Visited this restaurant while vacationing with my family on Tybee for breakfast. We were shocked at how busy it was around 10am but it being a weekend during the summer, we should have expected that. The restaurant itself is definitely a neighborhood dive of its own. You can tell that it's been around for a long time with little visual upgrades, but as long as the food is hot and the team is friendly - who cares about the fancy aesthetics! (Not me) When we entered, we were greeted and told them how many were in our party. And then sweet Auntie disappeared and never came back LOL rumor has it, she still has not returned lol. But another sweet young lady asked us again and gave us a number to signify our space in line. After about 10-15min, our number was called and we had a seat in the back room. A Waiter came to our table and quickly took our drink orders, returning shortly after with a tray of drinks. The menu has some great classic breakfast options, as well as brunch. They even have a buffet that was getting a lot of action. Not from me though... I'm good on that in this world of germs! We all opted for different meals, I went with the big breakfast as it paired sweet and savory, just what I prefer. The portions were generous, I'll give them that. My eggs and grits were pretty legit. I've had some great grits and some trash grits, I'd definitely give their version a B. The bacon was a bittt too crispy for me but I'm really weird about my bacon and I feel like normal people like crispy bacon lol so that's a personal problem. But that pork sausage? No way. I don't know what it was about the flavor but I couldn't handle swallowing it. Not sure what happened there. My pancakes were delicious! All in all, a basic breakfast experience that fulfilled its duty of filling our bellies up for the beach. read more

1st time here, the food is good, I always enjoy a wonderful breakfast and it's been a while since I have eaten corn beef hash. The service is good food came quickly and the waitress took our drink order the moment we sat down, it is Monday the weekend rush is over but still a good crowd. When you step into Sunrise, you have the feeling that you took a step back in time. There is a long counter with stools for diners who might enjoy watching the cooks work their flat-tops. There are plenty of booths and formica-topped tables with wooden chairs. And there are kind waitresses and waiters who work with incredible energy and efficiency to end your hunger. Arriving on a weekday, we were directed to seat ourselves and within minutes, a waitress came by to get our drink orders. We reviewed the menu heavy on breakfast dishes (and noticed breakfast buffet deal of $13.95 that was offered on weekends that is surely to a big draw). Four of us got pancakes or waffles and one of us got a dish that must have been designed with vegetarians in mind of hash browns smothered in veggies with upcharges for cheese, eggs or breakfast meats. Our food arrived in minutes. The waitress quipped the cooks are fast and they are. The pancakes and the waffles were well received. The ham side ordered by one person was not sliced from a true ham but more like a deli ham. The shredded hash browns would have benefitted from a few more minutes on the flat-top but they were still solid. The veggies on top of the hashbrowns were soon soaked in hot sauce and while the broccoli may have been frozen, everything tasted good mixed together. The downside of Sunrise came in the form of whipped spread (vegetable oil) offered instead of butter and american cheese as the option for the hash brown deluxe dish. Real butter and cheddar cheese would have made a BIG difference in the taste of the pancakes, waffles, toast and the hash brown dish. That is why I gave Sunrise three stars. I would highly encourage the owners to reconsider the decision to use vegetable oil based substitutes for cheese and butter and earn a 4 star review. There are so many things to love about Sunrise. Our meal moved smoothly and the waitress handled a take out order for us that was waiting on the counter when we paid our check. We tipped 25%, remembering the direction from "LIfe's Little Instruction Book" that breakfast was a less expensive meal but the work for waitresses did not change... so always add a little more. A very nice place to have breakfast. Much better than the awful Breakfast Club. I had the Irish omelette: it was wonderful! Corned beef, onion, mushroom and eggs, with grits and toast. The bacon and sausage was borrowed from my amigo. Will try to go there again someday. read more

What an awesome spot to grab breakfast on the island! We walked in and were stunned at how this place just throws it back to a 60s or 70s diner feel. Think Waffle House but classier. Lots of 2 top tables and a bunch of bigger booths and tables! They also have a bar to sit at. They have an open kitchen where your food is cooked right in front of you. I ordered the breakfast burger with hashbrowns. It was amazing. A nice sausage patty that melts in your mouth on top of a toasted english muffin with an egg and cheese. My partner ordered the big breakfast, and it was big and tasty. The service was awesome, we were sat immediately, and the food came out lightning fast. Almost too fast, lol. I will absolutely come back to this establishment more than once in the future, and recommend you stop here during your visit! read more

First time coming here and it was very pleasant. I would compare it to a nicer waffle house or something adjacent. I didn't try the buffet because we came on the wrong day, but I did get their egg hash brown skillet. My eggs were a little undercooked but honestly, I like it that way, so not a problem. The hashbrowns were very good and it came with a lot of vegetables which I enjoyed because honestly at other places like a waffle house and stuff they really don't have a good vegetable variety and this did the toast was very tasty and the service was good would come again. From the moment we walked in, things went downhill fast. The sign at the entrance said "Seat yourself," so we did--splitting between two nearby tables. Within moments, a server stormed over, speaking to us with incredible rudeness, insisting we all cram into one table. She and another waitress then started talking about us, clearly within earshot. When we asked what was going on, the server raised her voice, became aggressive, and even started cussing at us. Feeling completely disrespected, we got up to leave--only to have her follow us to the door, still yelling. The manager came out and apologized, but didn't seem willing or able to hold her accountable. It felt like the staff was running the place, not the manager. I came here with coworkers while in town for a conference. We took a morning to drive to the island to check it out. Considering it was a Wednesday morning in November, it was our only breakfast option. Thankfully, it did not disappoint! We each ordered something different. I ordered the two egg breakfast with corn beef hash and grits. Other orders included the hash brown special, two eggs with chopped sirloin, and two eggs with hash browns. The food came out quickly and everything was delicious! Prices were great as well, especially considering that this is a tourist island. This place was packed on a Tuesday morning in October. We had come because the hype from the Breakfast Club was not hype at all. Sunrise is just across the street and a 1/2 block walk from BC. We waited about 15min and then seated. The waiting is just given a number and written down. Our waitress took our order of drinks and then food. Food took a minute to come out, but they were busy. I got the cheeseburger omelet with hashbrowns and bacon and it was YUMMY. My husband has the steak and eggs with hashbrowns and my friend had another omelet and loved it! The coffee was very good too. They also have baskets of butter and mini jellies with bottles of syrup and jelly on the table. Our order for 3 adults and 2 kids came to $87.00 with tip. Food was good and service was okay - again they were busy, probably because everyone was coming from the breakfast club not being fully operational. read more

