I had some 'stall' time and so loving wine the way I do-I finally got to the Wine Closet. We walked in and immediately felt invited, comfortable plus the staff confirmed these feelings being very friendly and cordial. The inside was adorned with crates, pictures etc that connected with my taste for wine. We were able to sit wherever we wanted and felt 'at home' very quickly. A flight or two ordered and in front of us in no time. Our food order came soon after (the Lucky Goat was very good). There were many wines to choose from, even after the flight it was a few more glasses of various blancs, one rose really stood out and of course that little diva, pinot noir. (I stick to CA wines these days since the industry has been strained). The Wine Closet is a very nice place to relax, select and enjoy wine and good food. Lovely for dinner, the twinkling outdoor lights guide you in to the coziest little villa which is the perfect spot for catching up with friends or having a romantic date night on their patio. My friend and I opted to sit inside at their high top table which was a nice way to scope out the restaurant. I love that everything here is customizable! You can create your own custom charcuterie board with all your favorite pairings, then explore their impressive menu of fresh salads, melty paninis, and shareable appetizers made for lingering conversations. We shared the custom charcuterie board and avocado crostini's. Both were delicious and perfect for sharing. As for the drinks, whether you're a fan of sipping wine by the glass or sharing a bottle, they have an impressive list of local and foreign wines to pick from. Also, for those of you that aren't huge wine drinkers, I was also impressed to learn that they always have at least 10 beers rotating here. We started with Chardonnay and Moscato and ended with some Southern California beers, we agreed their selection was great. As for the staff, everyone was super welcoming and attentive! We came on a busy weekday night as they had a wine tasting event going on yet the staff still managed to get everyone served promptly and drinks were always refilled. Definitely a place where you initially come for the wine, but stay for the vibes. I'd say overall this spot truly is a 10/10 - 5 stars. The food was delicious, great menu, nice staff and a good selection of wines. I'd even come back for lunch just to grab a panini and to sit on their patio. If I had to give one critique, I would say that the spot is just a little pricey. So this wouldn't be a regular stop per se, but I loved it so much that I honestly will be back soon and keep it in mind for a special girls night, etc. Also in fairness there is a way to come here and have it be cheaper, maybe just one glass of wine and a sandwich or app but we all know I go big lol. Sadly after being one of my favorite places to go, we popped in tonight at 8:20 and I asked May we have charcuterie, the response was "no you may not, we're doing last call" not oh, I'm sorry, we do last call at 40 till, or sorry we stop food at x time not hi welcome in, nothing. Just so unwelcoming and rude. Then yes, because we did the Camarillo family walk tonight my daughter was with us so she asked if she was 21. I said no she's not. She said well she can't be in here you can sit on the patio. Understandable. But the initial way we were welcomed after regularly spending our money here is mind blowing. I regularly recommend them for charcuterie. I definitely no longer will. After reading any of the 1 star reviews I see I'm not the only one who felt this way. read more

