The food was delicious and there are tables with griddles to make your own pancakes, which is pretty cool. The atmosphere is very bright, which may be an issue for those with hangovers. Lol Knocking off a star because our server is very unfriendly. She's all business, not smiling or saying good morning or asking how our day is going, nothing. With that said, I would come here again and hope someone else would serve us.

To start our waitress was AWESOME! She was so sweet and she kept calling me "baby" and it just made me smile. She was the definition of southern hospitality. The food was great. We had a group of 6 and everyone loved their food. My only complaint was a wind chime attached to a busy door which drove us all crazy because it was nonstop. Highly recommend this cafe though.

The inside of the restaurant is very eclectic, it's got an older hippie vibe to it with lots of faded colors. The server we had was pretty good, checking in on us frequently and he gave us good recommendations. For breakfast, we got a hot table, and some of the pancake batter so we can make our own pancakes, because that's awesome! Don't get me wrong; you take me to the grocery store and do I want to bag my own groceries? no. But cook our own pancakes, seems fun with your kid. The pancakes were good, and getting to see the art my daughter came up with was awesome. I got the black and blue sea grits, and they were pretty good. I thought there were some patches of grits that were pretty plain. Maybe if I'd have gotten some extra sauce, I could've mixed that in better so it wasn't bland at any point. A fun restaurant and worth the experience if you're gonna make your own pancakes.

Flavor was amazing and Trinity our server was super nice to the band. Down south vibes and the biscuit is sooo fluffy and full of goodness.

Enjoyed the sandwiches. Classic BLT and Turkey Reuben. Both great. Enjoyed sitting outside and watching passerby's

My mother and I decided to stop in for breakfast during our girls trip to Savannah. It wasn't crowded and doesn't look like much from the outside, but this was the best breakfast we had during our trip! We both have strict gluten free diets and this place had tons of options! I ordered "the traitor" and substituted the biscuit for gluten free bread. The poached eggs and hollandaise sauce were the best I've ever had! I'd rate my breakfast a 10/10. My mother ordered "the clucker and the hen house" and she said it was delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the hash browns were well seasoned. On top of the food being great, the service was top notch as well! We will definitely be back!

I decided to dine at The Funky Brunch Café in Savannah since it was conveniently located near where I was staying on Broughton Street. I saw the griddles at many of the tables and loved the unique concept of making your own pancakes at the table, so, on the recommendation of our server, Kenya J., I ordered the Flippin' Funky at the Table. Of course, I couldn't stop at just pancakes and I added a single sunny-side-up egg to round out the meal. A cup of freshly squeezed orange juice paired perfectly with everything. Lots of families at the restaurant and despite it being a busy Sunday morning and getting busier and busier, Kenya was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Cute place - the prices were reasonable, and both the food and the experience were memorable. Five stars - I'd definitely return!

What a fun and tasty breakfast!! Nice outdoor patio and cool inside space too. We tried Toast yesterday and this place has Better food and way better prices! If you're trying to decide choose this spot! Gigi was very helpful and nice!

One night stay in Savannah so was looking for a spot for breakfast before hitting the road. I came across The Funky Brunch Cafe so decided to check it out. I got there just before 9am and it was still pretty empty. The hostess was seating the couple in front of me and saw I was alone and just said you go sit at the bar. I followed them in and asked if that was my only option. She asked what? And I asked if solos had to sit at the bar. There were only about 4 tables with people at them so it wasn't like they were hurting for tables; another lady overheard and said he can have a table. I was seated and got a polite server pretty quickly. After asking for recommendations, I settled on the Hangover. This was a bowl of hash browns with bacon, cheese, 2 eggs, topped with sausage gravy. Then you get a choice of toast or biscuit. The biscuit was very fluffy and tasted great. I was a bit confused about a strange taste in the meal however. There wasn't much if any seasoning but salt & pepper were on the table so that was fine. But there was an odd aftertaste from the gravy. It was almost like an anise/licorice aftertaste so it took away from me loving the dish. I noticed some of the tables had griddles inset in them and saw a family making their own pancakes. That's a fun experience but wasn't offered as an option for me, which was ok. I'd consider going back on a future trip, but there are plenty of other choices to consider as well.

It's one of our favorite downtown breakfast spots, and we only get the build your own breakfast sandwich with a biscuit. Never misses. Customer service always good and it's in the part of Broughton that's easier for parking.

Omg! In Savannah you have to dine here! Best ambiance and service. Stepped outside of my comfort zone ordered the salmon, eggs, cream cheese and capers omlet explosion of flavor best food in forever. My cousin had the Poisidieon Salad out of this world. Drowned with a carafe of peach mimosas.

Came here on a Saturday for brunch around 11:30am. We were greeted and added our name to the list and was seated within 20 min. (The hostess did not seem to want to be there sadly, and that was my first impression). Luckily our waitress was a breath of fresh air on that cloudy morning. We got a mimosa carafe to share, and then I ordered the veggie omelet with the pancake as my side. Unfortunately, the food wasn't any better than iHop and the portions left much to be desired. The omelet didn't have any seasoning and the pancake was pretty blah. Overall, it was just okay.

Server was super sweet and helpful, was a busy Saturday morning so some food items took a little longer. Funky bread was delicious. Grits were not mixed well but ok, the topping/mix in was delicious and made the dish

I was debating between the Fried green tomato BLT or the Caprese Grilled cheese then our server Kristin suggested the mussels and that is what I ended up with and I am so glad I did. These were absolutely the best mussels I've ever had. The sauce was not the traditional garlic/shallot wine sauce but had more tomato and basil reminiscent of warm bruschetta. I had to borrow my husbands spoon to get every bit of that sauce after I finished my mussels. My husband had the famous shrimp and grits which he absolutely loved. He noted it wasn't overpowered with sausage like most other restaurants do but had a perfect balance of flavor. My mom got the lamb burger and also loved every bite. She loved lamb so as soon as she saw that she had no doubt what she was going to order. Both my husband and mom loved every bite. I can see why The Public Kitchen is so popular. The restaurant has some indoor and outdoor seating with a mix of tables and banquets along the walls. It was comfortable without being too crowded. This was my first visit to The Public but It definitely won't be my last.

The refund came through exactly as he said it would. To be clear, the food on my visit genuinely missed, and I'm not pretending otherwise. But Tyler responded publicly, owned it, and followed through completely. That kind of accountability is rare, and it's what earned the bump. Credit where it's due on the space, too -- the ambiance is genuinely great. Warm, candle-lit dining room, an open kitchen, a well-stocked bar, and a covered patio that had a real buzz to it. It's a spot that looks and feels like somewhere you want to be, which is exactly why I'd give the kitchen another shot based on how the owner runs this place. --- Original review (2 stars): Disappointing birthday dinner. Came in for my birthday and left underwhelmed. Our server Troy was the one bright spot -- professional and attentive all night. Caesar salad: Several bitter pieces of lettuce, and no black pepper offered or available. Faroe Island salmon: Overly buttery like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The shishito cream sauce was way too acidic -- tasted like uncooked wine or vinegar. Crispy rice cakes were bland and a strange pairing (rice blocks with salmon?). The baby bok choy was decent until the sauce drowned it out. Braised beef short rib: Tender but flavorless. The mashed potatoes tasted old, not fresh that evening. To top it off, my wife had arranged ahead of time for the birthday dessert to be brought out -- the message never reached Troy, so that moment never happened. Troy deserved better than what the kitchen sent out.
