Since not much was going on at 10am on a Wednesday in April, we walked around a little bit and then found Mi Vida, which we stopped in to get a little refreshment. The cafe is small, but adorable, and the employees were super nice. I ordered an Americano with oat milk and the barista was so cool in asking me how much milk I wanted because, as she put it, "I know how important the color of my coffee is when I order it". Also got a key lime scone to go which was lovely and not overly sweet. Just fyi, parking lot is small and shared with other businesses, so be aware of that.

The pastries were fresh, moist and memorable. Of course I had to ask the service desk who supplies them. I found out they were from The Sugaree, so I had to stop by on my way home to see what else they had on the menu. So I walk into The Sugaree and not only do they have pastries, there's a whole dining room, a full menu with breakfast bite, specialty sandwiches, fresh bread, and so much more. I ordered a cinnamon roll to go. It was so delicious. The Sugaree is a hidden gem, tucked away, serving up deliciousness.

That's the beauty of this bakery--it's a chain, yes, but the consistency is what keeps me coming back. I have yet to be disappointed. Of course, I had to stop at this Hilton Head location--and I didn't come empty-handed. Food connects people, and bringing pastries to your host is always a winning move. I picked up three different varieties of their famous croissant-donut style pastries (similar to the well-known cronut): * Chocolate * Tiramisu * Mango And I added two large almond croissants that were beautifully filled, flaky, and indulgent. Everything looked fresh, full, and irresistible. The setup inside is easy and efficient. It's self-serve: you grab a tray, line it with parchment, use the tongs, and select whatever catches your eye--from baguettes to cakes to coffee drinks. Checkout was quick, Apple Pay was accepted, and the whole experience felt smooth and well organized. The space was clean, friendly, and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. Bottom line: Whenever you see a Paris Baguette on your radar, pull over. It's dependable, delicious, and perfect for picking up pastries to share--or to treat yourself.