We visited the wine closet a couple of weeks ago. We thought maybe it was just a bad night. It was not pleasant. Server was short with us and definitely did not want to be there. We came back to give it another try because we love wine. Unfortunately this visit was no better. I don't know if it is a mother and daughter owner or what, but the older lady and a younger girl were just rude and zero personality. My favorite wine bar in ALL of Ventura County!! I was yearning to try this place after reading all the great reviews and when I finally visited with my best friend, we were blown away! Linda's taste for wine is exquisite. I have been frequenting The Wine Closet for over 2 years now and I've never had a bottle of wine I don't like. My friend and I were once wine members but had to cancel because we moved to the valley. I actually dropped in for a bottle just this past Sunday (to support a small business during this COVID-19 pandemic) and I was reminded of what a great place it is so, I went ahead and rejoined the wine club. I recently enjoyed a quick glass of wine and think The Wine Closet has potential. The Yelp reviews are over the top and probably warranted. My experience was OK except for one possible nitpicking issue. The Bar Wine Menu has some glaring errors which is also one of my pet peeves. Not All Sparkling Wine is Champagne; the menu listed two, made in France. They were not Champagne, they were not a Cremant but they were mass-produced sparkling wine made somewhere in France. I expect a Wine Bar to be a wine geek type of expert; the server explanations missed on all marks. I will return to give them another chance. I'd been meaning to try this place for about a year, and so happy I finally did. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a light lunch and to have a flight or two of wine. It was such a lovely and relaxed afternoon as we sat outdoors in the back patio sipping wine. I ordered the cheese platter and my boyfriend a panini. The staff was great and the food tasty. The ambiance was nice however the service was horrible. Very unhelpful with deciding what drink to order on flights. I asked what sweet wines do you have. She said she only had one and other than that she could not help me. Very unattended to use. Very uncomfortable didn't feel welcomed. My daughter friend fell off the chair and she walks over saying is the chair okay. If we didn't uber there I would have walked out. They always have a good, comprehensive selection of wines by the glass, the food is wonderful and their Closet Wino club is a fine value. Oh my goodness, where do i began? I love this place so much after only my burst visit here. It was date night and I'm new to Camarillo with a cheese board and good wine ' "feen", and luckily came across this gem of a place. The inside is so cute and quaint. They have two sides- one side for retail such as bottles and lovely hand made candles, and the other is for the food and wine to sip, eat, and get cozy. We came in on a Friday around 8:30 PM (place closes at 9), and Linda and her co-workers were extremely nice and welcoming! They definitely made an impression and recommended great items! I loved the avocado crostini, well i loved everything but it was a nice change. The coconut gouda is a MUST try. I love the selection, the hospitality, the knowledge, and the food. I have been coming to The Wine Closet for years for the wine. Linda, the owner, has an amazing palate and I have never been disappointed in one of her selections. But, I was recently surprised to find that she also makes the BEST BANH MI sandwich in Ventura County and probably well beyond that. I've long loved a great Banh Mi, from many trips to Hawaii, but have found great ones hard to come by around these parts unless I venture deep into LA. No more. The Wine Closet's sandwich features warm roasted-in-house pork nestled in a perfectly crunchy baguette roll along with the requisite vegetables, fresh and crunchy. Enjoy this for lunch with a nice glass of wine (she always has a number available, from bubbly to whites, rose' and reds) and you have a perfect lunch. Great spot to stop in for some wine and charcuterie. Stopped in here to check out one of the local c-town hotspots. Great for a quick glass of wine and charcuterie. I recommend you get the homemade hummus too. The have a pick-your-plate setup when it comes to the charcuterie which lets you customize it however you want. Yummy garlic toasted bread, not too overdone and was just right. There's a secret back patio which looks kinda rustic and is probably because of covid-19, but I recommend you sit back there as it seems to be the inside spot to be at. HUGE assortment of the finest cheeses around! They have a very nice assortment of delicious wines/beer.

Although they are listed as a wine bar, it's more of a quiet, intimate lounge. The wines that we had here were quite nice and the charcuterie/cheese plate provided a nice counterpoint to our afternoon snack. The Spanish chorizo, fennel salami, and Calabrese salami were on point and the Spanish majon cheese was nice and mild. As they are not a winery I don't understand the point of having a wine club with shipments of random wine that I haven't tasted, but I'm an "old school" guy that still tries to comprehend things ;-D read more

There are times when my husband and I need a place to just get away and relax. This is the home. The food is always amazing and any wine type to fit my very specific pallet is there. She teaches me every time something new and the patience she has with all my questions warms my heart. They always have spare masks since I'm a wee bit older to accommodate us, lucky we cannot control everyone but fortunately for us she does an amazing job of making sure people do it. It's a small place with a small staff and making it through this tough time, the regulars and people who enjoy going out understand what it's like to be surviving during this.
