I've been to this restaurant twice. The service has been excellent with friendly waitstaff and quick wait times. The food is just ok...at least for the dishes I tried (spaghetti dinner and egg benedict ). The spaghetti sauce was pretty salty to me. It may have been because sauce was sitting in heated unit all day. Maybe the chef likes a lot of salt- I don't know. It was acceptable but would I order again?...probably not. The egg benedict was not authentic because it was composed of grilled toast, fried eggs, what looked like grilled deli ham, and a hollandaise sauce that seemed like it was made from a mix. The authentic version has English muffin, Canadian bacon, poached eggs, and a sauce made from scratch. It tasted ok but I wouldn't order it again either. My food was delivered piping hot and my waitress was very attentive. The place was clean and comfortable to be in. I might try again and just get basic stuff like fried eggs with bacon or just a burger. A lot of people are very loyal customers and many people have said the breakfast is good. I went here for breakfast with 8 other people on a Friday at 7:30 AM. They seated us quickly and we're able to accommodate a large party. I ordered one of the specials that included 2 eggs, 2 pieces of French toast, home fries, 2 slices of bacon, and 2 sausages. Other people in my party ordered omelets. The food was cooked to order, and everything tasted very good. My eggs were perfectly over easy, and the French toast was really good! The service was fast and friendly. And, the price was right, very inexpensive! I'd definitely return. Also, my father goes here once a month and gets the Windmill omelet, which he highly recommends. read more

This is a great place to grab breakfast. The food I've had has always been fresh. Be prepared to wait a while after church on sunday, as the place is packed! Once seated, sometimes it takes a while for a s server to come see you, but once they do, the experience is a quick one as they turn tables fast. read more

went here on a Saturday morning as we were visiting NH from Fl and looking for local flavor. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I got the corned beef hash benedict, The home fries were excellent, but the hash was canned and I don't know what the sauce on the top was but it wasn't hollandaise...it actually seemed like chicken gravy. We needed a restaurant that was open Monday evenings for our group meetings. The Windmill fulfilled that requirement, and offers reasonably priced, varied meals with excellent service. For a group, it is ideal. A request for "separate checks" was not a big deal. They don't automatically tack on a tip -- you make your own decision in that regard. It was disappointing. The omelette with spinach and feta seemed like something poured out of a carton with feta tucked in the middle. It tasted of grill. Potatoes were deep fat fried and not traditional grilled home fries. I declined toast. If I had ordered raisin toast $1 extra. Coffee not premium or special. Server noticed I wasn't eating and asked "what's wrong". I didn't see anything else to substitute on the menu so I didn't complain - just left most of the meal. No real maple syrup available for purchase or I would have tried a pancake. My husband had eggs, toast and the greasy potato. He was hungry and ate it but wished he hadn't. We went here years ago and had a poor experience but had seen people voted for best breakfast in Cappies awards and thought we'd give it another chance. Not going for a third try. First off if I could give 0 stars I would!!! The family and I stopped here after the space museum in concord, because I am not a fan of chain restaurants and like to keep money in the community. It was lunch time so I got a cheese burger and fries. The burger I ask for medium, and I got it WELL done. No lettuce, tomatos, onions nothing. The bread was grilled so much it was not edible. The fries are good but only got 10 little fries ( yes i counted). My wife got the turkey sandwich, which was two deli pieces of turkey slapped between to pieces of sandwich bread( no Mayo,vegies anything). My son got the chicken fingers which or surprise was very good!! He got 5 and about 15 fries. All this for $35 and we still left hungry!! The help is a joke, we saw or server twice. Once to take order( in which we had to share a menu because they did not have any more), and once for the bill that she gave us a few bites into our meal. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! read more

The Windmill has been the first place my wife and I think of when wanting to go out for breakfast for a few years now, but over the last few visits we are getting more and more dissapointed. Rarely do we have to wait for a seat and usually within a minute or two we are given menus and asked for our drink order. The coffee is always very good and free flowing. Lately the food is becoming the dissapointing factor. Homefries are made in very large batches and just sit on the grill to become overcooked and dry. Eggs over easy should not have the white part of the egg still clear and runny. Toast was burnt last time we went there and covered in dripping butter. Would also suggest juices be a little larger as it is hardly a swallow. I hope things improve there and the Windmill becomes our favorite breakfast place again soon, but for now we are looking elsewhere. read more

