    Late night dinner
    Stephanie C.

We ate here for dinner while staying for the sleigh bell park. The food was delicious and the staff were all great! The only negative we can say about the place is it is small and a bit loud. But it wasn't bad, just a bit loud. We had the sleigh bell special and the stuffed acorn squash off the seasonal menu both were fantastic. Our son got the smash burger off the kids menu and it was also good. Kirk was our waiter and he was very attentive. He knew the menu answered all our questions we had and even went out of his way to make sure our little guy liked his food and got his chocolate milk. When we come back to visit family again we will Make sure to stop by for a bite.

    Steak and potatoes, very tender.

This restaurant is on the top floor of the new Hampton Inn and Suites on the Lake Michigan shoreline in Manistee, Michigan. It has great views of the northern shore and the city beach and piers Very updated decor and a well stocked bar with knowledgeable bartenders. We had the boneless wings done gluten free (+$2) for appetizers. They were excellent. My wife had the steak and potatoes and was very happy with her choice. It was done to order and was very tender. I had the Windward salmon which I can highly recommend. The wait staff were attentive and gracious. You don't need to be staying at the hotel to eat here, we just happened to be and the menu looked good. I have included their menu Decent portion size for the prices.

Best view in the City of Manistee. Wait can be an issue but service is improving. My husband and I were seated but actual service took 30 minutes. It is worth the wait but we were miffed that no one came to give us water or take our order.

The service was amazing. Not too loud or bright. Perfect view of lake Michigan. Very clean and new. Very experienced mixologist. Food was great.

Amazing service with amazing views, food was great as well. Not so sure on the BBQ chicken pizza, though, that one was a bit dry is all.

    View from restaurant.

Can't beat the views and the ambiance is solid for a hotel restaurant. Wife's poboy was good but my fettuccine Alfredo lacked any flavor, but other menu items looked good from what we could see others eating. Very lively environment although they could dim the lights a bit to make it more intimate. Great drink selection of local makers and your typical bar staples. Worth the visit, just fix the Alfredo sauce.

Great view of the lake, creative cocktails, and nice Wednesday night music. 5th floor of hotel.

Best views but food was VERY disappointing, not too mention very delayed. Better off going into town to eat.

The walls are covered with beer signs, trophy fish and old antiques. Fitting for the oldest running saloon in town. Our waitress arrived promptly and took our orders. Our drinks came back quickly and we knew what we wanted. I ordered the chicken fried steak with a side of cheesesy hashbrowns (Additional $1.50), coleslaw and a roll. My friend ordered the 4 piece bbq chicken with fries, coleslaw and a roll. The wait wasn't long. 10-15 minutes if that. My chicken fried steak was good. The cheesey hasbrowns were worth the extra charge! And I don't usually like coleslaw but this was great! My friend sure did enjoy his chicken! The service, food, PRICE for what you get and attmosphere were all EXCELLENT!

I had barely set foot in the door when the two bartenders at the bar greeted me warmly and welcomed me in and told me I could sit anywhere I wanted. I sat at the bar and as recommended by a local, I ordered the pepper jack crab soup, which was delicious. One thing to be aware of: don't expect real crab in the soup. Imitation only. But it's plentiful and delicious on a frigid winter day. The bartender recommended the roasted chicken or the perch, and living near another great lake and always having ready access to perch, I decided on the broasted chicken. I was not disappointed. It came with four pieces, choice, potato, and a choice of another side. It was way too its food, but I ate more than I thought they would because it was that good. I will definitely return to the painted lady!

But also, if you don't eat you might die? This was one of those moments. It was nigh on dinner time and I wasn't sure of my next move. Nothing in particular sounded good. When that's the case, you can always settle for Mexican. Who doesn't like tacos and taco related foods? I saw this was a fairly new restaurant so I decided to give it a run. (Also, this place used to be the River Street Station, where I spent A LOT of time stuffing my face). Nostalgia 10/10. Taking a corner booth, I opened my menu and stared. I just wasn't sure what I needed. Nothing in particular stood out, so I settled on nachos and a single taco. Always get a taco at a Mexican place, regardless of what else you get. Get a taco. Do it. The nachos came with refried beans, shredded chicken, beef, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, and potentially something else I'm forgetting. I ordered a beef taco. American. On a flour shell. (American tacos usually come with lettuce, tomato, and cheese). Usually I go for the chorizo, Mexican style, but a good ol' fashioned beefer sounded good. My food arrived in a timely fashion and as usual, the nachos were piled high and my taco was wrapped up nice and neat it a little aluminum foil coffin. I was feeling spicy, so I added several large thwumps of hot sauce. And unfortunately from here, it's just kind of where things stop. I'm a fan of nachos. Who doesn't like meat, cheese, and chips. I lived off poor man nachos (chips and cheese), for a long time, and still revisit that delicacy. Though these looked fantastic, the flavor was just...off. Or maybe it was lack of spices or even spice. If it wasn't for the hot sauce, they would have just been bland. I think instead of having chicken AND beef, there should be one or the other. Mostly because I think it was the chicken that contributed to the soggy bottom of nachos. There was just a lot of juice. Know what doesn't sound appealing for nachos? Juice. The taco, though healed in meat, had good flavor. However, I think because it was wrapped in its own little sarcophagus, if you didn't eat it right away, the wetness would begin to take over and the shell would become a soggy mess. It made eating it more difficult than a normal taco. Nacho flavor 4/10 Nacho appearance 10/10 (but you can't eat appearance, now can you?) Taco flavor 10/10 Taco sogginess 10/10 (a high sogginess rating for tacos is not good)
