This hidden gem is a well known spot for motorcycle enthusiasts. They have everything from tamales to panini sandwiches to pasta salads. (Of course they also have all sorts of snacks and drinks.) They also sell hand warmers by the register which I always buy on cold mornings when I'm riding. They are compact and fit inside your gloves like the ones people use while snowboarding or skiing. BEWARE: They charged me 94$ for a pack of Oreos, a red bull, two basic deli sandwiches, two microwave enchiladas, and two brownies ...... how lol ?!?! They threw away the recipe and I felt to awkward to ask to see why on earth it was so expensive. Yesterday my kids and I came to get a quick bite to eat. The deli was closing soon so I didn't want to bother the young man with making sandwiches so I grabbed some food from their deli case. I got the pulled pork sandwich and a corn dog, got chips and drinks as well. The experience was good, everyone there was super nice. We ate our food and a few hours later my son and I felt extremely nauseous.... We got food poisoning! I've been here before and never had an issue! I love their sandwiches but this is not ok! Not sure what happened but my family and I are sick now. This was the only thing we ate yesterday. A magical gas station in the middle of nowhere. The best way to describe Skywood Trading Post is with a short story: One year ago, I took my girlfriend on our second date, a hike near Redwood City. On our way to our destination, I thought it would be a fun idea to grab some sandwiches for an impromptu picnic. No deli in sight, I pulled to Skywood Trading Post thinking it was a simple gas station. Expecting a small convenience store with some pre-made tiny sandwiches, I was blown back to a mini-mart type layout with a full deli counter. My date and I ordered sandwiches, and with amazing service, received giant orders of food, for under $10 each. We took our food on our hike, found a beautiful log to sit, and enjoyed these scrumptious treats, piled high with meats and cheeses. This experience was so amazing, that one year later, we tracked down the Skywood Trading Post just to enjoy another beautiful picnic together. read more

Nice little store. It's been here for decades. Gas Station and some newly remodeled bathrooms. A deli, many kinds of cold beverages, plus snack foods. And it's a great location for motorcycles and cars, where you can see some pretty cool and sometimes rare vehicles. (The spot is known as "4 corners" due to the intersection of two different small highways. It's a great meeting spot.) You can get gas here, but you'll pay "San Francisco prices" meaning it's going to be a lot! read more

If you are going to take 50 minutes to make a panini then give your customers a heads up when they order. And when your customer politely asks for a status at the 40 minute mark don't look at them as if they just asked you a strange question. They would like a simple update since you never told them to expect such a long wait. There was no line to order the sandwich so there was no way to know to expect such a long wait. Sort of an odd find across from Alice's restaurant at the intersection of 84 and 35 (Skyline Blvd). This place was some what like a coffee and tea shop, somewhat like a deli, somewhat grocery, but also sort of a convenience store with odds and ends on sale everywhere. I don't find places like this often these days since many stores and grocers are becoming more specialized and more niche to fulfill tiny segments of markets they can still get into while Walmart bombards the town with ridiculously cheap prices on everything else. However, this market, nested and safely tucked away in the woods seems to have a different idea. Their coffee isn't particularly good, their tea is just tea that you can find anywhere; but they serve a variety of food, sandwiches and other edibles that fulfill your desire for a snack or a full on lunch if you're caught somewhere between civilization and the vast depth of the California forestry. Things are a bit more expensive here, but where else within a 30 mile radius can you find a good cup of hot tea? read more

Location - The corner of highways 84/35 aka 2 awesome roads aka car / bike playground. For any other SoCal people, this is basically Rock Store & Skyline is our Mulholland. People that ride often tend to park here because Alice's gets crowded, so you'll see cooler stuff here. Pro-Tip - If you can't decide, go down 84 West, its the best road of the 4. Also, the bathroom at Alice's is legit if you can't man up and use the porter potties. read more

