The Wine Closet is an excellent place for wine enthusiasts and amateurs (like me) mostly because the owner Linda is kind and very knowledgable. She talks wine at whatever level of sophistication you are. According to my 'wine expert' friend Jon, the Wine Closet has a exceptional selection and he says Linda knows what she is talking about. For me, she explains things on my level without making me feel dumb. She takes time to describe the grape, the grower, how it is made and Linda makes it fun to learn about and drink the wine. I've been to some wine tastings featuring various wineries and walked in on a wine tasting and art class that had the group of students laughing and having a fun time. Beautiful display of quality meats and cheeses as well as great wine! Came in on a Thursday night around 6:45 and it was packed! They don't have very many seats but it's cozy not uncomfortable. So get in early if you can or stand at the bar. We were offered seats right away from customers and staff, which either means their customers are really nice people or they have regulars who care about the establishment, or both ;) we were offered a sample of the Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, full bodied with a bit of spice and so yummy. Glasses range from $8-12 so we bought a bottle. Our party of 3 was fortunate that a group left a table so we quickly sat down and mulled over the menus. Ended up with a charcuterie plate with smoked guda, brie, manchego, prosciutto, smoked salami, coppa. All were phenomenal! The only reason I didn't give this place 5 starts was because service was a little slow after we ordered (but it is a wine bar so you can't knock them too much for that) and the lack of seating, which is really a testament to their popularity. Oh and there was a $10 service fee which I'm guess was the cork fee but we bought there bottle so not super impressed with that. Our business networking group recently had a meet and greet with potential members. We chose The Wine Closet because we wanted a comfortable, casual atmosphere with quality appetizers and beverages. We gave Linda the number of people who would be attending and our budget, and she selected a great selection of wines and appropriate appetizers. I enjoyed the wine club, and coming to the store for a tasting on a date night with my husband. Last night I came with friends of mine. We had already a great cheese board and drinks and were debating what to drink next when a voice from behind me I was made rudely aware of a "rule" that I was not aware of before. I don't mind the rule, but there are better ways to talk to customers. I just don't know if I feel comfortable going there anymore. I canceled my wine club membership today and I'm not sure if I'll return. read more

The Wine Closet is a terrific wine shop with a great and constantly updated selection of reasonably priced outstanding wines. Linda is very helpful with wine pairings and their wino club is a great value, particularly if you live in the area and do not have to pay for shipping as with most wine clubs. This is a cozy and delightful place for a date, a girls-get-together, or for a simple late afternoon break. They offer artisan cheese platters and charcuterie, in addition to brats and panini. We love The Wine Closet. There is no better place in the area to try incredible wines at reasonable prices. The ambience is pleasant, and Linda's love and knowledge of wine is evident in every glass she pours. Her wine club ("Closet Winos") allows us to try a number of reasonably priced wines that are special. As club members, we're able to take advantage of a discount on tastings as well as every bottle we buy. We've taken advantage of the free corkage at local restaurants but also have enjoyed the ability to order a cheese plate or food from Cafe Verona next door as the mood strikes. this is our favorite wine bar in the area. It's small and quaint without being stuffy and intimidating. the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and open to answer all questions about the different wines. Moderately priced- which is a great bonus- and the cheese plate is the best in town for the price point. They also have a collaboration worked out with the Italian place- Verona's, two doors down for a more substantial menu. read more