Nice quaint breakfast restaurant right on Butler Street on south end of Tybee Island. We walked from our air bnb on T.s Chu Terrace. Friendly staff welcomed us as soon as we entered. "Good morning! Sit wherever you'd like." Restaurant was clean, well-staffed. Wait staff super friendly and helpful. I ordered blueberry pancakes which were delicious, as well as the link sausage. Husband had fried eggs and bacon, which came with creamy southern grits and choice of toast. Coffee and orange juice were great! We appreciated the good, hot, filling meal - but mostly the southern hospitality! We actually went back the very next day! And we'll eat there again on our next trip to the Island. read more

Solid choice if looking for a quick breakfast fill up on a family vacation. The service is friendly and fast, the space is large, and the prices are excellent. The food is the quality of your average hotel breakfast ie tasty enough and filling but you won't leave raving about it. After a beautiful sunrise at Tybee Island we headed over to this lovely little diner type restaurant for an early breakfast. The coffee was fresh and hot, my omelet was outstanding, it had so many vegetables that I was amazed. I loved that they offered tomatoes as a low carb option. My friend had a great experience as well. They even sell souvenir tshirts so I had to grab a tie dye one. The service was fast and efficient despite them getting packed the longer we were there. It's a great place near the beach when you're looking for a good meal at a reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised. Some cook staff are wearing a mask, majority of employees are not. Hand gel available at front entrance. We are both Covid vaccinated but still a bit nervous dining in though we are doing so. Our food yesterday was reasonably priced, nothing fancy just the typical style breakfast offerings that hit the spot and filled us up for a day walking in rainstorms around Savannah. I ordered the cheese omelet with grits and wheat toast yesterday and my husband got a Philly Cheesesteak style omelet with hash browns. Both were generously sized omelets, and we'd order them again. Back again this morning with slightly different menu orders. Doing water as drinks as we'd rather spend $2-3 on adult beverages later than on coffee or whatever at breakfast. read more

I had the bacon Belgian waffle with a side of bacon. The waffle was so stuffed with bacon, I didn't need extra bacon. My husband had eggs, sausage, hash browns and wheat toast. The restaurant is large and houses a lot of tables with people constantly moving around mostly due to the buffet available but the whole place feels sticky. Server was nice and helpful. The food was just okay. I got the big breakfast and the eggs were cooked just great. The bacon and sausage were alright as well and the grits were a little runny for my taste but nothing some hot sauce can't make you forget. The pancakes were really hard and tasted like they had been sitting out for a bit. The omelettes were good but also had some super liquidy cheese in them that wasn't great. So we really wanted to check out a certain breakfast spot across the street, but we were lazy about getting moving because it was a rainy day. We hoofed it down there and were told they sold out. We were like "sold out of what?" and they said "sold out of food". Damn... major flex that they're just selling out of food in general. We still wanted breakfast so we made our way to sunrise. We walked in and were seated almost right away. First impression wasn't great. The staff were wearing masks and all, but our table wasn't wiped down, the menus were tucked next to the condiments and not cleaned between uses. Plus, the buffet is open... no way I was going for that. This was the last place open for breakfast and we had sanitizer and wipes with us so we made due. There were like four different omelets calling my name so I had to give one a try. I don't think I've ever even seen a bacon cheeseburger omelet on a menu before so I rolled the dice. Again, first glance and I was like what is this thin-ass omelet about? Upon further inspection, they do a two egg omelet that is crepe thin. Apparently, that's their thing so I can't really knock them for it, but it's kinda like if a place served meatball subs in a wrap. I mean, all the components are there, but did anyone ask for this? In my experience places pride themselves on having fluffy omelets so this was an odd choice. It made the omelet more about the filling and honestly, that part was really good. Plus it was huge and there was no way I could finish my meat and cheese platter before noon time. Otherwise, our server was cool, but the service itself took forever. If you're looking for an inexpensive and simple breakfast, this place covers the bases. If you're looking for something a little more interesting, I would keep looking... or wake up earlier ;) read more

It's our second time coming here for breakfast on our trip and both times have been great! Service is wonderful and quick--didn't even wait five minutes from ordering our food until it came to our table both times. It's got a nice diner type vibe with booths tables and some counter seating. On the weekends they offer an all you can eat buffet. Prices are reasonable for breakfast, honestly it's the best value for quality food we had on the island. Arguably our best meals in tybee have been here. Great place for a quick breakfast! read more

I came here last year and now I am back again visiting the beach for my sister's birthday. I like this spot because of how they set up the check in process. It makes it really easy, fast, and they use yelp live check in (+++). The wait staff is so friendly and accommodating. They give you a lot of food for reasonable pricing. You can order from the menu or pick and choose from the buffet. It is a really attractive restaurant spot and gets really packed in the morning for breakfast so plan accordingly. read more