Updates! I love this little store. Apart from packing an impressive selection of last-minute-needs into their small space, Skywood Trading Post has been adding to their wares to suit the mountain foodie's needs. I was stoked to see that they now carry local organic Straus milk and yogurt. In addition, it sounds like they are buying new produce storage so that they can offer more local organic veggies and fruits. Yay! I'm now hopeful that, between this store and the weekly farmer's market, I won't need to make as many runs down the hill for household staples. As someone from the neighborhood, I am impressed with Skywood's efforts to cater to the community. One of the owners mentioned that they are very open to requests from patrons. A small market for us up here in the woods and those driving through. I usually stop here occasionally for their sandwiches and deli section. I drive out of my way from La Honda to support them after several less then positive experiences in my local store. They have just enough of what you need. Love the pump upgrades and find myself fueling more often here now. My kids always love the character water bottles, simple snacks and of course Hot dogs. I love the pesto pasta, dolmas and olives. This review is to you Ms. Owner of Skywood Trading Post aka STP. You might remember me. I am the one you came screaming up to in your parking lot last Sunday May 18, 2014. You were in your Mercedes screaming out your window at me. Do you remember now? Let me just refresh your memory and also let everyone I can reach, know of your bad behavior. I love the internet. STP for those that do not know is a market/parking lot/meeting point for hundreds of motorcycles and exotic cars on a daily basis. Tourists come to take pictures and videos of our bikes and cars. Enthusiasts talk amongst themselves before setting off on their days ride/drives. "We'll meet you at STP!" we say on our Forums, Facebooks, Text Messages, and Emails etc. Everyone knows STP. It was a beautiful Sunday morning and for the 2nd year in a row, we were celebrating the life of a lost rider. STP was the first meeting point to gather everyone for quick announcements and then set off on our motorcycle rides for the big gathering at the beach. For our event, there were about 60 riders however; the parking lot was packed as usual with moto-enthusiasts out for their days ride. We finished our announcements and were about to head out all within about 45 minutes, when all of a sudden a black Mercedes came screeching up to me and the wife of the deceased rider, screaming out her window at both of us. I realized she was the Owner of STP when she snipped at me and said "a letter asking my permission to use my parking lot would have been nice, next year go across the street!" We tried to calmly tell her that we were leaving but she kept shouting at us telling us that we were ruining her business. I walked away. She got out of her car and began yelling at all of us again telling us to quit blocking her store. None of us were blocking her store. Riders were looking at her like she had flipped her lid. She even took it a step further as I was in her store buying something for my son to eat and started screaming in the middle of the store saying that we were ruining her business. She was such a lunatic that my son hid behind me. He's 8 by the way. Even the man working behind the counter said "LET IT GO!" I love that guy! So, with that said let me say this to you Ms. Owner...Had you walked up to me nicely or in an adult manner, you would not be receiving this review. That morning and like every weekend morning that I stop there on my motorcycle, I patron your store along with HUNDREDS of Motorcyclists. We ALL did that morning. Your store STP, is advertised HUNDREDS of times via FACEBOOK, MOTORCYCLE FORUMS, TEXT MESSAGES AND EMAILS to thousands of people on a daily basis because of US! I can only surmise that you do a great business because of the Moto-Community and I am a huge voice in that community. Maybe you were having a bad day however, it did not justify your behavior towards me whatsoever. I will tell you what, I will give you the opportunity to apologize. I went in to buy a bottle of water last week and couldn't believe how I was treated. The sign clearly showed the water was $2, but the cashier rang it up for $2.75. I said that the price was $2, and he said he didn't care what the sign said, 'he could charge me anything he wanted.' I again said the sign was $2, and he said, 'so what?' I asked to talk with the manager and he said he was the manager. I don't know if that was true, but I don't plan to shop there again. I can't help but think he added an extra charge to my purchase since I am a woman, as I watched him help several men and he was friendly and didn't overcharge them. What a disgrace. The cashier was a young (20 something) white male with short brown hair. If the owner sees this, you might want to talk with him about his interpersonal skills, which are seriously lacking. I have been coming up here for years, and I have always been treated like family. Meeting up here is my "mini- vacation" from the real world down below, and the riding in the mountains has been known now as "god's country". I was quite surprised to see the review below by Marci about the reaction of the owner of the store. So much so that I had to ask them what went on that day. I understand now that there was a meet for a group of riders, and that it put pressure on the parking scenario is what I gathered. However, when mention of purchasing a product and citing the screaming and yelling in front of your son, the staff inside seemed a bit surprised. Even the charming fellow your cited saying "Let it go" didn't seem to recall the screaming that took place inside of the store. I dont know what went on at the parking lot, or even inside the store that day. I wasn't there, however when we all get together at a spot, we would like to know and feel comfortable with the owners of the establishment, so I had to get to the bottom of it. I would suggest that you and the owner speak with one another on the phone and squash this between the two of you. If there was a misunderstanding, or miscommunication about the organization of your event, then find a way to for the two of you to get something in writing via email in the future. I understand from your piece that emotions were flared, and I like the fact that you left your contact information to be able to move on with this dilemma. However giving ultimatums in any scenario creates sense of feeling threatened and trapped and doesn't seem to be a progressive move forward. Might I suggest "Please feel free to contact me because I felt offended by your behavior and after replaying the events as they took place, I felt like you owe me an apology". A small store and deli on skyline blvd, usually swarmed by bikers like me and skyline drivers. Their breakfast is amazing. I feel that this store is not getting the publicity it needs. The items on the menu were made fresh in front of my eyes. I had a breakfast sandwich and a break fast burrito . I thought it was going to be another quick pre made breakfast heated up fast in front of me, but I was pleasantly surprised to see all the ingredients being cut and cooked in front of me. Try breakfast burrito with spicy sauce --- awesome. Don't underestimate the size, it is really filling . Of course the store carries all sundry items that you might the necessity suddenly in the santa cruz mountains. There is lot of parking, gas and air. First of all, the guys who work at Skywood are AMAZING! My car wouldn't start the other night and one of them offered to jump it for me using his cool battery jump-start device thing. It didn't work unfortunately so he then offered to read my car's computer codes with another gadget! He gave me some helpful information that I can give to my repair guys. This funky little post at the intersection of highways 84 and 35 just across from Alice's Restaurant serves a lot of needs to those who live in the area and those simply passing through. A gas station, a deli, a grocery store, a place to simply pick up snacks and drinks before continuing onward, its hard to know how many people pass through the doors of this place. Everyone who does though is greeted warmly like they've walked into an elite club house. A steady stream of regulars milled about while my family was there. Silicon Valley engineers could study the proprietor of the place for their work on voice recognition software. As he tended to me, customer after customer passed through the doors leaving with coffee and nourishment after announcing, "Put it on my tab!" He responded to each and every one by name without ever looking up at them, "Sure thing, Dave!" " You've got it,Tim!" "No problem Andy!" The only time he changed his tact was when this guy with gorgeous shoulder length silver hair dressed head to toe in bikers leather got the response, "No way! I'm putting it on Andy's tab, he owes you!" Laughter broke out behind the counter. Outside the post is the most amazing parade of lovingly cared for motorcycles. Many of their riders stroll around the parking lot comparing notes on maintenance and the ability to secure parts. I enjoyed that in the center of this scene of leather clad rebels was a little card table where a mom and her kids were selling their homemade honey. Sky wood is our local go-to for groceries when we don't have time to go over the hill. They have a good selection. The prices are higher than what you would pay on the Bayside, but that is the price of convenience for local groceries. The staff is helpful and friendly and during COVID they have been careful to follow all of the CDC and local guidelines. They hire great local people. Just go! read more