The Windmill Family Restaurant is a cheap family diner with good food and casual feel about it.You get to be seated anyway you like but the front is the best if you want to actually be served.I sat near the back and it took forever to get served.The pricces are very resonable and not expensive at all. The clam chowder was very good with giant chunks of potato but there could have been more clam.I ordeered the fish & chips.The "chips" were warm and youcan definatley tell they were homemade but in a good way.They tasted crispy and potatoey.The fish was deep fried and served with a tartar dipping sauce.They were very crispy and tasted very good.The service however,was another story.They walked right past me and my daughter many times when we were clearly ready to order.When we had finished our food waitresses walked past us many times.I spent $25.00 for two meals,a sprite.and coffee.Very cheap.I would have given it four stars if not for the bad service. read more

Stopped on a spur of the moment (which I always regret). Family hungry, couldn't think of any other family dining place. I got the sausage ravioli, "child portion" spaghetti for 23mo old and fiancee got the lasagna. Ravioli obviously from a food service, lasagna had pools of yellow oil on sauce pooling and mostly noodles. "Child portion" was big enough for me to eat and be full. Waitress didn't bus table of salad bowls even after delivering main courses and we ended up putting them on window sill. Sodas are 1 refill only. Only reason I left a 15% tip ($3.70 on a $33.30 bill (that was including state tax)) was because my daughter painted the place with spaghetti she couldn't eat (too spicy for her, fine for adults). The Windmill family restaurant has been a classic Concord tradition for more than 20 years. The breakfast is great, the coffee is great, all the staff is super friendly, and the prices, not bad at all. My sister and I got 4 eggs, 4 bacon slices, 2 pieces of french toast, sausage, home-fries, toast, and two coffees for under $16! Part of that meal was the two-plate special. A group of us went to the Windmill for a late supper. Before we entered we noticed dead flowers in three pots right next to the entrance. Inside I went to wash my hands. The stench was overpowering in the women's room. It smelled like they have a sewage back up problem. The door to the bathroom was covered in grime and I passed my hand over it to see if it was really dirt. Yes! It was so disgustingly dirty I knew I did not want to stay. The hand sink had not been cleaned in a long, long time. I told the waitress I was sick and had to leave. I literally was. So we did not have any food. We left quickly. I can not eat in a place that does not have a clean bathroom. What does the kitchen look like? There was 1 couple in the dining room and the parking lot was empty at 7:30 pm. read more

Great classic diner experience, drove 3 hrs to meet my daughter for brunch (she drove 2) and just rolled the dice on this place. Very happy; service was quick and pleasant, coffee was excellent, food arrived hot and tasty in 2 minutes! Staff let us camp out at our table and chat long after our brunch was done, even though the place was filling up with lunch crowd. My husband and I had breakfast this morning at the Windmill. We have been going there for years and were fairly happy but today the bacon on my plate looked like they scrapped it of someone else's plate and it had bits of egg mixed in it. It was so overcooked and just in crumbles. My husbands was cooked nice and flat and in long pieces like it should be.... They cook the home fries in the deep fry which we have never liked but tolerated. We will not be going there again. EVER! read more

I go in for dinner every Friday night with my wife for the last 5 years since we moved to concord. I've never had a bad meal or bad service! The servers are always very pleasant and well spoken young adults. A well known local family runs the restaurant and they're more than willing to help you out if you have any problems or cater to any need you may have. They're always so polite and friendly! Theyll do almost any omelette you can imagine for breakfast. Belgian Waffles, pancakes French toast with strawberries, blueberries, Ice cream the works. Long story short they're food is amazing!!! And they have without a doubt the best prime rib I've ever tasted. My wife and I are retired and go out to eat quite often and I have never had a better tasting prime rib anywhere in my life. Every weekend they cook a prime rib special. It's a thick cut bone in or boneless prime rib with the most flavorful au jus either of us have ever tasted. It's just the right amount of flavor and a larger than life prime rib cut which is the reason we go back every Friday night. All in all I recommend the windmill for anyone looking for a quick and tasty meal breakfast lunch or dinner and it's cheaper than most places around because it's not a franchise.
