee/cappuccino/hot chocolate machines. Breakfast was very good, I was not expecting such a good complimentary breakfast. You can also get seconds. Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, Belgian waffles, toasts, bagels, cereal and more. Breakfast can also be made-to-order for a small charge. Complimentary USA Today at breakfast is a very nice touch Bathtub drain does not back up when taking a shower (big plus) And...cleanliness in the room was top-notch. I could tell housekeeping employees DO take pride in their work. I'm excited to return. This hotel is a gem, er, Lansing's best-kept secret!

I was put in the main hall adjacent to the front desk which was so nice as a solo female traveler. The room has a sitting room and bedroom slightly separate. The couch is filthy with clear dirt stains and the cushions are all misshapen, looks like it's from someone's basement that is 5 years old. There is something in microwave and the glass plate from microwave is sitting on the counter above it with the timer still showing 9 seconds left to cook. I tried to turn on the hot water in sink which took over 3 minutes to run hot. The shower barely has any water pressure coming out and there are purple stains on the wall. The nightlight for the bathroom is so helpful if it would stay lit, it goes on when you press it but doesn't stay lit. This morning I got up and went to get a cup of coffee at the breakfast in the bright, airy lobby. It was arguably the worst cup of watered down coffee I've ever had. There was one plastic pitcher of milk kept in a dirty fridge with ice build up in the back. My room fridge was the same - do you know how old a fridge has to be or how neglected to have ice all over the inside? Defrost people, defrost is a thing. I stayed across the street the last two nights at a Fairfield and it was so much nicer and less expensive. 4 coffee urns, 3 steel creamer jugs nicely labeled and drinkable delicious coffee. I unexpectedly had to spend another night so booked this hotel because it looked lovely online and I didn't realize it was in the exact same location. This place was more expensive and definitely not worth it. Coffee and cleanliness are such basic things, most everything else gets overlooked for these two essentials. I sincerely hope someone addresses these things to make it better for other travelers.

Check out other review sites for this hotel. It deserves better than the multiple single star Yelp!…read morereviews--at least now. It's true it is an old building with worn decor and furnishings, but during my visit it was clean and a terrific value-especially through Booking.com. Firstly, this was built as a Holiday Inn Holidome, which HI used 40 years ago to bridge the gap between serving business travelers and families. So there are conference rooms and an indoor pool--which was in service during my visit--and a whirlpool which--was not in service. There were a couple of arcade style video games and a small, workable workout room. There's also a full service seafood restaurant and bar attached to the property However, if you do want to get outside of the hotel, there are a multitude of fast food and sit down restaurants nearby along Saginaw Avenue. There is also plenty of shopping, including a Walmart within a mile. Furnishings in my room were worn--a chair armrest was severely used and a dresser drawer wouldn't close. But the room was clean and quiet. Indeed there seem to be fewer than three dozen cars in the parking lot, which likely accounted for a good part of the quiet.
